Objective: To analyze the clinical effect of Fu's subcutaneous needling (FSN) therapy on treating Knee Osteoarthritis. Methods: The VAS and WOMAC scores were evaluated and compared from 30 patients with knee osteoarthritis before and after FSN therapy. Results: After the first treatment, the patients' VAS scores declined sharply with a marked efficiency of 100%. One-month-following showed that 1 case was cured, 27 cases were effectively improved, among which 67% patients were remarkably effective. 2 cases were ineffective and had recurrence, the total effective rate was 93%. Conclusion: FSN therapy was a safe and effective clinical treatment for knee Osteoarthritis. It worked fast and had immediate beneficial effect. Objective: To compare the efficacy of acupoint catgut embedding on patients with different degrees of spleen deficiency and dampness obstruction type obesity before and after treatment. Methods: Patients who met the inclusion criteria were divided into 30 cases in the mild obesity group and 30 cases in the moderate obesity group. Both groups were treated with the acupoint catgut embedding method once a week for 4 weeks and two consecutive courses of treatment. The changes in body weight, body mass index, waist circumference and hip circumference of the two groups were compared by the method of self-control before and after treatment. Results: (1) After the second course of treatment, the total effective rate of mild obesity group was 86.67%, and the total effective rate of moderate obesity group was 90.00%. There was a significant difference compared with that before treatment (P < 0.05). (2) After treatment, the body weight, body mass index, waist circumference and hip circumference of patients in both groups were lower than before treatment (P < 0.05). Conclusion: acupoint catgut embedding is a safe, effective and economical solution for the treatment of simple obesity due to spleen deficiency and dampness, which can be promoted clinically for its simplicity, time saving, long lasting effect and less rebound. Objective: To observe the curative effect of acupuncture combining with double moxibustion on yŏng quán (KI 1) treating 40 cases of insomnia of menopausal syndrome. Methods: The research selected 80 cases of insomnia of menopausal syndrome patients treated in this hospital. All of the patients should randomly divide into acupuncture plus moxibustion group and routine acupuncture group with 40 cases in each group. Patients in the routine acupuncture group should give routine acupuncture treatment with selecting guān yuán (RN 4), bilateral z gōng (EX-CA 1), bilateral zú sān l (ST 36), bilateral sān yīn jiāo (SP 6), băi huì (DU 20), ān mián (belonging to the experienced acupoint, locating in the midpoint of line between yì fēng (SJ 17) and fēng chí (GB 20)), and bilateral yŏng quán (KI 1). It should give manipulation method with even supplementation and drainage. It should retain needles for 30 min after there was sensation of qi arrival. The acupuncture treatment should give 3 times a week, and consecutive 8 weeks in all. Patients in the acupuncture plus moxibustion group should add moxibustion therapy based on the acupuncture treatment of routine acupuncture group. The moxibustion therapy should select bilateral yŏng quán (KI 1). It should give the moxibustion therapy with two moxa sticks together for double moxibustion. Each time of treatment should sustain for 10 min. The treatment should give twice a week, and consecutive 8 weeks in all. Results: After the treatment, total effective rate of the routine acupuncture group was 90.0% (36/40), and the acupuncture plus moxibustion group was 97.5% (39/40). Comparison of the total effective rate between two groups indicated that the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). After the treatment, the modified Kupperman score and score of Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) of two groups compared with that before the treatment, and the result indicated that the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Moreover, comparison of the scores mentioned above between two groups after the treatment indicated that the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Both acupuncture and acupuncture combining with double moxibustion on yŏng quán (KI 1) could improve the symptoms of patients with insomnia of menopausal syndrome. Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of modified long snake moxibustion on rheumatoid arthritis. Methods: 60 patients with rheumatoid arthritis were randomly divided into modified long snake moxibustion group and routine drug group. The modified long snake moxibustion group was treated with long snake moxibustion, and the ginger separated moxibustion was performed at the Dazhui (GV 14) to Yaoshu (GV 2) and the first lateral line of the bladder meridian. The patients in the routine drug group were given methotrexate tablets. After treatment, the integral of TCM syndromes and signs of rheumatoid arthritis were used as the evaluation index of curative effect, and the clinical curative effect was evaluated by the changes of various scores and indexes in the two groups. Results: The total effective rate was 93.3% in modified snake moxibustion group and 76.7% in conventional drug group. There was significant difference between the two groups (P < 0.05). The scores of main syndrome, secondary syndrome and physical signs decreased in the two groups (P < 0.01 or P < 0.05). There were significant differences on the scores of joint fever, cold and aggravation in rainy days between the two groups (P < 0.05). Objective: To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture in He's three pass method on simple obesity of the spleen deficiency dampness and stomach heat dampness stagnation types. Methods: The random, single blind, controlled study method was used. 84 patients were randomly divided into two groups, 44 cases in the three pass method group and 40 cases in the acupuncture method group. Treatment was administered once a day, 10 days as 1 course, for 3 courses of treatment. Results: The total efficiency was 81.8% (44 cases) in the three pass method group, of which 14 cases were cured (31.8%) 7 cases (15.9%) were excellent, 15 cases (34.1%) effective, 8 cases (18.2%) invalid. The three pass method group (81.8%) performed better than the acupuncture group (65%). The stomach heat dampness syndrome was significantly less than spleen dampness type in both groups. The clinical curative effect in the spleen dampness type was obviously better than that the stomach heat dampness syndrome in both groups. Conclusion: Weight loss was significantly better when using He's three pass method compared to acupuncture alone. Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of periodic acupuncture on infertility caused by follicular dysplasia. Method: 110 cases of infertility outpatients with follicular dysplasia being treated at Zhanjiang Health School of Guangdong Province, China were selected. The number table method was used for random grouping into a control and an observation group, with 55 cases in each group. Patients in the control group were given only conventional Western Medicine treatment, and the observation group received acupuncture according to Traditional Chinese Medicine. The follicular development and the improvement of luteal function were compared between the two groups. Results: Before treatment, there were no significant differences in mean follicular diameter between the two groups. After three months of treatment, the size and distribution of follicles in each of the two groups were significantly improved. The average diameter of the observation group was 17.42 ± 3.16 mm, which was significantly larger than that of the control group 15.60 ± 3.91 mm (P < 0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference between the two groups in vivo levels of progesterone and estradiol. After three months of treatment, the improvement of the two items in the observation group was significantly higher than in the control group (P < 0.01). The observation group had no adverse reactions. In the control group, there were 2 cases of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, 1 case of gastrointestinal disease; and, the incidence of complications was 6%. There was no significant difference between the two groups. Conclusion: Acupuncture can improve the symptoms of follicular dysplasia and increase the pregnancy rate, with fewer side effects and a better curative effect. Objective: To observe the clinical effects of five-line acupuncture in the treatment of depression. Method: 100 cases of outpatient depression patients were randomly divided into either the acupuncture group or the medication group; 50 patients in each group. The acupuncture group was treated with five-line acupuncture and the medication group was prescribed St. John's grass extract tablet (lkoptimal Thai) or Venlafaxine Hydrochloride Zyban (Po LeXin). Hamilton Depression scores, before and after treatment, were compared to evaluate the therapeutic effects. Results: after two treatment courses, both the comparisons of HAMD score and the clinical effect between the two groups showed a significant difference (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The curative effect of five-line acupuncture in the treatment of depression was found to be superior to standard treatment with western medicine; and was validated as an effective treatment for depression. Objective: To investigate the efficacy of electroacupuncture and Chinese tuina to treat insomnia. Methods: An electroacupuncture and Chinese tuina group of 43 patients were treated by electroacupuncture and Chinese tuina and a control group of 27 patients with Eurodin. Results: The total efficacy rate of the electroacupuncture and Chinese tuina group was 88.4%, significantly higher than that of the control group. The clinical cure rate was higher for patients with duration of insomnia less than six months that for those with more than six months in the electroacupuncture and Chinese tuina group. Objective: To investigate the efficacy of the combination of meridian scraping along with pricking and cupping therapy on cervico-shoulder myofascitis. Method: 60 patients were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group. The treatment group was treated by combination of meridian scraping and pricking and cupping therapy while the control group by conventional acupuncture. The therapeutic effect was evaluated by visual analog pain scale (VAS) and soft tissue injury symptom scale before and after treatment. Result: Compared with that before treatment, the differences in visual analog pain score and soft tissue injury symptom grading scale scores were statistically significant in both groups after treatment (P < 0.01), indicating the two treatment methods can reduce pain and improve soft tissue injury symptoms. Objective: to observe the clinical curative effects of the bilateral alternating point penetration method versus conventional acupuncture on patients with ischemic stroke hemiplegia. Methods: 50 patients were randomized into the bilateral alternating point penetration method group (treatment group, n = 25) and the routine acupuncture group (control group, n = 25). Both groups had evaluation of clinical signs and symptoms before and after 4 courses of treatment. Results: reduction rate of symptoms and signs scores after treatment in the treatment group and control group was 13.760 ± 7.061 and 7.061 ± 6.947, respectively, with the treatment group showing a more significant decrease (P < 0.05); the total effective and markedly curative rates were 92 and 76%, and 80 and 36% in the treatment and control group, respectively, among which the markedly effective rate of the two groups displayed significant difference (P < 0.05). Objective: To investigate the therapeutic effect of acupuncture and moxibustion in the treatment of herpes zoster. Methods: 100 patients with herpes zoster were selected from October 2012 to October 2013. They were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group with 50 cases in each. Patients in the control group were treated with Western medicine treatment, and the observation group were given acupuncture and moxibustion. We compared the curative effect of both groups. Results: The treatment effective rate of the observation group was 95%; the treatment effective rate of the control group was 79%, the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P < 0.05). The time from the end of new blister formation to scabbing in the observation group was shorter than those in the control group. In addition, the analgesic effect of acupuncture and moxibustion therapy was better. Conclusion: In clinic, acupuncture and moxibustion can be used in the treatment of herpes zoster with less adverse reaction, simple operation, good analgesic effect, and it can effectively shorten the herpes zoster treatment time. Objective: to observe the curative effect of moxibustion treatment on irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and its analgesic effect. Methods: 227 patients with irritable bowel syndrome were randomly divided into the mild moxibustion group and medicinal moxibustion group and were evaluated for curative effects in each regimen. Results: the total effective rate was 89.10 and 88.40% in the mild moxibustion group and medicinal moxibustion group, respectively, with no significant difference between two groups (P > 0.05).
