- Abstract
This article aims to interpret the relationship between gender roles and the spatiality of / on patron saints' days in two rural communities of Imbituva-PR. To cast a glance to the patron party production and gender relations from the representations of the work to be done by men and women, the text sets a qualitative sampling of gender representations spatialized in rural communities. Fieldworks are used as research techniques, involving the observation of events and interaction with the participants. The inter-relationship between the observations of phenomena and moments that make up the celebrations, interviews with organizers of events and connections to the literature addressing the issue of social gender relations guided one objectification process of subjectivity of those who organize the parties. In the case studies that support this article, practices that guide the gender representations, glimpsed by the motto of spatiality (spatial order) refer to a shared qualitative-normative set and takes place by means of a spatial differentiation. When considering gender as a representation, the research shows that during the production of the patron saints' days, the social gender roles are performed by spatial dynamics that distinguish levels of male and female performances.
