The growing complexity of the competitive context imposes on organizations the necessary to make effective decisions in a short time. Consequently, the organization must make decisions on an ever-increasing volume of data and information to increase their competitive advantage. For this reason, the decision-making process must be supported by new tools capable of facilitating and time reduction the knowledge transfer. The public administrations are a particular and very emblematic case. Indeed, public administrations are characterized as bureaucratic organizations with lengthy, often ineffective decision-making processes. The main consequence is a loss of value for the reference community. Hence, improving decision-making in public administrations can have a direct impact on society. On this wise, knowledge visualization by transforming knowledge into different visual tools (e.g., images, tables, graphs, knowledge maps, etc.) can support the decision-making process, speeding up the knowledge transfer process. A growing field of studies is focusing on the knowledge visualization, and on tools to support the decision-making process. The knowledge visualization in complex organizations appears to be a subject that has not yet been fully explored. The objective of this study is to understand the impact that knowledge visualization has on the decision-making process in public administration. In this study the methodological approach implemented has qualitative and exploratory nature. The exploratory nature aims to build the theoretical premises regarding knowledge visualization, the use of knowledge visualization in public administration, and the operational and strategic capacity to support decision- making. The data was collected through the analysis of a case study. This study is part of knowledge management studies, with particular emphasis on knowledge. visualization. The results of this study, based on the observation of a case study, offer theoretical reflections on the impact of knowledge visualization in the decision-making processes of public administration. The study aims to investigate how urban regeneration projects contribute to achieving sustainable development through an intellectual capital (IC) perspective for driving growth within urban communities and improving quality of life. Literature has shown that urban regeneration projects help support urban change. The IC helps drive sustainable development and competitiveness of regions, cities and communities. Urban regeneration projects contribute to better quality of life and drive social and economic renewal of urban communities. This exploratory study proposes a research framework addressed to join urban regeneration projects with IC view on cities and urban communities. This paper can contribute to the extant literature focused on the relationship between urban regeneration processes and the role of intellectual capital as driver of sustainable development. This qualitative study, using a multiple case study methodology, provides a comparative analysis of two urban regeneration projects that help the redevelopment of urban environments and support human and social capital within communities. The findings show that urban regeneration projects significantly contribute to revitalising urban spaces, supporting the components of IC that drive social and economic growth of communities. In recent years, the importance of exploiting and managing information and knowledge as a strategic resource for organisational growth and competitiveness has been recognised. Knowledge Visualisation (KV) is a very young research area that focuses on the collaborative use of interactive graphics to create, integrate and apply knowledge. Knowledge visualization is defined as the use of visual representations to enhance the creation and transfer of knowledge between at least two people. Knowledge Visualization uses graphic means to build and transmit complex knowledge. In the literature, few studies focus on KV, especially in complex organisations in the emergency phase. Organisations have had to face the pandemic situation that is affecting the whole world, but Knowledge Visualisation could be seen as a support tool that the decision-maker can disseminate to manage the emergency. In this context, the decision-maker can use Knowledge Visualisation tools (images, maps, diagrams, etc.) to transform raw data and information into accessible forms of representations to extract information. This paper is an exploratory and qualitative study based on single case study on an Italian public complex organisation. This study trying to understand how KV can support complex organisations in the emergency phases. The findings highlight the potential and importance of Knowledge Visualisation, which has been shown by their use of different tools and bodies with functions related to Knowledge Visualisation. Public organizations have based knowledge transfer processes on documents and archives only, leaving the benefits of other mechanism of knowledge transfer unexplored. In this context, the mentoring tool like a multifaceted and complex role consisting of interventional, training and support activities, can be successfully used in public sector. This tool promotes knowledge transfer through the interaction between mentor and new employee (mentee). The aim of the work is to analyse the relationship that is created between mentor and mentee in complex public organizations. The methodology used is qualitative, we observe the case study of an Italian public organization through the tool of the narrative interview with mentor and mentee. The collected narratives concern the process of introducing the new employee in the public organization and the process of transferring knowledge to them. The study is still at an early stage and the results achieved so far seek to offer a conceptual framework on how mentoring takes place in complex public organizations, focusing mainly on knowledge management. The use of narrative interviews can be useful to detect both the subjective perspective of the interviewees and to highlight the involvement of the various subjects in the process of knowledge transfer. The results obtained so far contribute to developing the academic debate on the characteristics of the mentoring role, the relationships and phases that occur in the mentoring processes and their implications in public organizations. The spin-offs are the result of third academic revolution and the primary means of research exploitation becoming the primary mechanism for knowledge transfer from Universities and other Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to firms. Nowadays the University plays a central role in the process of innovation and supporting the industrial system. On this basis, the paper aims to analyze which knowledge can create spin-off. In particular, the explanatory work after the analysis of the current state of the spin-off in Italy and their main features, it proposes to highlight the relationships between universities' knowledge and knowledge used in the spin-off. The methodology used forthis study is ideally divided into three parts. In the first step, an analysis was made on the literature of knowledge transfer and spin-offs. In the second step, through an empirical analysis that took in consideration no. 1,384 spin-offs, was highlighted the main critical features of the spin-off in Italian Universities and other Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). In the third step, the analysis has pointed out the policies of knowledge transfer that the Italian Universities and HEIs adopted for the creation of spin-offs and the principal results obtained. The main element of originality of this work is to provide one in-depth study of the mechanisms of knowledge transfer from Italian Universities to the context, with particular focus on spin-off way. In particular, the study takes into account all the spin-offs recognized by Italian Universities and compares them with policies of new enterprises' creation. The paper wants to offer the first considerations on the characteristics of the spin-off in Italy, highlighting the relationship between knowledge and spin-offs and what type of knowledge was useful to create spin-offs. The study is to be inserted in the field of research related to the analysis of institutional factors of knowledge transfer and their impact on the relationship between Universities and Industry, by trying to offer the first results and first insights of knowledge transfer policies used by Italian Universities. Many public organizations are employing Information Technology (IT) in Knowledge Management (KM). Inside universities, the use of IT would be an enabler to create and facilitate the development of knowledge; to improve knowledge sharing; to develop Communities of Practice (CoP). In particular, in the IT educational organizations it is a tool to improve the quality of learning. The E-learning is based on digital technologies and spreads through the web, through a variety of teaching methods, as a tool for KM. The websites of some universities allow anyone to follow free lessons, through the Internet. These types of free online courses that are offered by the universities are known as Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). The purpose of the study is to verify how learning through the Internet (E-learning) adopted by the European universities can facilitate the processes of transmission and sharing of knowledge. The research aims to identify the number of European universities that adopt KM based on E-learning practices. This analysis allows detecting data on universities for the region through the study of the websites of the top 100 European universities in a ranking published by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS World University ranking 2015/16). The survey represents the first step of a larger project that aims to analyse how European universities, selected from the QS rankings, prepare the organizational activities to implement the online teaching. From the results of this first phase, it has emerged that the European universities surveyed providing training not only through classroom lectures, but also with a variety of courses that are required by the web (E-learning) also in a free (MOOCs).
