A Zr and polyethylene glycol 800 [PEG(800)] modifiedNi–B[Ni–Zr–B–PEG(800)] amorphous alloy catalyst showedexcellent catalytic performance, comparable to noble metal catalysts,in the chemoselective hydrogenation of benzoic acid to cyclohexanecarboxylic acid. The synergistic effect between Zr and PEG(800) issuggested to decrease significantly the agglomeration of the activeNi species, causing the Ni–Zr–B–PEG(800) to havea larger BET area, smaller particle size, and the greatest numberof Ni active centers, accounting for its high activity in water. Thesolvent effect on the selectivity was studied in detail. The highpolarity of the water favors the orientation of carboxyl group towardthe solvent, resulting in the selective hydrogenation of the aromaticring, thus leading to a high selectivity for production of cyclohexanecarboxylic acid compared to that occurring in the low polarity cyclohexane. This paper describes the fabrication of covalent triazine framework nanosheet-encapsulated Ag nanoparticles (Ag 0 @CTFN) via a simple combination of the ultrasonic exfoliation and solution infiltration method. The as-prepared Ag 0 @CTFN displays an order layered-sheet structure with abundant micropores and mesopores, whereas ultrafine Ag nanoparticles are confined and stabilized in their interlayers through the interaction between N sites of triazine units and Ag nanoparticles. Considering that the Ag 0 @CTFN possesses the merits of high nitrogen, low density, and abundant basic sites, it was thus believed to have enough abilities to adsorb and activate CO 2 in the CO 2 conversion and catalysis. Importantly, the Ag 0 @CTFN, as a heterogeneous catalyst, showed highly catalytic activity in the carboxylation of various alkynes with CO 2 at ambient pressure and low temperature. This catalyst also exhibited good functional group tolerance and excellent stability without any significant loss of its activity after six recycles. This work not only achieves valuable and novel composite material but also provides the first application of covalent triazine framework nanosheets in chemical conversion of CO 2 , opening a new field in preparing recyclable heterogeneous catalysts to accelerate the utilization of CO 2 .
