Abstract

A study was conducted, with the sulfation of a manganese dioxide catalyst in the oxidation of methanethiol, to understand the behavior of manganese dioxide. The result shows that at high temperature, manganese dioxide is strongly reduced and is converted to a moderately active manganese sulfate phase while the reaction proceeds.
