Self equivalences of classifying spaces of p -local compact groups are well understood by means of the algebraic structure that gives rise to them, but explicit descriptions are lacking. In this paper we use Robinson's construction of an amalgam G , realising a given fusion system, to produce a split epimorphism from the outer automorphism group of G to the group of homotopy classes of self homotopy equivalences of the classifying space of the corresponding p -local compact group. People often consider how ready they feel for a committed romantic relationship before initiating one. Although research has only begun to identify the antecedents of commitment readiness, several theoretical perspectives suggest that it should be shaped by the perceived frequency of available partners. We conducted five studies (one correlational, four experimental) that tested this idea among single people. A Pilot Study assessed participants' perceptions of available romantic partners and their commitment readiness. In the subsequent four experiments, participants read articles (Studies 1a and 1b) or created dating profiles and were presented with false feedback (Studies 2 and 3) that influenced perceptions of available partners and reported their commitment readiness. Results suggested that people were less ready to commit to a romantic relationship to the extent that they perceived they had many partners available to them. Allopolyploids often experience subgenome dominance, with one subgenome showing higher levels of gene expression and greater gene retention. Here, we address the functionality of both subgenomes of allotetraploid common carp (Cyprinus carpio) by analysing a functional network of interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs) crucial in anti-viral immune defence. As an indicator of subgenome dominance we investigated retainment of a core set of ohnologous ISGs. To facilitate our functional genomic analysis a high quality genome was assembled (WagV4.0). Transcriptome data from an in vitro experiment mimicking a viral infection was used to infer ISG expression. Transcriptome analysis confirmed induction of 88 ISG ohnologs on both subgenomes. In both control and infected states, average expression of ISG ohnologs was comparable between the two subgenomes. Also, the highest expressing and most inducible gene copies of an ohnolog pair could be derived from either subgenome.
