In this short note we show that non-negative Ricci curvature is not preserved under Ricci flow for closed manifolds of dimensions four and above, strengthening a previous result of Knopf in \cite{K} for complete non-compact manifolds of bounded curvature. This brings down to four dimensions a similar result B\"ohm and Wilking have for dimensions twelve and above, \cite{BW}. In 1981, Foias, Guillop\'e and Temam proved a priori estimates for arbitrary-order space derivatives of solutions to the Navier-Stokes equation. Such bounds are instructive in the numerical investigation of intermittency often observed in simulations, e.g., numerical study of vorticity moments by Donzis et al. (2013) revealed depletion of nonlinearity that may be responsible for smoothness of solutions to the Navier-Stokes equation. We employ an original method to derive analogous estimates for space derivatives of three-dimensional space-periodic weak solutions to the evolutionary equations of diffusive magnetohydrodynamics. Construction relies on space analyticity of the solutions at almost all times. An auxiliary problem is introduced, and a Sobolev norm of its solutions bounds from below the size in $C^3$ of the region of space analyticity of the solutions to the original problem. We recover the exponents obtained earlier for the hydrodynamic problem. The same approach is also followed here to derive and prove similar a priori bounds for arbitrary-order space derivatives of the first-order time derivative of the weak MHD solutions. In this paper we investigate the property (HLUR), a generalisation of (LUR) property of a Banach space. A Banach space having the property (HLUR) is called an HLUR space. We characterise (HLUR) property with the help of known geometric properties and study various properties of HLUR spaces. We show that for any finite dimensional Banach space, the property (HLUR) coincides with anti-Daugavet property of the space. We study numerical integration for a weighted Korobov space of analytic periodic functions for which the Fourier coefficients decay exponentially fast. In particular, we are interested in how the error depends on the dimension d . Many recent papers deal with this problem or similar problems and provide matching necessary and sufficient conditions for various notions of tractability. In most cases even simple algorithms are known which allow to achieve these notions of tractability. However, there is a gap in the literature: while for the notion of exponential-weak tractability one knows matching necessary and sufficient conditions, so far no explicit algorithm has been known which yields the desired result. In this paper we close this gap and prove that Korobov lattice rules are suitable algorithms in order to achieve exponential-weak tractability for integration in weighted Korobov spaces of analytic periodic functions.

In his PhD thesis, Goosen combined the string-net and the generators-and-relations formalisms for arbitrary once-extended 3-dimensional TQFTs. In this paper we work this out in detail for the simplest non-trivial example, where the underlying spherical fusion category is the category of $\mathbb{Z}/2\mathbb{Z}$-graded vector spaces. This allows us to give an elementary string-net description of the linear maps associated to 3-dimensional bordisms. The string-net formalism also simplifies the description of the mapping class group action in the resulting TQFT. International audience; We present a new notion of solution for mean field games master equations. This notion allows us to work with solutions which are merely continuous. We prove first results of uniqueness and stability for such solutions. It turns out that this notion is helpful to characterize the value function of mean field games of optimal stopping or impulse control and this is the topic of the second half of this paper. The notion of solution we introduce is only useful in the monotone case. We focus in this paper in the finite state space case.

In this paper we consider interpolation problem connected with series by integer shifts of Gaussians. Known approaches for these problems met numerical difficulties. Due to it another method is considered based on finite-rank approximations by linear systems. The main result for this approach is to establish correctness of the finite-rank linear system under consideration. And the main result of the paper is to prove correctness of the finite-rank linear system approximation. For that an explicit formula for the main determinant of the linear system is derived to demonstrate that it is non-zero., Comment: 12 pages

This paper is a fundamental study of the Real $2$-representation theory of $2$-groups. It also contains many new results in the ordinary (non-Real) case. Our framework relies on a $2$-equivariant Morita bicategory, where a novel construction of induction is introduced. We identify the Grothendieck ring of Real $2$-representations as a Real variant of the Burnside ring of the fundamental group of the $2$-group and study the Real categorical character theory. In this paper, we construct and study a semigroup associated to an action of a countable discrete group on a compact Hausdorff space that can be regarded as a higher dimensional generalization of the type semigroup. We study when this semigroup is almost unperforated. This leads to a new characterization of dynamical comparison and thus answers a question of Kerr and Schafhauser. In addition, this paper suggests a definition of comparison for dynamical systems in which neither the acting group is necessarily amenable nor the action is minimal.

This paper is devoted to the question of constructing a higher order Faber spline basis for the sampling discretization of functions with higher regularity than Lipschitz. The basis constructed in this paper has similar properties as the piecewise linear classical Faber–Schauder basis (Faber, 1908) except for the compactness of the support. Although the new basis functions are supported on the real line they are very well localized (exponentially decaying) and the main parts are concentrated on a segment. This construction gives a complete answer to Problem 3.13 in Triebel’s monograph (Triebel, 2012) by extending the classical Faber basis to higher orders. Roughly, the crucial idea to obtain a higher order Faber spline basis is to apply Taylor’s remainder formula to the dual Chui–Wang wavelets. As a first step we explicitly determine these dual wavelets which may be of independent interest. Using this new basis we provide sampling characterizations for Besov and Triebel–Lizorkin spaces and overcome the smoothness restriction coming from the classical piecewise linear Faber–Schauder system. This basis is unconditional and coefficient functionals are computed from discrete function values similar as for the Faber–Schauder situation.

This paper is concerned with well-posedness of the Cahn-Hilliard equation subject to a class of new dynamic boundary conditions. The system was recently derived in Liu-Wu (Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 233 (2019), 167-247) via an energetic variational approach and it naturally fulfills three physical constraints such as mass conservation, energy dissipation and force balance. The target problem examined in this paper can be viewed as a transmission problem that consists of Cahn-Hilliard type equations both in the bulk and on the boundary. In our approach, we are able to deal with a general class of potentials with double-well structure, including the physically relevant logarithmic potential and the non-smooth double-obstacle potential. Existence, uniqueness and continuous dependence of global weak solutions are established. The proof is based on a novel time-discretization scheme for the approximation of the continuous problem. Besides, a regularity result is shown with the aim of obtaining a strong solution to the system.

This paper deals with dynamical optimal transport metrics defined by spatial discretisation of the Benamou--Benamou formula for the Kantorovich metric $W_2$. Such metrics appear naturally in discretisations of $W_2$-gradient flow formulations for dissipative PDE. However, it has recently been shown that these metrics do not in general converge to $W_2$, unless strong geometric constraints are imposed on the discrete mesh. In this paper we prove that, in a $1$-dimensional periodic setting, discrete transport metrics converge to a limiting transport metric with a non-trivial effective mobility. This mobility depends sensitively on the geometry of the mesh and on the non-local mobility at the discrete level. In this paper, we investigate the geometric invariant properties of a normal curve on a smooth immersed surface under conformal transformation. We obtain an invariant-sufficient condition for the conformal image of a normal curve. We also find the deviations of normal and tangential components of the normal curve under the same motion. In his recent Proceedings of the AMS paper, “Gossez’s skew linear map and its pathological maximally monotone multifunctions”, Stephen Simons proved that the closure of the range of the sum of the Gossez operator and a multiple of the duality map is not convex whenever the scalar is between 0 0 and 4 4 . The problem of the convexity of that range when the scalar is equal to 4 4 was explicitly stated. In this paper, we answer this question in the negative for any scalar greater than or equal to 4 4 . We derive this result from an abstract framework that allows us to also obtain a corresponding result for the Fitzpatrick-Phelps integral operator.

In this paper, we study convergence of coupled dynamical systems on convergent sequences of graphs to a continuum limit. We show that the solutions of the initial value problem for the dynamical system on a convergent graph sequence tend to that for the nonlocal diffusion equation on a unit interval, as the graph size tends to infinity. We improve our earlier results in [Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal., 21 (2014), pp. 781--803] and extend them to a larger class of graphs, which includes directed and undirected, sparse and dense, random and deterministic graphs. There are three main ingredients of our approach. First, we employ a flexible framework for incorporating random graphs into the models of interacting dynamical systems, which fits seamlessly with the derivation of the continuum limit. Next, we prove the averaging principle for approximating a dynamical system on a random graph by its deterministic (averaged) counterpart. The proof covers systems on sparse graphs and yields almost sure convergence on time intervals of order $\log n,$ where $n$ is the number of vertices. Finally, a Galerkin scheme is developed to show convergence of the averaged model to the continuum limit. In this paper, we investigate sharp damping estimates for a class of one dimensional oscillatory integral operators with real-analytic phases. By establishing endpoint estimates for suitably damped oscillatory integral operators, we are able to give a new proof of the sharp $L^p$ estimates which have been proved by Xiao in Endpoint estimates for one-dimensional oscillatory integral operators, \emph{Advances in Mathematics}, \textbf{316}, 255-291 (2017). This paper investigates the existence of weak solutions of biquasilinear boundary value problem for a coupled elliptic-parabolic system of divergence form with discontinuous leading coefficients. The mathematical framework addressed in the article considers the presence of an additional nonlinearity in the model which reflects the radiative thermal boundary effects in some applications of interest. The results are obtained via the Rothe-Galerkin method. Only weak assumptions are made on the data and the boundary conditions are allowed to be on a general form. The major contribution of the current paper is the explicit expressions for the constants appeared in the quantitative estimates that are derived. These detailed and explicit estimates may be useful for the study on nonlinear problems that appear in the real world applications. In particular, they clarify the smallness conditions. In conclusion, we illustrate how the above results may be applied to the thermoelectrochemical phenomena in an electrolysis cell. In this paper, we derive the explicit expressions of two Markov semi-groups constructed by P. Biane in \cite{Bia1} from the restriction of a particular positive definite function on the complex unimodular group $Sl(2,\mathbb{C})$ to two commutative subalgebras of its universal $C^{\star}$-algebra. Our computations use Euclidean Fourier analysis together with the generating function of Laguerre polynomials with index $-1$, and yield absolutely-convergent double series representations of the semi-group densities. In the last part of the paper, we discuss the coincidence, noticed by Biane as well, occurring between the heat kernel on the Heisenberg group and the semi-group corresponding to the intersection of the principal and the complementary series. We establish a Dahlberg-type perturbation theorem for second order divergence form elliptic operators with complex coefficients. In our previous paper, we showed the following result: If ${\mathcal L}_0=\mbox{div} A^0(x)\nabla+B^0(x)\cdot\nabla$ is a $p$-elliptic operator satisfying certain Carleson condition on $\nabla A$ and $B$ then the $L^p$ Dirichlet problem for the operator ${\mathcal L}_0$ is solvable in the upper half-space ${\mathbb R}^n_+$. In this paper we prove that the $L^p$ solvability is stable under small perturbations of ${\mathcal L}_0$. That is if ${\mathcal L}_1$ is another divergence form elliptic operator with complex coefficients and the coefficients of the operators ${\mathcal L}_0$ and ${\mathcal L}_1$ are sufficiently close in the sense of Carleson measures (considering the differences of coefficients), then the $L^p$ Dirichlet problem for the operator ${\mathcal L}_1$ is solvable for the same value of $p$. As a corollary we obtain a new result on $L^p$ solvability of the Dirichlet problem for operators of the form ${\mathcal L}=\mbox{div} A(x)\nabla+B(x)\cdot\nabla$ where the matrix $A$ satisfies weaker Carleson condition than in our earlier paper; in particular the coefficients of $A$ need no longer be differentiable and instead satisfy a Carleson condition that controls the oscillation of the matrix $A$ over Whitney boxes. This paper provides a systematic study of fundamental combinatorial properties of one-dimensional, two-sided infinite simple Toeplitz subshifts. Explicit formulas for the complexity function, the palindrome complexity function and the repetitivity function are proven. Moreover, a complete description of the de Bruijn graphs of the subshifts is given. Finally, the Boshernitzan condition is characterised in terms of combinatorial quantities, based on a recent result of Liu and Qu. Given a finite collection of $C^1$ vector fields on a $C^2$ manifold which span the tangent space at every point, we consider the question of when there is locally a coordinate system in which these vector fields are real analytic. We give necessary and sufficient, coordinate-free conditions for the existence of such a coordinate system. Moreover, we present a quantitative study of these coordinate charts. This is the third part in a three-part series of papers. The first part, joint with Stovall, lay the groundwork for the coordinate system we use in this paper and showed how such coordinate charts can be viewed as scaling maps for sub-Riemannian geometry. In the paper, we construct conservative Markov processes corresponding to the martingale solutions to the stochastic heat equation on R + \mathbb {R}^+ or R \mathbb {R} with values in a general Riemannian manifold, which is only assumed to be complete and stochastic complete. This work is an extension of the previous paper of Röckner and the second, third, and fourth authors [SIAM J. Math. Anal. 52 (2020), pp. 2237–2274] on finite volume case. Moveover, we also obtain some functional inequalities associated to these Markov processes. This implies that on infinite volume case, the exponential ergodicity of the solution of the Ricci curvature is strictly positive and the non-ergodicity of the process if the sectional curvature is negative.

In this paper, we study the $H^s$-stability of the log-log blowup regime (which has been completely described in a series of recent works by Merle and Raphael) for the focusing mass-critical nonlinear Schr\"odinger equations $i\partial_tu+\Delta u+|u|^\frac4du=0$ in $\mathbb{R}^d$ with $d\geq3$. Let $(M,\theta)$ be a compact strictly pseudoconvex pseudohermitian manifold which is CR embedded into a complex space. In an earlier paper, Lin and the authors gave several sharp upper bounds for the first positive eigenvalue $\lambda_1$ of the Kohn-Laplacian $\Box_b$ on $(M,\theta)$. In the present paper, we give a sharp upper bound for $\lambda_1$, generalizing and extending some previous results. As a corollary, we obtain a Reilly-type estimate when $M$ is embedded into the standard sphere. In another direction, using a Lichnerowicz-type estimate by Chanillo, Chiu, and Yang and an explicit formula for the Webster scalar curvature, we give a lower bound for $\lambda_1$ when the pseudohermitian structure $\theta$ is volume-normalized., Comment: 11 pages

In this Paper we study a Bloch-Torrey regularization of the Rosensweig system for ferrofluids. The scope of this paper is twofold. First of all, we investigate the existence and uniqueness of solutions \`a la Leray of this model in the whole bidimensional space. Interesting enough, the well-posedness relies on a variation of the Aubin-Lions lemma for fractional time derivatives. In the second part of this paper we investigate both the long- time behavior of weak solutions and the propagation of Sobolev regularities in dimension two

In this paper, we prove that the net of transition chain is $\delta$-dense for nearly integrable positive definite Hamiltonian systems with 3 degrees of freedom in the cusp-residual generic sense in $C^r$-topology, $r\ge 6$. The main ingredients of the proof existed in \cite{CZ,C17a,C17b}. As an immediate consequence, Arnold diffusion exists among this class of Hamiltonian systems. Vector-valued discrete Fourier transforms (DFTs) and ambiguity functions are defined. The motivation for the definitions is to provide realistic modeling of multi-sensor environments in which a useful time-frequency analysis is essential. The definition of the DFT requires associated uncertainty principle inequalities. The definition of the ambiguity function requires a component that leads to formulating a mathematical theory in which two essential algebraic operations can be made compatible in a natural way. The theory is referred to as frame multiplication theory. These definitions, inequalities, and theory are interdependent, and they are the content of the paper with the centerpiece being frame multiplication theory. The technology underlying frame multiplication theory is the theory of frames, short time Fourier transforms (STFTs), and the representation theory of finite groups. The main results have the following form: frame multiplication exists if and only if the finite frames that arise in the theory are of a certain type, e.g., harmonic frames, or, more generally, group frames. In light of the complexities and the importance of the modeling of time-varying and dynamical systems in the context of effectively analyzing vector-valued multi-sensor environments, the theory of vector-valued DFTs and ambiguity functions must not only be mathematically meaningful, but it must have constructive implementable algorithms, and be computationally viable. This paper presents our vision for resolving these issues, in terms of a significant mathematical theory, and based on the goal of formulating and developing a useful vector-valued theory.

This paper is concerned with spherical harmonics, and two refinements thereof: complex harmonics and symplectic harmonics. The reproducing kernels of the spherical and complex harmonics are explicitly given in terms of Gegenbauer or Jacobi polynomials. In the first part of the paper we determine the reproducing kernel for the space of symplectic harmonics, which is again expressible as a Jacobi polynomial of a suitable argument. In the second part we find plane wave formulas for the reproducing kernels of the three types of harmonics, expressing them as suitable integrals over Stiefel manifolds. This is achieved using Pizzetti formulas that express the integrals in terms of differential operators.

We are concerned with the global existence and large time behavior of entropy solutions to the one dimensional unipolar hydrodynamic model for semiconductors in the form of Euler-Poisson equations in a bounded interval. In this paper, we first prove the global existence of entropy solution by vanishing viscosity and compensated compactness framework. In particular, the solutions are uniformly bounded with respect to space and time variables by introducing modified Riemann invariants and the theory of invariant region. Based on the uniform estimates of density, we further show that the entropy solution converges to the corresponding unique stationary solution exponentially in time. No any smallness condition is assumed on the initial data and doping profile. Moreover, the novelty in this paper is about the unform bound with respect to time for the weak solutions of the isentropic Euler-Possion system.

In this paper, we give a resolution of the generalized Fermat equations $$x^5 + y^5 = 3 z^n \text{ and } x^{13} + y^{13} = 3 z^n,$$ for all integers $n \ge 2$, and all integers $n \ge 2$ which are not a multiple of $7$, respectively, using the modular method with Frey elliptic curves over totally real fields. The results require a refined application of the multi-Frey technique, which we show to be effective in new ways to reduce the bounds on the exponents $n$. We also give a number of results for the equations $x^5 + y^5 = d z^n$, where $d = 1, 2$, under additional local conditions on the solutions. The goal of this paper is to investigate the stability of the Helmholtz equation in the high- frequency regime with non-smooth and rapidly oscillating coefficients on bounded domains. Existence and uniqueness of the problem can be proved using the unique continuation principle in Fredholm's alternative. However, this approach does not give directly a coefficient-explicit energy estimate. We present a new theoretical approach for the one-dimensional problem and find that for a new class of coefficients, including coefficients with an arbitrary number of discontinuities, the stability constant (i.e., the norm of the solution operator) is bounded by a term independent of the number of jumps. We emphasize that no periodicity of the coefficients is required. By selecting the wave speed function in a certain \resonant" way, we construct a class of oscillatory configurations, such that the stability constant grows exponentially in the frequency. This paper concerns the initial-boundary value problem to 2D micropolar equations without angular viscosity in a smooth bounded domain. It is shown that such a system admits a unique and global weak solution. This paper concerns the dynamics of a layer of incompressible viscous fluid lying above a rigid plane and with an upper boundary given by a free surface. The fluid is subject to a constant external force with a horizontal component, which arises in modeling the motion of such a fluid down an inclined plane, after a coordinate change. We consider the problem both with and without surface tension for horizontally periodic flows. This problem gives rise to shear-flow equilibrium solutions, and the main thrust of this paper is to study the asymptotic stability of the equilibria in certain parameter regimes. We prove that there exists a parameter regime in which sufficiently small perturbations of the equilibrium at time $t=0$ give rise to global-in-time solutions that return to equilibrium exponentially in the case with surface tension and almost exponentially in the case without surface tension. It is an important problem in differential geometry to find non-naturally reductive homogeneous Einstein metrics on homogeneous manifolds. In this paper, we consider this problem for some coset spaces of compact simple Lie groups. A new method to construct invariant non-naturally reductive Einstein metrics on normal homogeneous Einstein manifolds is presented. In particular, we show that on the standard homogeneous Einstein manifolds, except for some special cases, there exist plenty of such metrics. A further interesting result of this paper is that on some compact semisimple Lie groups, there exist a large number of left invariant non-naturally reductive Einstein metrics which are not product metrics., Comment: 29 pages

In this paper we consider the Prym map for double coverings of curves of genus $g$ ramified at $r>0$ points. That is, the map associating to a double ramified covering its Prym variety. The generic Torelli theorem states that the Prym map is generically injective as soon as the dimension of the space of coverings is less or equal to the dimension of the space of polarized abelian varieties. We prove the generic injectivity of the Prym map in the cases of double coverings of curves with: (a) $g=2$, $r=6$, and (b) $g= 5$, $r=2$. In the first case the proof is constructive and can be extended to the range $r\ge \max \{6,\frac 23(g+2) \}$. For (b) we study the fibre along the locus of the intermediate Jacobians of cubic threefolds to conclude the generic injectivity. This completes the work of Marcucci and Pirola who proved this theorem for all the other cases, except for the bielliptic case $g=1$ (solved later by Marcucci and the first author), and the case $g=3, r=4$ considered previously by Nagaraj and Ramanan, and also by Bardelli, Ciliberto and Verra where the degree of the map is $3$. This paper is concerned with the inverse problem of reconstructing a small object from far field measurements by using the field interaction with a plasmonic particle which can be viewed as a passive sensor. It is a follow-up of the work [H. Ammari et al., Reconstructing fine details of small objects by using plasmonic spectroscopic data, SIAM J. Imag. Sci., to appear], where the intermediate interaction regime was considered. In that regime, it was shown that the presence of the target object induces small shifts to the resonant frequencies of the plasmonic particle. These shifts, which can be determined from the far field data, encodes the contracted generalized polarization tensors of the target object, from which one can perform reconstruction beyond the usual resolution limit. The main argument is based on perturbation theory. However, the same argument is no longer applicable in the strong interaction regime as considered in this paper due to the large shift induced by strong field interaction between the particles. We develop a novel technique based on conformal mapping theory to overcome this difficulty. The key is to design a conformal mapping which transforms the two particle system into a shell-core structure, in which the inner dielectric core corresponds to the target object. We show that a perturbation argument can be used to analyze the shift in the resonant frequencies due to the presence of the inner dielectric core. This shift also encodes information of the contracted polarization tensors of the core, from which one can reconstruct its shape, and hence the target object. Our theoretical findings are supplemented by a variety of numerical results based on an efficient optimal control algorithm. In analogy with the study of representations of $GL_{2n}(F)$ distinguished by $Sp_{2n}(F)$, where $F$ is a local field, in this paper we study representations of $U_{2n}(F)$ distinguished by $Sp_{2n}(F)$. (Only quasi-split unitary groups are considered in this paper since they are the only ones which contain $Sp_{2n}(F)$.) We prove that there are no cuspidal representations of $U_{2n}(F)$ distinguished by $Sp_{2n}(F)$ for $F$ a non-archimedean local field. We also prove the corresponding global theorem that there are no cuspidal representations of $U_{2n}({\mathbb A}_k)$ with nonzero period integral on $Sp_{2n}(k) \backslash Sp_{2n}({\mathbb A}_k)$ for $k$ any number field or a function field. We completely classify representations of quasi-split unitary group in four variables over local and global fields with nontrivial symplectic periods using methods of theta correspondence. We propose a conjectural answer for the classification of all representations of a quasi-split unitary group distinguished by $Sp_{2n}(F)$., Comment: minor changes; to appear in the Transactions of the AMS

We construct virtual cycles on moduli spaces of perturbed gauged Witten equation over a fixed smooth r -spin curve, under the framework of [TX15]. Together with the wall-crossing formula proved in the companion paper [TX19], it completes the construction of the correlation function for the gauged linear sigma model announced in [TX16] as well as the proof of its invariance., Comment: The original version is split into two parts as requested by the journal. We apply the local removable singularity theorem for minimal laminations and the local picture theorem on the scale of topology to obtain two descriptive results for certain possibly singular minimal laminations of $\mathbb{R}^3$. These two global structure theorems will be applied in forthcoming papers to obtain bounds on the index and the number of ends of complete, embedded minimal surfaces of fixed genus and finite topology in $\mathbb{R}^3$, and to prove that a complete, embedded minimal surface in $\mathbb{R}^3$ with finite genus and a countable number of ends is proper., Comment: 43 pages, 7 figures. This paper describes the analysis of Lagrange interpolation errors on tetrahedrons. In many textbooks, the error analysis of Lagrange interpolation is conducted under geometric assumptions such as shape regularity or the (generalized) maximum angle condition. In this paper, we present a new estimation in which the error is bounded in terms of the diameter and projected circumradius of the tetrahedron. Because we do not impose any geometric restrictions on the tetrahedron itself, our error estimation may be applied to any tetrahedralizations of domains including very thin tetrahedrons., Comment: To appear in Journal of Approximation Theory

Inspired by work of McMullen, we show that any orbit of the diagonal group in the space of lattices accumulates on the set of stable lattices. In this paper we consider a new kind of inequality related to fractional integration, motivated by Gressman's paper. Based on it we investigate its multilinear analogue inequalities. Combining with the Gressman's work on multilinear integral, we establish this new kind of geometric inequalities with bilinear form and multilinear form in more general settings. Moreover, in some cases we also find the best constants and optimisers for these geometric inequalities on Euclidean spaces with Lebesgue measure settings with $L^p$ bounds.

Classical mechanical systems are modeled by a symplectic manifold $(M,\omega)$, and their symmetries, encoded in the action of a Lie group $G$ on $M$ by diffeomorphisms that preserves $\omega$. These actions, which are called "symplectic", have been studied in the past forty years, following the works of Atiyah, Delzant, Duistermaat, Guillemin, Heckman, Kostant, Souriau, and Sternberg in the 1970s and 1980s on symplectic actions of compact abelian Lie groups that are, in addition, of "Hamiltonian" type, i.e. they also satisfy Hamilton's equations. Since then a number of connections with combinatorics, finite dimensional integrable Hamiltonian systems, more general symplectic actions, and topology, have flourished. In this paper we review classical and recent results on Hamiltonian and non Hamiltonian symplectic group actions roughly starting from the results of these authors. This paper is a contribution to the study of the subgroup structure of exceptional algebraic groups over algebraically closed fields of arbitrary characteristic. Following Serre, a closed subgroup of a semisimple algebraic group $G$ is called irreducible if it lies in no proper parabolic subgroup of $G$. In this paper we complete the classification of irreducible connected subgroups of exceptional algebraic groups, providing an explicit set of representatives for the conjugacy classes of such subgroups. Many consequences of this classification are also given. These include results concerning the representations of such subgroups on various $G$-modules: for example, the conjugacy classes of irreducible connected subgroups are determined by their composition factors on the adjoint module of $G$, with one exception. A result of Liebeck and Testerman shows that each irreducible connected subgroup $X$ of $G$ has only finitely many overgroups and hence the overgroups of $X$ form a lattice. We provide tables that give representatives of each conjugacy class of overgroups within this lattice structure. We use this to prove results concerning the subgroup structure of $G$: for example, when the characteristic is 2, there exists a maximal connected subgroup of $G$ containing a conjugate of every irreducible subgroup $A_1$ of $G$., Comment: 196 pages. This paper is concerned with the scattering problem for time-harmonic electromagnetic waves, due to the presence of scatterers and of inhomogeneities in the medium. We prove a sharp stability result for the solutions to the direct electromagnetic scattering problem, with respect to variations of the scatterer and of the inhomogeneity, under minimal regularity assumptions for both of them. The stability result leads to uniform bounds on solutions to the scattering problems for an extremely general class of admissible scatterers and inhomogeneities. The uniform bounds are a key step to tackle the challenging stability issue for the corresponding inverse electromagnetic scattering problem. In this paper we establish two optimal stability results of logarithmic type for the determination of polyhedral scatterers by a minimal number of electromagnetic scattering measurements. In order to prove the stability result for the direct electromagnetic scattering problem, we study two fundamental issues in the theory of Maxwell equations: Mosco convergence for H(curl) spaces and higher integrability properties of solutions to Maxwell equations in nonsmooth domains., Comment: 48 pages. The category of framed correspondences $Fr_*(k)$ and framed sheaves were invented by Voevodsky in his unpublished notes [V2]. Based on the theory, framed motives are introduced and studied in [GP1]. These are Nisnivich sheaves of $S^1$-spectra and the major computational tool of [GP1]. The aim of this paper is to show the following result which is essential in proving the main theorem of [GP1]: given an infinite perfect base field $k$, any $k$-smooth scheme $X$ and any $n\geq 1$, the map of simplicial pointed Nisnevich sheaves $(-,\mathbb{A}^1//\mathbb G_m)^{\wedge n}_+\to T^n$ induces a Nisnevich local level weak equivalence of $S^1$-spectra $$M_{fr}(X\times (\mathbb{A}^1// \mathbb G_m)^{\wedge n})\to M_{fr}(X\times T^n).$$ Moreover, it is proven that the sequence of $S^1$-spectra $$M_{fr}(X \times T^n \times \mathbb G_m) \to M_{fr}(X \times T^n \times\mathbb A^1) \to M_{fr}(X \times T^{n+1})$$ is locally a homotopy cofiber sequence in the Nisnevich topology. Another important result of this paper shows that homology of framed motives is computed as linear framed motives in the sense of [GP1]. For a pair $(M, I)$, where $M$ is finitely generated graded module over a standard graded ring $R$ of dimension $d$, and $I$ is a graded ideal with $\ell(R/I) < \infty$, we introduce a new invariant $HKd(M, I)$ called the {\em Hilbert-Kunz density function}. In Theorem 1.1, we relate this to the Hilbert-Kunz multiplicity $e_{HK}(M,I)$ by an integral formula. We prove that the Hilbert-Kunz density function is additive. Moreover it satisfies a multiplicative formula for a Segre product of rings. This gives a formula for $e_{HK}$ of the Segre product of rings in terms of the HKd of the rings involved. As a corollary, $e_{HK}$ of the Segre product of any finite number of Projective curves is a rational number. As an another application we see that $e_{HK}(R, {\bf m}^k) - e(R, {\bf m}^k)/d!$ grows at least as a fixed positive multiple of $k^{d-1}$ as $k\to \infty$., This paper is one part of the earlier submission, which has been split in two parts. In his seminal paper, half a century ago, Hyman Bass established commutator formulas for a (stable) general linear group, which were the key step in defining the group K 1. Namely, he proved that for an associative ring A with identity, $$ E(A)=\left[E(A),E(A)\right]=\left[\mathrm{GL}(A),\mathrm{GL}(A)\right], $$ where GL(A) is the stable general linear group and E(A) is its elementary subgroup. Since then, various commutator formulas have been studied in stable and non-stable settings for classical groups, algebraic groups, and their analogs, and mostly in relation to subnormal subgroups of these groups. The basic classical theorems and methods developed for their proofs are associated with the names of the heroes of classical algebraic K-theory: Bak, Quillen, Milnor, Suslin, Swan, Vaserstein, and others. One of the dominant techniques in establishing commutator type results is localization. In the present paper, some recent applications of localization methods to the study (higher/relative) commutators in the groups of points of algebraic and algebraic-like groups, such as general linear groups GL(n,A), unitary groups GU(2n,A, Λ), and Chevalley groups G(Φ,A), are described. Some auxiliary results and corollaries of the main results are also stated. The paper provides a general overview of the subject and covers the current activities. It contains complete proofs borrowed from our previous papers and expositions of several main results to give the reader a self-contained source.
