The Amazon's Geoarcheology Project (CNPq-UFOPA) has carried out an ethnopedological study within quilombola communities living on the Trombetas River in the municipality of Oriximiná (PA). Surveys found out twelve pre-colonial archaeological sites have been identified so far, with the excavation of the Faissal site, in the Juquirizinho community, in which a large amount of ceramic material was obtained. The region of Trombetas/Nhamundá has been a target of interest and archaeological research since the 19th century to the present day due to the occurrence of stone idols, muiraquitãs, extensive sites with black earth and ancient indigenous pottery richly decorated. In this article, the results of the collected ceramics and their implications for the regional understanding of occupation will be presented through a comparative analysis (synchronic and diachronic), and their implications for the territorial distribution of past groups past to the north of the State of Pará.
