Abstract

The effect of hydrostatic pressure on the structure of horse apomyoglobin in natural state or in acidic compact form was studied. The intrinsic tryptophanyl emission and that of the extrinsic probe 1-anilino-8-naphthalenesulfonate (ANS) bound to apomyoglobin at neutral pH and at highly-acidic high-salt solutions, was investigated. The heme binding region was disarranged resulting into the dissociation of ANS but the N-terminal region remained undisturbed.

Abstract

The effects of the disaccharide, trehalose on the inhibition activities and fibrillization of W7FW14F apomyoglobin and insulin are studied. The results show that trehalose act during the fibrillization process in different ways depending on the protein model taken under consideration.
