Research has been conducted on the ECTO-NOX proteins. The hypothesis that these proteins can be ultradian time keepers of the biological clock has been investigated and the details are reported.

Abstract

Results demonstrate that the tumor-associated NADH oxidase exhibits oscillating patterns of NADH oxidation and protein disulfide-thiol intercahnge. The enzyme activity is totally inhibited by capsaicin and antitumor sulfonylurea LY181984, suggesting that the enzyme is a tumor-associated NADH oxidase or tNOX.

Abstract

The cloning, expression and characterization of a human candidate constitutive ENOX protein is described. Concentrated solutions of the purified candidate ENOX1 protein has irreversibly formed insoluble aggregates, which is devoid of enzymatic activity, resembling amyloid.
