- Abstract
The article offers information on true wasabi or Wasabia japonica, a semiaquatic herb native to Japanese mountain streams. It states that both wasabi and horseradish are types of the genus Brassica, together with radishes, turnips, kale, cabbage and mustards. It also notes that wasabi could take several years to become large enough to have harvestable rhizomes. Also emphasized is that Doctor Brian Oates became the only person in North America who has figured out how to get wasabi to germinate.
