Why some scientists perform better than others? This has been an important research question in sociology of science. Previous studies have been focusing on the impact of personal and organizational factors on scientific performance, including age, gender, prestige of institutes, etc. Recently, the relationship between scientists' social networks and their performance has become a new arena of interest.
