Although various works had been dealt with Roman money circulation of the Great Hungarian Plain some phenomena remained undiscovered for the research. This paper deals with republican and early imperial mints came to light in the territory of Szolnok County. The Jászdózsa hoard with its 114 pieces of Roman republican and early Roman period denars from P. Sulla (151 B.C.) to Emperor Nero (AD 64–68) belongs here. The Roman coins had appeared in large numbers only since the first century AD in the Great Hungarian Plain. The republican coins are very rarely represented, though they are very common in Transylvania. From the Zagyva mouth area to the river Tisza, and from the territory of the Jászság some hoards and scattering finds are known. It is difficult to interpret the circulation of these coins due to the lack of written sources and archaeological finds. Because of the Aurei the role of Roman politics should also be taken into consideration. Which gentes had lived in the territory of the Jászság and what role they had played in the relationship system of the Carpathian Basin we have rarely any information about. The hoard of Jászdózsa was probably hidden at about the Year of the Four Emperors (AD 69) or shortly thereafter. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper presents the phytosociological description of a drained swamp community, Veratro albi-Fraxinetum angustifoliae, so far found only in the Nyírség at Nyírábrány "Kis-kőrises", "Mogyorósi-erdő"; Vámospércs "Jónásrész-Kőrises"; and Vámospércs "Jónásrész-Buzita". The habitat of the community is transitional between that of alder swamps (Fraxino pannonicae-Alnetum glutinosae), and hardwood riparian forests (Fraxino pannonicae-Ulmetum). The community is characterised by high proportions of character species of Alnion glutinosae and Molinion coerulei as well as Quercetea pubescentis-petraeae s. l. whereas character species of the order Fagetalia are almost completely absent. It hosts several rare, often threatened species, such as Angelica palustris, Ophioglossum vulgatum, Trollius europaeus and Veratrum album. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Inventory of Estate of a Tanner in the Town of Csongrád. Several inventories of estate were made and thus remained on the Great Plain, in Upper Hungary, and in Transdanubia in different periods of the 18th–20th centuries. In the town of Csongrád, in the middle of the Great Plain, a large number of inventories were made between 1854 and 1860. A detailed inventory of estate about the properties and workshop of János Markseid, tanner of German origin, remained from 1855, when be died at the age 73. An inventory made in 1828 and the tanner's will from 1850 specify the origin and growth of his properties. The article analyses the inventory containing the house, the workshop, objects of the wine-cellar, furniture, and houseware displaying bourgeois features as well. The tools and raw materials of the aluminous and tannic currying included in the inventory illustrate the simultaneous presence of these two ways of currying in the given period of the 19th century. The supplements, extracts from inventories may help in analysing the data. In the person of János Markseid the author can introduce a craftsman who arrived in the town of Csongrád with an amount of capital and became indurate with a second generation through one of his sons who was also a tanner. On the basis of 20th century examples as well, the author can assume that he - and also other wandering craftsmen living in similar circumstances - undertook and played a culture-mediatory role between a countrytown of the Great Plain and several parts of the Carpathian Basin.
