The most important element of forensic science is detecting and identifying trace compounds from complicated mediums. Drugs, poisons, explosives, DNA, GSR, fire accelerants, and other compounds are examples of these trace evidences. Forensic science is an emerging area that requires efficient and constructive analytical procedures, and molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) can be quite useful in on-going research. On account of its stability, robustness, specificity, cost value, longer storage, and shelf life, this method has a wide spectrum of uses in a variety of disciplines, such as the food manufacturing industry, environmental study, and drug delivery system development, in making of biosensors, sample pre-treatment, and separation/extraction. Major focus is on the impacts of this approach in this review, such as detection, extraction, and instrumentation. Molecularly Imprinted Polymers (MIPs) are artificial sorbents that have cavity that can absorb target molecules with very high selectivity and sensitivity. The purpose of this research was to produce MIPs microsphere as uric acid absorbers by photopolymerization method using Ultra-Violet light as a free radical activator. The results showed that the synthesized MIPs microsphere succeeded to absorb uric acid as shown in the results of the FTIR analysis. The FTIR spectra showed that there was no N-H peak in MIPs microsphere, while the MIPs re-extraction microsphere had a C-N absorption peak at 1142.84 cm−1. The C-N functional group was the group found in uric acid. Analysis of uric acid absorption by MIPs used UV-Vis spectrophotometer for uric acid in solution and Easy-Touch for uric acid in the blood. At optimum conditions (amount of MIPs microsphere was 0.08 grams, pH of the uric acid solution 7.57 with 24 hours), the percentage of absorption produced is 47.9% for uric acid in solution, while the percentage of MIPs absorption in the blood is 20.33%. Molecularly Imprinted Polymers (MIPs) have been synthesized and can be used as uric acid absorbent in samples. MIPs can absorb uric acid because MIPs have cavities were formed by the removal of uric acid. The purpose of this research was to determine the synthesis, characteristics of MIPs membrane, and MIPs absorption for uric acid at optimum conditions. The method used for the synthesis of MIPs membrane is the photopolymerization method using Ultra-Violet light. Determination of uric acid levels in solution was analyzed by spectrophotometer UV-Vis and in blood by Easy Touch. Based on the research obtained a transparent uric acid MIPs membrane. The result of the FTIR spectrum analysis showed that the infrared spectra characterization of the MIPs-extraction membrane did not find N-H absorption peak, while in the MIPs re-extraction there was an absorption peak in the 910-665. The N-H group is the functional group of uric acid. Based on absorption under optimum conditions the number of MIPs membrane used was 0.08 grams with contact time of 24 hours and pH of 7.57 uric acid solution obtained the efficiency of MIPs absorption in solution was 72.6%, while the efficiency of MIPs absorption of uric acid in the blood was 24.6 %. Molecularly Imprinted Polymers (MIPs) are polymers that have cavities due to the release of template molecules. MIPs have a high degree of selectivity and sensitivity. The purpose of this study, produce MIPs as uric acid absorbents using the stober method, namely heating at certain temperature. Determination of uric acid levels absorbed by MIPs was analyzed by UV-Vis spectrophotometer, while for analysis of uric acid in blood using Easy Touch QCU. The results that MIPs were able to absorb uric acid which was analyzed by FTIR. The FTIR spectra showed the absorption peak of the N-H group of uric acid in the re-extraction MIPs at wavelength of 910-665 cm-1. While the extraction MIPs did not have an absorption peak of the N-H group. The spectra of the N-H group are the spectra of the uric acid functional group. At the optimum conditions (amount of MIPs 0.08 grams, absorption time of 24 hours and pH of uric acid solution 7.3), the efficiency of MIPs absorption against uric acid is 74.4%, while the efficiency of MIPs absorption in the blood is 16.9%. Lead is one of the metal elements that are commonly found in many environmental samples including airborne particulates. Determination of low levels of lead with a good degree of accuracy and high selectivity is still a challenge because the lead concentration in the environment is quite low due to the complexity of the matrix in environmental samples. Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) with Ion Imprinted Polymers / IIPs which are used as functional materials is one of the most widely used method for separation and preconcentration metal ions. Lead(II) imprinted polymers (Pb-IIPs) in this research were prepared by bulk polymerization method involving the Pb (II) ternary complex with PAR (ligand) and 4-vinylpyridine (functional monomer), methacrylic acid (monomer), trimethylolproprane trimethacrylate (TRIM, cross-linker), BPO (initiator), and methanol (porogen). The polymer was characterized by using FTIR. IIPs capacity to rebind Pb(II) was investigated from aqueous solutions. Effect of pH and concentration of Pb(II) ion in batch methode were studied. The concentration of Pb(II) ions was determined by Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (FAAS). The optimum condition for Pb(II) adsorption was obtained at pH 6.0, and maximum adsorption capacity for Pb-IIP achieved 7,47 mg/g polymer which is higher than the Non Imprinted Polymers (NIPs) showing the significant effect of ion templated. The adsorption capacity value of synthesized Pb-IIPs has shown the potential to be used as a sorbent for lead ion preconcentration in airborne particulate samples which has lower concentration of lead ions. The molecularly imprinted polymer prepared by using Sulfamethoxazole (SMT) as the template as well as allyl chloride (AYC) as monomer, used (TMPTA) trimethylolpropane tri acrylate as cross-linker and initiator using (BP) benzyl peroxide. By used different plasticizers (di butyl Phthalate (DBPH), Nitrobenzene (NB), oleic acid (OA) and paraffin) membranes of MIPs were prepared in PVC matrix. The characterizations of each electrode were determined The Slope range from (55.946 - 43.271) mV/decade, Limit of Detection (1x10 −1 – 1x 10 −5) and Linearity range of electrodes MIPs from (1 X 10 −6 - 6 X 10 −7). Molecularly imprinted (MIP) and blank polymers with afinity for nonylphenol were synthesized by a bulk method using methacrylic acid (MAA) as functional monomer, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as crosslinker (EGDMA), benzoyl peroxide (BPO) as initiator, nonylphenol (NP) as template molecules, and acetonitrile as porogen. The performance of imprinted material was characterized by SEM, FTIR, and TGA. The result indicated that this material had not only binding properties but also high selectivity to the template molecule and having high afinity of imprinted polymers (MIP-NP) towards the template nonylphenol as compared with blank polymers (NIP), which had good application prospects in the selective enrichment and separation of NP for analysis of complex environmental samples. Cadmium become one of toxic heavy metals that can be dangerous for human lives. At very low concentration, cadmium cannot be determined by instrument easily. Ion Imprinted Polymer (IIP) is used to recognize and separating heavy metal ion that works with trapping method in polymer matrices that are crosslinked with chelating agent. In this research, IIP via bulk polymerization with cadmium ion as template, 8-Hydroxyquinoline as ligand, methyl methacrylate as functional monomer, EGDMA as Crosslinker, and AIBN as Initiator was successfully synthesized. The effect of ratio of ligand and monomer (1:1, 1:2, 1:3) to IIP was studied. The synthesized IIP was characterized by AAS, FTIR, SEM, and TGA. Adsorption capacity of IIP reach optimum capacity at pH 6 with 60 minutes contact time. IIP with ratio 1:2 has the adsorption mechanism of both IIP and NIP followed to the Freundlich equation with R2 0.9214 and maximum adsorption capacity of Cd(II) was 335.58 mg/g for IIP and 105.46 mg/g for NIP respectively. Furthermore the kinetics model followed the pseudo first order with R2 0.9722, this results show that the adsorption mechanism took place on initial time of adsorption. In this study, a fresh method with high sensitivity, low cost and high stability has been developed by using a molecularly impressed polymer (MIP). A functional monomers namely, acrylic acid (AA) and acrylamide-2methyl propane sulphonic acid (AMPS) were also used. Appropriate cross-linking and CLO template were used to generate monolithic solid-phase micro-extraction (SPME) fiber. A non-imprinted polymer (NIP) was also developed without selective binding places. The firmness, stability and durability of the manufactured fiber give it vital place in SPME. Samples were obtained from clopidogrel were measured by using UV-vis, Electron Microscopy Scanning (SEM) and FTIR. The relative standard deviation %RSD and recovery test %R for three drug based on triplicate analysis of samples have been determined. Novel granular organic-inorganic molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) based on 2-hydroxyethyl ethacrylate (HEMA) and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) were prepared by copolymerization on the surface of selenium (Se) nanoparticles stabilized with poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) at different concentrations of cholesterol as a template molecule. The synthesis occurred in Pickering microemulsion. The obtained compounds are intended for use as selective hemosorbents in efferent therapy of hypercholesterolemia. The sorbents were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and sorption experiments. It was revealed that MIPs possess a more pronounced porous structure as compared to that of the reference non-imprinted polymer (NIP). The influence of the amount of introduced cholesterol template on physico-chemical and sorption properties of MIPs was investigated. It was found that erythromycin sorption on molecularly imprinted sorbents with different architecture carried out in a quasi-equilibrium regime. Molecular imprinting of the polymer matrix led to an improvement in the diffusion mass transfer of erythromycin molecules into monolithic MIPS. Glucose being the major metabolite, acts as an important source of energy for the human body. Time-based monitoring for glucose level in body fluids is necessary for the patients suffering from Diabetes Mellitus. Ensuring optimal concentration of glucose is a pre-requisite for food manufacturing i.e., during the fermentation process to produce alcoholic beverages, fruit juices, sweeteners, confectioneries etc. The electrochemical detection of glucose using non-enzymatic method is most prominent for commercial applications. This is due to the fact that the electrochemical sensors possess rapid and low levels of detection limits, its simplicity in manufacturing and handling, easiness in miniaturization and cost effective nature. This review focus on the non-enzymatic electrochemical sensors developed so far and gave special emphasize on the molecularly imprinting technique and copper nanoparticles for glucose detection. The metal nanoparticles allows the long range transfer of electron and thus have high conductivity. Mostly used nanoparticles are gold, palladium and silver, but copper being low cost can be preferred for the large scale production of sensors. The molecular imprinting techniques allows the selective binding of the template on to the recognition element of the sensor. The imprinted sites are formed in a similar manner to create a lock to fit the key. Thus, only the desired template can bind to the imprinted sites. Solid phase extraction is a preferable separation technique since it offers many advantages such as simple, good stability and can be regenerated over time. Due to presence of contaminant in the matrix, pre-concentration must be conducted using selective sorbent. Ion imprinted polymer (IIP) has remarkable selectivity and affinity towards the ion target due to its specific cavity during the imprinting process. In this study, Fe(III)-IIP was successfully synthesized by applying iron (template) with gallic acid (ligand) in acetonitrile and copolymerized using methyl methacrylate (functional monomer) and ethylene glycol dimethyl acrylate (EGDMA) as a crosslinker in the presence of azo-bis-isobutyronitrile (AIBN) as initiator. Fe(III)-IIP was characterized using FTIR, SEM-EDX, and TGA. Optimization of Fe(III)-IIP synthesis was carried out by varying the mole ratio of monomer to template (1:1, 2:1, and 3:1). Adsorption test exhibited the optimum ratio of 2:1 with the maximum adsorption capacity of 122.264 mg/g at pH 5 for 60 minutes contact time. The adsorption mechanism followed Freundlich equation with R² 0.9781. Relative selectivity of Fe(III)/Cr(III) and Fe(III)/Ag(I) were 3.41 and 0.707, respectively. The IIP was further tested for preconcentration of Fe(III) in lake water sample and obtained the % recovery value 102.02 %, 97.04 %, dan 96.61 %. In this research, the synthesis of molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP), Polyeugenol was used as a base polymer with EGDMA as the crosslinker. This research aims to produce a urea selective adsorbent. Polyeugenol produced from eugenol was bind with urea templates and cross-linked with EGDMA in a chloroform solvent and initiator 2, 2' azo-bis (2-methylpropionitril) (AIBN) producing a MIP. A non imprinted polymer (NIP) is also used in this study for comparison. Analysis of polymers and adsorbent characterized by FTIR spectrophotometer and SEM followed by adsorption test. MIP has higher adsorption results than the NIP. Besides, the size of urea, creatinine and vitamin B12 also affects the adsorption process. The Ionic imprinted polymer (IIP) Au (III) adsorbent has been synthesized using polyeugenol as a base polymer with ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as a crosslinking agent to adsorb Au (III) metal ions from water media. The synthesis procedure includes polymerization, binding of mold ions, crosslinking and mold ions release. As a comparison, the non-imprinted polymer (NIP) material was also synthesized. The polymer yielded was characterized using FTIR, SEM-EDX, and TGA-DTA and then continued with adsorption. Selective adsorption was tested for a mixture of Au (III) binary metal ions with Cd (II), Pb (II) and Fe (III). The adsorption mechanism of Au (III) in all adsorbents is dominant because of the coordination bond between the -OH group and the Au (III) hydrate. Imprinted zeolite modified carbon paste electrode as a potentiometric sensor for glucose analysis in blood serum sample has been developed. In this study, the type of used zeolite was TS-1. Imprinted zeolite (IZ) was synthesized with mole ratio of glucose/Si of 0.0306. The modified electrode prepared by mixing activated carbon, imprinted zeolite, and paraffin granule with mass ratio 9:4:7 from the measurement in range of 10-5 – 10-2 M is with Nernst factor of 28.6 mV/decade, and the detection limit of 4.79 x 10-5 M. The electrode was able to respond the glucose molecules in solution quickly (<30 s), stable for more than 9 weeks (130 times usage) and selective to glucose molecules. The urea, uric acid, and creatine with various concentrations did not interfere to glucose analysis by potentiometry using the electrode. Applying of the electrode for glucose analysis in spiked blood serum samples showed that it had recovery of 91.73±3.48% (n=5), while its accuracy against spectrophotometry method as commonly used method in medical field was 90.58±4.65% (n=5). Based on its performance, potentiometry using the imprinted zeolite modified carbon paste electrode is recommended as an alternative method for routine blood glucose analysis in the medical field. On the example of uric acid (UA) sorption extraction, the possibility of using molecularly imprinted polymeric sorbents (MIPS) for effective highly selective extraction of the target toxin from a constantly renewed solution was shown. The effects of the bed height of the MIPS-40 column and the flow rate of the constantly renewed solution on the efficiency of UA sorption extraction were studied. In this study describes the fluorescein methacrylate (FMA) used as fluorescence functional monomer in the synthesis of caffeine-imprinted fluorescence polymers (Caf-FMIP) for the selective recognition of caffeine. The Caf-FMIP was synthesized using bulk polymerization with non-covalent imprinting approach and the formation of -NH groups had interaction with caffeine and FMA moieties was confirmed by using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The absorption isotherm analysis of Caf-FMIP favors Freundlich model suggested the forming heterogeneous surface was occurred due to non-covalent imprinting approach. Fluorescence emissions of synthesized Caf-FMIP were 'switched on' in the presence of target molecule based on photo-induce electron transfer (PET) mechanism. In addition, Caf-FMIP fluorescence was enhanced more strongly by caffeine compared to non-imprinted polymer, which indicated that caffeine could recognized by the Caf-FMIP selectively. Molecular simulation techniques are important to study the understanding of chemical and physical properties of any material. Computational modeling is considered as time reducer in finding the best recipes for Molecularly-Imprinted Polymers (MIPs). In this study, Pyrogallol-imprinted polymers (PIP) and non-imprinted polymers (NIPs) were synthesized via precipitation polymerization using Pyrogallol (Py), methyl methacrylate (MMA), divinylbenzene (DVB) as template, functional monomer and cross-linker, respectively. The recipe was according to the results from computational techniques. The synthesized PIP and NIPs were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) and UV-visible spectroscopy (UV-vis). Studies on adsorption isotherm showed that PIP and NIPs follow Scatchard isotherm models. Sorption kinetic study found that PIP and NIPs follow pseudo-second order which indicates the rate-limiting step is the surface adsorption. Andrographolide is a popular medicinal compound derived from Andrographis Paniculata (AP). Molecularly Imprint Polymer (MIP) is a "Lock and Key" approach, where MIP is the lock and Andrographolide is the key which fits to the MIP lock by both physically and chemically. MIP will be used as selective extraction tool to enrich Andrographolide bioactive compound. Pre-polymerization step is crucial to design MIP. This work investigates molecular interactions and the Gibbs free binding energies on the development of MIP. The structure of Andrographolide (template) and functional monomers were drawn in HyperChem 8.0.10. A hybrid quantum chemical model was used with a few functional monomers. Possible conformations of template and functional monomer as 1:n (n < 4) were designed and simulated to geometrically optimize the complex to the lowest energy in gas phase. The Gibbs free binding energies of each conformation were calculated using semi-empirical PM3 simulation method. Results proved that functional monomers that contain carboxylic group shows higher binding energy compared to those with amine functional group. Itaconic acid (IA) chosen as the best functional monomer at optimum ratio (1:3) of template: monomer to prepare andrographolide MIP. This works reports the electrical performance of reduced graphene oxide (RGO)/Molecular imprinted polymer (MIP)- organic thin film transistor (OTFT) for amino-acid detection, serine. These biomimetic sensors consider MIP as man-tailored biomimetic recognition sites that play an important role in signal transduction. MIP provides recognition sites compatible with serine molecules was developed by dispersing serine with methylacrylate acid (MAA) as functional monomer and Ethylene glycol dimethylacrylate (EGDMA) as cross-linker. The imprinted polymeric were mixed with reduced graphene oxide to produced sensing layer for the sensor. RGO-MIP layer was introduced between source and drain of OTFT via spin coating as a detecting layer for serine molecules. RGO was introduced into MIP, to allow a highly conductive sensing material thus enhanced selectivity and sensitivity of the sensor. By analyzing the electrical performance of the sensors, the performances of OTFT sensor enhanced with RGO/MIP interlayer and OTFT sensor with MIP interlayer when exposed to serine analyte were obtained. The results showed that there were remarkable shifts of drain current (ID) obtained from OTFT sensor with RGO/MIP interlayer after exposed to serine analyte. Moreover, the sensitivity of OTFT sensor with RGO/MIP interlayer was nearly higher than the OTFT sensor with MIP interlayer. The membrane particles was prepared from polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polymer IIP with weight ratios of 1: 2 and 1: 1 using different adsorbent templates and casting thickness. The permeability of membrane towards Fe(III) and also mecanism of transport were studied. The selectivity of the membrane for Fe(III) was studied by performing adsorption experiments also with Cr(III) separately. In this study, the preparation of Ionic Imprinted Polymer (IIP) membrane particles for selective transport of Fe (III) had been done using polyeugenol as functional polymer. Polyeugenol was then imprinted with Fe (III) and then crosslinked with PEGDE under alkaline condition to produce polyeugenol-Fe-PEGDE polymer aggregates. The agrregates was then crushed and sieved using mesh size of 80 and the powder was then used to prepare the membrane particles by mixing it with PVA (Mr 125,000) solution in 1-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) solvent. The membrane was obtained after casting at a speed of 25 m/s and soaking in NaOH solution overnight. The membrane sheet was then cut and Fe(III) was removed by acid to produce IIP membrane particles. Analysis of the membrane and its constituent was done by XRD, SEM and size selectivity test. Experimental results showed the transport of Fe(III) was faster with the decrease of membrane thickness, while the higher concentration of template ion correlates with higher Fe(III) being transported. However, the transport of Fe(III) was slower for higher concentration of PVA in the membrane. IImparticles works through retarded permeation mechanism, where Fe(III) was bind to the active side of IIP. The active side of IIP membrane was dominated by the -OH groups. An electrochemical sensor for detection of mancozeb from soil and vegetable sample using molecularly imprinted star polymer modified with iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) is described in this work. We have prepared SPIONS by hydrothermal method and modified with vinyl silane to introduce double bond at their surface. The vinyl group modified SPIONs were used to form mancozeb imprinted star polymer (ISP). The ISPs have specific recognition ability high adsorption capacity towards their template molecule and could be easily extracted from complex matrices using a simple magnet. The prepared polymer was well characterized by field emissive scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). Under the optimum condition, the prepared sensor shows good response for mancozeb in the range of 5.96 to 222.39 μg L-1 (detection limit = 0.98 μg L-1). In this work, a sensitive and selective fluorescent molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) was developed for detection of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) biomarker i.e. alpha feto protein (AFP) using Ag/AgCl as platform. Here, the carbon dots and Ag/AgCl nanoparticles were functionalized with vinyl groups and used as functional monomer for synthesis of AFP-imprinted polymer. The imprinted polymer shows a linear range of 3.96 ng mL-1 to 80.0 ng mL-1 with detection limit of 0.42 ng mL-1.The adsorption property of the MIP@Ag/AgCl was studied and shows the high affinity binding towards their target analyte without any cross-reactivity and false-positive or false-negative results. Molecularly Imprinted Polymers (MIPs) for the selective recognition properties of curcumin (CUR), a cancer chemopreventive agent were obtained by a non-covalent imprinting approach with bisdemetoxycurcumin (BDMC) as the template molecule. The double bond of BDMC has been reduced in order not to be involved in polymerization and make the template molecules easy to be eluted. Several functional monomers have been evaluated to maximize the interactions with the template molecule during polymerization. MIPs prepared by bulk of N-(2-aminoethyl) metacrylamid hydrochlorideas functional monomer, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as crosslinker, 2,2'-azobis (2'4-dimethyl valeronitril) as initiator and acetonitrile as porogen. Non-imprinted polymer (NIP) have been also synthesized for reference purposes. UV-vis spectroscopy has been used to predict the template to functional monomer ratio which indicates the formation of 2:1 complexes between monomer and curcumin and the association constants (K11 = 2529 µM and K12 = 1960.75 µM in acetonitrile). The capacity and imprinting factor have been evaluated as stationary phases in high-pressure liquid chromatography to CUR and BDMC. The binding properties and the homogeneity of the binding sites of the different polymers have been studied by Freundlich isotherm modeling and weight average affinity and number of binding sites. One of the foremost applications of molecular imprinting has been in molecularly imprinted solid phase extraction and it has the ability to separate and preconcentrate between closely related compounds in curcuminoids. The material polymer functionalized on SPE have been developed by ion- imprinted polymer. The ionpolymer with zircon ion as imprint ions were synthesized via bulk polymerization methods by forming binary complex Zr-Xylenol orange in 2-methoxy ethanol and copolymerizing in the presence of styrene as a monomer functional, divinyl benzene as a monomer cross-linker, and peroxide as an initiator. The zircon-imprinted polymer produced the porous polymer. It was indicated that zircon ion imprints were released under conditioning. The polymer particles both prior to and after leaching have been characterized by IR, SEM-EDS, TEM, and pore size. Incorporation of network polymer using divinyl benzene as the cross-linker were performances tested on zircon ion extraction, and the optimum of the mole ratio of styrene/DVB was observed about 1. The decrease of percent extraction of zircon ion when the mole ration of styrene/divinyl benzene < 1, due to the pores as binding sites of polymers were covered, and it was evidenced by the decrease in total pore volume. A molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) for atrazine was successfully prepared. Atrazine molecules as templates were incorporated into the pre-polymerization solution containing a functional monomer (methacrylic acid), a cross-linker (ethylene glycol dimethacrylate), and an initiator (benzoyl peroxide). The placement of a tube containing the pre-polymerization solution into a freezer was done to replace nitrogen pouring into the pre-polymerization solution. The sensing characteristic of the obtained MIP was examined and it was found that the amount of atrazine bound to the cavities in the MIP increases with increasing the initial concentration of atrazine. From Scatchard plots, it was found that the equilibrium dissociation constant KD and the apparent maximum number of binding sites Bmax, which are written as (KD, Bmax), are (6.4 μM, 13.41 mmol/g) and (6.5 μM, 4.55 mmol/g) for the 10 and 30 mg of MIP, respectively. A molecularly imprinted poly-metharylic acid (PMAA), polymerizing on the surface of multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT), was synthesized. The MWCNT was modified by a layer of carboxylic acid and reacted with EDC and NHS to activate the carboxylic acid, which was prepared for the purpose of bonding allyl amine and getting an unsaturated side chain ([Single_Bond]C==C). The resultant structure is abbreviated as MWCNTs-CH==CH2. It is well known that the vinyl group side chain provides good attachment between the MWCNTs and the molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP). The MIP based on PMAA was polymerized on the surface of MWCNTs-CH==CH2 with the addition of uric acid (UA). The non-imprinted polymer (NIP) was polymerized without adding UA. The adsorbed amount of UA approached the equilibrium value upon 60 min adsorption. The adsorption isotherm was obtained by immersing 10 mg of MIP or NIP in 5 mL aqueous solution containing different concentrations of UA. The adsorbed amounts were measured via a UV-Vis spectrometer at a wavelength of 292 nm. To clarify the relationship between material properties and replication properties in thermal nano-imprinting, two different kinds of polycarbonate (PC) sheets were imprinted at various conditions. In the imprinting process, we controlled imprinting temperature, pressure, holding time and other factors. After imprinting we examined surface replication by a confocal laser scanning microscopy and SEM. The height of nano-structure was affected by the imprint conditions. The height was improved at high imprint pressure and high imprint temperature. However the height decreased at the highest imprint pressure. We found that nano-structure was achieved at an optimum imprint condition. Replication property was affected by material modulus especially in lower imprinting temperature. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
