Reducing costs and improving performance have always been hotspots in the field of catalyst research. In order to control the NO x in the low-temperature flue gas of nonpower industries, this paper studies the denitration performance of the ultrasonication-assisted preparation of Mn-based blast furnace slag selective catalytic reduction (SCR) low-temperature denitration catalysts. The catalyst was characterized by FT-IR, XRD, and SEM. The study found that ultrasound assistance can make the active components on the catalyst surface more uniformly dispersed and improve the catalytic activity of the catalyst. Under conditions of 80 W ultrasonic power and 20 min ultrasonic time, the denitration performance of the Mn-based blast furnace slag catalyst is optimal, and the NO removal rate is 2.5 times that of the unsonicated catalyst. This work clarified the mechanism of the effect of ultrasonic assistance on the Mn-based blast furnace slag catalyst and at the same time realized the utilization of solid waste resources and air pollution control.

[Image: see text] ERK1/2 kinase is a key downstream node of the RAS-RAF-MEK-ERK signaling pathway. A highly potent and selective ERK1/2 inhibitor is a promising option for cancer treatment that will provide a potential solution for overcoming drug resistance. Herein we designed and synthesized a novel scaffold featuring a pyrrole-fused urea template. The lead compound, SHR2415, was shown to be a highly potent ERK1/2 inhibitor that exhibited high cell potency based on the Colo205 assay. In addition, SHR2415 displayed favorable PK profiles across species as well as robust in vivo efficacy in a mouse Colo205 xenograft model.

This study aimed to reveal the interaction between self-assembled multilayers and dye molecules in the environment, which is closely related to the multilayers' stable performance and service life. In this work, the pH-responsive poly (N-isopropylacrylamide-co-2-(dimethylamino) ethyl methacrylate) microgels were prepared by free-radical copolymerization and self-assembled with sodium alginate (SA) into multilayers by the layer-by-layer deposition method. Quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) results confirmed the construction of multilayers and the absorbed mass, resulting in a decrease in the frequency shift of the QCM sensor and the deposition of microgel particles on its surface. The interaction between the self-assembled SA/microgel multilayers and anionic dyes in the aqueous solution was further investigated by QCM, and it was found that the electrostatic attraction between dyes and microgels deposited on the QCM sensor surface was much larger than that of the microgels with SA in multilayers, leading to the release of the microgels from the self-assembled structure and a mass loss ratio of 27.6%. AFM observation of the multilayer morphology exposed to dyes showed that 29% of the microgels was peeled off, and the corresponding microgel imprints were generated on the surface. In contrast, the shape and size of the remaining self-assembled microgel particles did not change.

Diacetoxy-stearoyloxy-titanium-modified graphene oxide (Titanate-GO) was successfully prepared using titanium tetraisopropanolate, stearic acid, acetic acid, and graphene oxide (GO). The morphology and structure of the as-prepared materials were tested by FT-IR, Raman, TG/DSC, SEM, and TEM instruments. The results indicate that long alkyl titanium chains have been grafted on the surface of a GO sheet, which guaranteed the dispersibility of Titanate-GO in PAO10 base oil. Then, the lubrication properties of Titanate-GO as a lubricating additive in PAO10 base oil were evaluated on a four-ball machine. The results show that the average coefficient of friction and wear scar diameter were reduced by 49.5 and 28.2%, respectively, compared with bare PAO10 base oil. Finally, the lubrication mechanism was discussed based on the Raman analysis, which was carried out on the worn surface of the steel ball.

Mid-latitude atmospheric elemental mercury (Hg) emissions undergo extensive oxidation to reactive Hg (RM) compounds during Arctic polar sunrise, resulting in enhanced atmospheric deposition that impacts Arctic marine wildlife and humans. It has been difficult to estimate RM dry deposition, because RM concentrations, compounds, and their deposition velocities are ill-defined. Here, we investigate RM concentrations sampled with membrane-based methods and find these to exceed denuder-based RM detection by 5 times at the Zeppelin Observatory on Svalbard (March 26–July 24, 2019). Measured dry deposition of gaseous oxidized Hg was about half of the modeled RM deposition, demonstrating that particulate-bound Hg was an important component of dry deposition. Using thermal membrane desorption, RM chemistry was found to be dominated by Hg–Cl/Br (51%) and Hg–N (45%) compounds. Back-trajectory analysis indicated that Hg–Br/Cl compounds were predominantly advected from within the marine boundary layer (sea ice exposure), while Hg–N originated from the free troposphere. Weekly average RM compound-specific dry deposition velocities ranged from 0.12 to 0.49 cm s–1, with a net RM dry deposition of 1.9 μg m–2 (1.5–2.5 μg m–2; 95% confidence interval) that exceeds the mean annual Hg wet deposition flux in Svalbard. [Image: see text] PKG1α is a central node in cGMP signaling. Current therapeutics that look to activate this pathway rely on elevation of cGMP levels and subsequent activation of PKG1α. Direct activation of PKG1α could potentially drive additional efficacy without associated side effects of blanket cGMP elevation. We undertook a high-throughput screen to identify novel activators. After triaging through numerous false positive hits, attributed to compound mediated oxidation and activation of PKG1α, a piperidine series of compounds was validated. The hit 1 was a weak activator with EC(50) = 47 μM. The activity could be improved to single digit micromolar, as seen in compounds 21 and 25 (7.0 and 3.7 μM, respectively). Several compounds were tested in a pVASP cell-based assay, and for compounds with moderate permeability, good agreement was observed between the biochemical and functional assays. These compounds will function as efficient tools to further interrogate PKG1α biology.

Developing visible-light-regulated controlled/living radical polymerization techniques for the synthesis of polymers with a predictable molecular weight, spatial and temporal control, and well-defined end-group functionality is being pursued by the macromolecular community worldwide. In this study, a new metal-free photoinduced electron transfer-reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (PET-RAFT) polymerization system was developed for controlled macromolecular synthesis in both heterogeneous and homogeneous systems by structural engineering of graphitic carbon nitrides (g-C3N4) to improve the textural, optical, and electronic properties. A heteroatom-mediated synthesis enabled the preparation of g-C3N4 with improved structural properties and increased absorption in the visible light region. Enhanced PET-RAFT polymerization of vinyl monomers with low dispersity (Đ < 1.2), temporal control, and high chain-end fidelity was achieved under mild blue light irradiation (λmax = 465 nm, 3 mW/cm2). Moreover, we demonstrate, for the first time, that the g-C3N4-catalyzed RAFT polymerization could be realized in a homogeneous system after structural evolution of bulk g-C3N4 into soluble nanosheets with enhanced photocatalytic efficiency up to high monomer conversion. This study provides new insights into the structure–performance relationship of g-C3N4 for photoregulated PET-RAFT polymerization under visible light. Moreover, the development of a homogeneous g-C3N4-catalyzed photosynthesis system should broaden the application scope of these fascinating photocatalysts while benefiting synthetic upscaling by continuous flow and/or microfluidic reactors.

Graphene is a single layer of carbon atoms with a large surface-to-volume ratio, providing a large capacity gas molecule adsorption and a strong surface sensitivity. Chemical vapor deposition-grown graphene-based NO2 gas sensors typically have detection limits from 100 parts per billion (ppb) to a few parts per million (ppm), with response times over 1000 s. Numerous methods have been proposed to enhance the NO2 sensing ability of graphenes. Among them, surface decoration with metal particles and metal-oxide particles has demonstrated the potential to enhance the gas-sensing properties. Here, we show that the NO2 sensing of graphene can be also enhanced via decoration with monodisperse polymer beads. In dark conditions, the detection limit is improved from 1000 to 45 ppb after the application of polystyrene (PS) beads. With laser illumination, a detection limit of 0.5 ppb is determined. The enhanced gas sensing is due to surface plasmon polaritons excited by interference and charge transfer between the PS beads. This method opens an interesting route for the application of graphene in gas sensing.
