Abstract: A method for determining points on surface ridgelines from weather satellite photographs is based on unique cloud forms coincident with the surface ridge. Illustrations of the method are presented. Statistical tests are run on the method to check its validity. The results show an acceptable level of accuracy. Possible problem areas are discussed.
