Due to the increase in extensive disasters worldwide, stakeholders usually initiate reconstruction plans to control the effects of these disasters on the community and the environment; nevertheless, some difficulties would occur during the implementation of reconstruction projects based on capacity and resources. Post-disaster reconstruction (PDR) is a multifaceted and chaotic process that poses various challenges and issues. Diverse problems are associated with reconstruction projects, these include low quality, delayed schedule, and cost overrun due to different variables during implementation. Hence, this study reviews the recent findings on the reconstruction of housing projects in the wake of disasters within a developing construction industry. It focuses on the variables that influence PDR, highlighting the major challenges and limitations faced by the industry. Additionally, this study identifies key factors that play a significant character in the reconstruction processes. Industry 4.0 is one of the top trending topics among academics and practitioners all over the globe. The term Industry 4.0 denotes a set of technologies that facilitate the growth of the development of construction, leading to shorter production delivery times, higher production quality, and greater organizational performance. In latest years, there has been a significant increase in the pace of implementation of IR 4.0 techniques by manufacturing and industrial organizations worldwide. Total Quality Management (TQM) is a management technique to obtain a remarkable company performance. There are numerous techniques to implement TQM concepts in any firm. IR 4.0 might be employed as a significant facilitator for TQM, particularly by merging its methodologies with TQM's outstanding practices. IR 4.0 has acquired a lot of interest in the current literature, but there are relatively limited systematic and comprehensive reviews of research that represent the fluid aspect of this issue. The fast-expanding attention to IR 4.0 among scholars and practitioners has prompted a reassessment of current studies and innovation to establish a broader agenda. IR 4.0 is predictable to convert manufacturing and business methods via effective knowledge utilization and efficiency. This study reviews the current application of IR 4.0 various technologies in the construction sector. It also highlights the TQM practices and TQM relationship with IR 4.0. Industrialized Building System (IBS) is a method of construction with concentrated practices consist of techniques, products and a set of linked elements which operate collectively to accomplish objectives. The Industrialized Building System (IBS) has been recognized as a viable method for improving overall construction performance in terms of quality, cost, safety and health, waste reduction, and productivity. Malaysian construction industry considered as one of contributors towards the development of the country. The acceptance level of IBS is still below government expectation. Thus, Malaysian government has been continuously encouraging the industry to use and implement IBS. Conventional systems have several drawbacks, including project delays, low economic efficiency, excess inventory, and poor product quality. When it comes to implementing IBS, construction companies still face a number of obstacles and problems, notably in terms of contractual and procurement concerns, which leads to the low adoption of IBS in Malaysia. There are barriers to the acceptance of IBS technology, focused on awareness of historical failure and risks connected to IBS practices to provide enhanced performance. Therefore, transformation from the existing conventional building systems to the industrialized building systems (IBS) is needed more than ever. Flexibility of IBS in Malaysia's construction industry is very low due to numerous shortcomings and obstacles. Due to its environmental, economic, and social benefits, IBS could play a significant role in the Malaysian construction industry in the future. This paper concentrates on the potential role of IBS to sustainable construction practices in Malaysia. It also highlights the awareness, barriers, advantages, and disadvantages of IBS in construction sector.
