We analysed the broadband light curves of the flat spectrum radio quasar (FSRQ) 3C 273 between September 2008 and August 2012. The discrete correlation function (DCF) probed the correlation between light curves at different frequencies. This method showed a correlation between the gamma-ray emission and the radio mm-emission, as well as with the optical polarisation. This result indicated a non-thermal origin for the gamma-ray emission. Using the time lags from the correlation results, we found the relative separation distance between the gamma-ray and the radio emission regions. Our results showed that the gammaray emission is coming from a compact region close to the core (1.2 ± 0.9 pc from the jet apex). The X-ray emission has two components, one coming from the jet through inverse Compton mechanisms while the other is coming most probably from the hot corona through reflection off the disk. The radio emission at high frequencies is coming from regions downstream the jets and is leading the emission at cm-radio bands. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We report first observational results of multifrequency campaigns on the prominent Virgo blazars 3C 273 and 3C 279 which were carried out in January and February 1999. Both blazars are detected from radio to γ-ray energies. We present the measured X- to γ-ray spectra of both sources, and for 3C 279 we compare the 1999 broad-band (radio to γ-ray) spectrum to measured previous ones. © 2000 American Institute of Physics. The Large Area Telescope (LAT) instrument onboard GLAST offers a tremendous opportunity for future blazar studies. In order to fully benefit from its capabilities and to maximize the scientific return from the LAT, it is of great importance to conduct dedicated multi-frequency monitoring campaigns that will result comprehensive observations. Consequently, we initiated an effort to conduct a GLAST-dedicated, quasi-simultaneous, broad-band flux-density (and polarization) monitoring of potential GLAST blazars with the Effelsberg and OVRO radio telescopes (11 cm to 7 mm wavelength). Here, we present a short overview of these activities which will complement the multi-wavelengths activities of the GLAST/LAT collaboration towards the ‘low-energy’ radio bands. Further we will give a brief outlook including the extension of this coordinated campaign towards higher frequencies and future scientific aims. © 2007 American Institute of Physics [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
