We report the experimental observation of second-order corner states in a two-dimensional breathing honeycomb topolectrical circuit with sixfold rotational symmetry C 6 through voltage measurements. The topological corner states originate from the nontrivial bulk topology, which can be characterized by the topological invariant associated with the rotation eigenspectrum. We confirm two types of corner states, both originate from the C 6 symmetry, while one of them is specially pinned to zero admittance because of the emerging chiral symmetry protection. We then examine the robustness of zero modes in the presence of next-nearest-neighbor hopping terms that destroy chiral symmetry but still preserve C 6 symmetry. The macroscopic stretchability of ionomer melts strongly relies on the structural evolution during the elongational flow. It has been noted that the introduction of the secondary associations weaker than the ionic association can improve the stretchability. To understand the mechanism, this study examines the stretchability of unentangled ionomers containing a fixed number of ionic groups per chain, f ion ≅ 4 , but a varied number of hydrogen bonds per chain, fH = 5.5–27. The stretchability that is reflected in the maximum Hencky strain achieved before rupture shows nonmonotonous change with fH: the stretchability improves with increasing fH from 5.5 to 14 while it decreases upon further increasing fH to 27. The former improvement is attributed to the slowing down of chain retraction after the strain-induced dissociation of ionic groups. The slowing down would suppress the formation of defects or small cracks that potentially grow into the fracture. This mechanism, i.e., strain-induced dissociation followed by the chain retraction, holds only in a window where the elongational rate is faster than the ionic dissociation rate but slower than the chain retraction rate. This study examines the linear viscoelasticity of double-associative ionomers based on poly(hexyl methacrylate). The ionomer samples are unentangled and contain a fixed number of ionic stickers per chain, f ion ≅ 4 , but a varied number of hydrogen-bonding stickers per chain, fH = 5.5–27. Increasing fH has distinct effects on the glassy and rubbery dynamics. On the one hand, the glassy relaxation mode distribution broadens, and the glassy-to-rubbery transition region delays significantly with increasing fH. On the other hand, the delay of the ionic dissociation and, accordingly, the terminal relaxation (activated by continuous ionic dissociations) are much weaker. This contrast suggests that the ionic dissociation is not only activated by the segmental motion of the main backbone but is also partly activated by the motion of the side chains that is less dependent on fH. This paper proposes a circularly-polarized (CP) metasurface antenna with ultra-wideband radar cross section (RCS) reduction. Initially, the relationship between RCS reduction and phase difference with different reflection amplitudes is analyzed theoretically. Inspired by the shared-aperture principle, a high-frequency resistive layer is introduced into the antenna element to further fulfill ultra-wideband RCS reduction and low-profile requirements. Numerical simulations demonstrate that the inserted layer has no effect on the radiation performance of the antenna array. Then, the proposed element and its orthogonal unit are arranged in a checkerboard pattern for good CP radiation. In this configuration, the proposed metasurface array antenna has a maximum gain of 16.7 dBi with 72.1% aperture efficiency. The bandwidth of 5 dB RCS reduction with x- and y-polarized incidences is 7.10–17.95 GHz and 7.34–17.85 GHz, respectively. Generally, a double corner-cut square structure transmission linear to circular polarization conversion metasurface (DCS-PCM) is difficult to realize circularly polarized radiation when it is applied to a linearly polarized microstrip antenna as electromagnetic surfaces superstrate. A novel composite transmission metasurface (NCTM) with dual functions of linear to circular polarization conversion and polarization selection is proposed and verified. For a y-polarized incident wave, transmission linear to right-hand circular polarization conversion can be realized from 8.43 GHz to 9.50 GHz, and for an x-polarized incident wave, co-polarized total reflection can be realized. Different from the DCS-PCM, the unit cell of the NCTM is made up of a corner-cut square, a substrate, and a polarization gate. Thanks to the novel design of polarization gates, the proposed NCTM is easier to realize circularly polarized radiation when it is applied to a linearly polarized source antenna. The realized gain of the antenna with NCTM can be improved because of the Fabry–Pérot resonant cavity, and the maximum amplitude of the gain improvement is 6.8 dBi. The results of simulation and experiment show that the linearly polarized microstrip antenna with NCTM can realize circularly polarized radiation with an axial ratio less than 3 dB and a significant gain improvement simultaneously. A reconfigurable ultra-wideband reflective polarization conversion metasurface (RUR-PCM) is proposed. The unit cell of the RUR-PCM consists of an anisotropic metal patch incorporated with a voltage controlled PIN diode, a dielectric layer, and a metal ground. When the PIN diode is switched on, the RUR-PCM can convert an incident linearly polarized electromagnetic (EM) wave to its orthogonal counterpart; when the PIN diode is switched off, the RUR-PCM can convert a linearly polarized EM wave to a circularly polarized one. The performance of the RUR-PCM is further improved by adding the superstrate and the "double L" metal patch to the unit cell of the RUR-PCM. Simulated and experimental results show that the RUR-PCM is able to achieve linear-to-linear (LTL) polarization conversion in the frequency range of 6.5–19.9 GHz with the polarization conversion ratio higher than 90%, and linear-to-circular (LTC) polarization conversion in the frequency range of 7.6–23.6 GHz, with the axial ratio better than 3 dB. Therefore, the LTL and the LTC polarization conversion methods are integrated into one metasurface in an ultra-wideband range, and each unit uses only one PIN diode, which makes the RUR-PCM have a broad application prospect in secure communication and polarization compatibility.
