The article reports on the research conducted on the nitrogen fixation in the boreal forest in the U.S. It reveals that feedback mechanisms taken from the ecosystem are important because it regulate the fundamental ecosystem processes and these are integral to ones ability to model and predict long-term outcome in natural and disturbed environments. Researchers discovered the presence of biological nitrogen fixation in terrestrial ecosystem. It is a process of great ecological importance which remains a poorly understood scheme. Discussed are the details of the issue.
