The purpose of this paper is to find an explicit formula and asymptotic estimate for the total number of sum of weighted records over set partitions of [ n ] in terms of Bell numbers. For that we study the generating function for the number of set partitions of [ n ] according to the statistic sum of weighted records.

This paper makes a combinatorial study of the two monoids and the two types of tableaux that arise from the two possible generalizations of the Patience Sorting algorithm from permutations (or standard words) to words. For both types of tableaux, we present Robinson--Schensted--Knuth-type correspondences (that is, bijective correspondences between word arrays and certain pairs of semistandard tableaux of the same shape), generalizing two known correspondences: a bijective correspondence between standard words and certain pairs of standard tableaux, and an injective correspondence between words and pairs of tableaux. We also exhibit formulas to count both the number of each type of tableaux with given evaluations (that is, containing a given number of each symbol). Observing that for any natural number $n$, the $n$-th Bell number is given by the number of standard tableaux containing $n$ symbols, we restrict the previous formulas to standard words and extract a formula for the Bell numbers. Finally, we present a `hook length formula' that gives the number of standard tableaux of a given shape and deduce some consequences., Comment: 36 pages

In this paper we are interested in Euler-type sums with products of harmonic numbers, Stirling numbers and Bell numbers. We discuss the analytic representations of Euler sums through values of polylogarithm function and Riemann zeta function. Moreover, we provide explicit evaluations for almost all Euler sums with weight ≤5, which can be expressed in terms of zeta values and polylogarithms. Furthermore, we give explicit formula for several classes of Euler-related sums in terms of zeta values and harmonic numbers, and several examples are given. The given representations are new.

Let $B_t(n)$ be the number of set partitions of a set of size~$t$ into at most $n$ parts and let $B'_t(n)$ be the number of set partitions of $\{1,\ldots, t\}$ into at most $n$ parts such that no part contains both $1$ and~$t$ or both $i$ and $i+1$ for any $i \in \{1,\ldots,t-1\}$. We give two new combinatorial interpretations of the numbers $B_t(n)$ and $B'_t(n)$ using sequences of random-to-top shuffles, %that leave a deck of cards invariant, and sequences of box moves on the Young diagrams of partitions. Using these ideas we obtain a very short proof of a generalization of a result of Phatarfod on the eigenvalues of the random-to-top shuffle. We also prove analogous results for random-to-top shuffles that may flip certain cards. The proofs use the Solomon descent algebras of Types A, B and~D. Summation of a large class of the functional series, which terms contain factorials, is considered. We first investigated finite partial sums for integer arguments. These sums have the same values in real and all p-adic cases. The corresponding infinite functional series are divergent in the real case, but they are convergent and have p-adic invariant sums in p-adic cases. We found polynomials which generate all significant ingredients of these series and make connection between their real and p-adic properties. We provide q-generalizations of Spivey's Bell number formula in various settings by considering statistics on different combinatorial structures. This leads to new identities involving q-Stirling numbers of both kinds and q-Lah numbers. As corollaries, we obtain identities for both binomial and q-binomial coefficients. Our results at the same time also generalize recent r-Stirling number formulas of Mezo. Finally, we provide a combinatorial proof and refinement of Xu's extension of Spivey's formula to the generalized Stirling numbers of Hsu and Shiue. We study structural properties of the q-color Potts field theory which, for real values of q, describes the scaling limit of the random cluster model. We show that the number of independent n-point Potts spin correlators coincides with that of independent n-point cluster connectivities and is given by generalized Bell numbers. Only a subset of these spin correlators enters the determination of the Potts magnetic properties for q integer. The structure of the operator product expansion of the spin fields for generic q is also identified. For the two-dimensional case, we analyze the duality relation between spin and kink field correlators, both for the bulk and boundary cases, obtaining in particular a sum rule for the kink-kink elastic scattering amplitudes., Comment: 27 pages; 6 figures. We compute the dimension $d_{n,r}(q) = \dim(\IR_q^r)$ of the defining module $\IR_q^r$ for the $q$-partition algebra. This module comes from $r$-iterations of Harish-Chandra restriction and induction on $\GL_n(\FF_q)$. This dimension is a polynomial in $q$ that specializes as $d_{n,r}(1) = n^r$ and $d_{n,r}(0) = B(r)$, the $r$th Bell number. We compute $d_{n,r}(q)$ in two ways. The first is purely combinatorial. We show that $d_{n,r}(q) = \sum_\lambda f^\lambda(q) m_r^\lambda$, where $f^\lambda(q)$ is the $q$-hook number and $m_r^\lambda$ is the number of $r$-vacillating tableaux. Using a Schensted bijection, we write this as a sum over integer sequences which, when $q$-counted by inverse major index, gives $d_{n,r}(q)$. The second way is algebraic. We consider sequences of generalized Bell numbers B(n), n=0,1,... for which there exist Dobinski-type summation formulas; that is, where B(n) is represented as an infinite sum over k of terms P(k)^n/D(k). These include the standard Bell numbers and their generalizations appearing in the normal ordering of powers of boson monomials, as well as variants of the "ordered" Bell numbers.
