Abstract

The article discusses a study by Boixel and colleagues which found that incubation with aldosterone for 24 hour increased current density in a dose-dependent manner and lengthened the action potential duration. The effects appeared dependent on the mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) because it was blocked with the MR antagonist spironolactone but not with the glucocorticoid receptor antagonist RU-38486.
