The article discusses the application of complexity theory and financial regulations in monitoring and managing the financial systems. It refers to a study which shows that standard analysis using a homogenous network model could lead to late detection of the 2008 crisis. It notes that generic empirical quantitative indicators of resilience may be used across complex systems to detect tipping points.
