Many professional organizations are committed to making minorities join their profession, but smaller organizations are doing a more sincere job than the bigger ones. The National Association of Broadcasters, the American Bar Association, the American Medical Association and organizations of scientists are taking efforts to attract minorities to their professions.

The growing use of on-line services in publishing industry has led to controversies over copyrights. Authors selling stories to be printed protest against copyright infringement when the material is used by electronic information services. The National Writers Union has sued newspapers such as the New York Times, Newsday and Time claiming compensation for unauthorized publication of news items.
