Abstract

The chemical-induced post-translational modifications (PTMs) on the protein resulting from reaction with 1,4-benzoquinone (BQ) and 2-(N-acetylcystein-S-yl)benzoquinone (NAC-BQ) is characterized by employing cytochrome c as a model protein. The findings confirm that electrophile-protein adducts produce structural alterations that influence biological function.
