In this article, the authors discuss aspects of the Intelligent Buildings, a sustainable building design course offered at Drexel University. According to the authors, the course use the application of combined building information modeling (BIM) and life-cycle assessment (LCA) to produce a proper evaluation of engineering design. The authors state that the course aims to convey the environmental significance of engineered buildings and to understand the use of a life-cycle framework.
