The quantum coherence of electronic quasiparticles underpins many of the emerging transport properties of conductors at small scales. Novel electronic implementations of quantum optics devices are now available with perspectives such as 'flying' qubit manipulations. However, electronic quantum interferences in conductors remained up to now limited to propagation paths shorter than $30\,\mu$m, independently of the material. Here we demonstrate strong electronic quantum interferences after a propagation along two $0.1\,$mm long pathways in a circuit. Interferences of visibility as high as $80\%$ and $40\%$ are observed on electronic analogues of the Mach-Zehnder interferometer of, respectively, $24\,\mu$m and $0.1\,$mm arm length, consistently corresponding to a $0.25\,$mm electronic phase coherence length. While such devices perform best in the integer quantum Hall regime at filling factor 2, the electronic interferences are restricted by the Coulomb interaction between copropagating edge channels. We overcome this limitation by closing the inner channel in micron-scale loops of frozen internal degrees of freedom, combined with a loop-closing strategy providing an essential isolation from the environment., Comment: To be published in PRX

Two-dimensional (2D) van der Waals (vdW) materials provide the possibility of realizing heterostructures with coveted properties. Here, we report a theoretical investigation of the vdW magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) based on VSe2/MoS2 heterojunction, where the VSe2 monolayer acts as the ferromagnet with the room-temperature ferromagnetism. We propose the concept of spin-orbit torque (SOT) vdW MTJ with reliable reading and efficient writing operations. The non-equilibrium study reveals a large tunneling magnetoresistance (TMR) of 846 % at 300 Kelvin, identifying significantly its parallel and anti-parallel states. Thanks to the strong spin Hall conductivity of MoS2, SOT is promising for the magnetization switching of VSe2 free layer. Quantum-well states come into being and resonances appear in MTJ, suggesting that the voltage control can adjust transport properties effectively. The SOT vdW MTJ based on VSe2/MoS2 provides desirable performance and experimental feasibility, offering new opportunities for 2D spintronics.

Using broadband ferromagnetic resonance, we measure the damping parameter of [Co(5 \r{A})/Pt(3 \r{A})]${\times 6}$ multilayers whose growth was optimized to maximize the perpendicular anisotropy. Structural characterizations indicate abrupt interfaces essentially free of intermixing despite the miscible character of Co and Pt. Gilbert damping parameters as low as 0.021 can be obtained despite a magneto-crystalline anisotropy as large as $10^6~\textrm{J/m}^3$. The inhomogeneous broadening accounts for part of the ferromagnetic resonance linewidth, indicating some structural disorder leading to a equivalent 20 mT of inhomogenity of the effective field. The unexpectedly relatively low damping factor indicates that the presence of the Pt heavy metal within the multilayer may not be detrimental to the damping provided that intermixing is avoided at the Co/Pt interfaces.

We theoretically investigate the problem of localization control of few-photon states in driven-dissipative parity-symmetric photonic molecules. We show that a quantum feedback loop can utilize the information of the spontaneously-emitted photons from each cavity to induce asymmetric photon population in the system, while maintaining a balanced pump that respects parity symmetry. To better understand the system's behaviour, we characterize the degree of asymmetry as a function of the coupling between the two optical cavities. Contrary to intuitive expectations, we find that in some regimes the coupling can enhance the population asymmetry. We simulate the spin torque-induced reversal of the magnetization in thin disks with perpendicular anisotropy at zero temperature. Disks typically smaller than 20 nm in diameter exhibit coherent reversal. A domain wall is involved in larger disks. We derive the critical diameter of this transition. Using a proper definition of the critical voltage, a macrospin model can account perfectly for the reversal dynamics when the reversal is coherent. The same critical voltage appears to match with the micromagnetics switching voltage regardless of the switching path.

Light's orbital angular momentum (OAM) is an unbounded degree of freedom emerging in helical beams that appears very advantageous technologically. Using a chiral microlaser, i.e. an integrated device that allows generating an emission carrying a net OAM, we demonstrate a regime of bistability involving two modes presenting distinct OAM (L = 0 and L = 2). Furthermore, thanks to an engineered spin-orbit coupling of light in the device, these modes also exhibit distinct polarization patterns, i.e. cirular and azimuthal polarizations. Using a dynamical model of rate euqations, we show that this bistability arises from polarization-dependent saturation of the gain medium. Such a bistable regime appears very promising for implementing ultrafast optical switches based on the OAM of light. As well, it paves the way to the exploration of dynamical processes involving phase and polarization vortices.

We present an experiment where the quantum coherence in the edge states of the integer quantum Hall regime is tuned with a decoupling gate. The coherence length is determined by measuring the visibility of quantum interferences in a Mach-Zehnder interferometer as a function of temperature, in the quantum Hall regime at filling factor two. The temperature dependence of the coherence length can be varied by a factor of two. The strengthening of the phase coherence at finite temperature is shown to arise from a reduction of the coupling between co-propagating edge states. This opens the way for a strong improvement of the phase coherence of Quantum Hall systems. The decoupling gate also allows us to investigate how inter-edge state coupling influence the quantum interferences' dependence on the injection bias. We find that the finite bias visibility can be decomposed into two contributions: a Gaussian envelop which is surprisingly insensitive to the coupling, and a beating component which, on the contrary, is strongly affected by the coupling., Comment: 4 pages, 5 figures
