The article introduces the ceramic art of Korean artist Sangho Shin. His humble beginnings as a student at Sukwangi, Yichon and Hakdong, Ryojoo, Korea, influenced his later career as he had access to only classical earthenware kilns rather than more modern electric and gas kilns. After a brief stay in the U.S. as a professor in Connecticut, critics feared that his sense of individuality may have been lost. However, his critics were silenced by several exhibitions of his most celebrated works involving Bunchung ware. The artist's highly experimental use of this ancient art has brought him distinction and recognition.
