A previously undescribed phenolic glycoside (manglycoside A, 1), as well as 16 identified compounds (2-17), were isolated from the leaves and twigs of the 'vulnerable' plant Magnolia decidua (Magnoliaceae). Comprehensive spectroscopic investigation and chemical transformations revealed the structure of the previously unknown compound 1. Among the isolates, honokiol (6) and liriodenine (14) were discovered to exhibit antiinflammatory activities in LPS-induced RAW 264.7 cells via reducing nitric oxide (NO) formation, with IC50 values of 4.3 and 17.3 µM, correspondingly.
