Industrial device commissioning along with the initial distribution of keying material is an important step for the security of industrial plants. An efficient key management system is required in cryptography for both symmetric key or public/private key encryption. Most of the key management system use either pre-installed shared keys or install keys using out-of-band channels. In addition to that, the sensor devices both wired and wireless need to be verified whether it is connected to the correct physical entity since these devices are linked with the physical world. Therefore in industrial plants there is a requirement to automate the trust bootstrapping process, where the devices from upper level in communication network will be aware that the communication device from below level is trusted. In this work, we present a workflow that uses the existing trust mechanism on employees to enable the initial bootstrap of trust in the devices, and also optionally support the commissioning engineer to download the required configuration data in the device as well. The applications of Industrial Wireless Sensor and Actuator Networks (IWSAN) are time-critical and subject to strict requirements in terms of end-to-end delay and reliability of data delivery. A notable shortcoming of the existing wireless industrial communication standards is the existence of overcomplicated routing protocols, whose adequacy for the intended applications is questionable [1]. This paper evaluates the potentials of flooding as a data dissemination technique in IWSANs. The concept of flooding is recycled by introducing minimal modifications to its generic form and compared with a number of existing WSN protocols, in a variety of scenarios. The simulation results of all scenarios observed show that our lightweight approach is able to meet stringent performance requirements for networks of considerable sizes. In this paper we describe a method to integrate WirelessHART networks in Distributed Control Systems (DCS)using PROFINET IO. By modeling the WirelessHART network in the Generic Station Description file, that describes a PROFINET IO device, the WirelessHART related configuration can be distributed from the central engineering stations. In this way, both process controller configuration and WirelessHART network configuration is engineered and maintained from a central location. Thus the end-user do not need any additional tool-specific training, as the existing tools are used to engineer the WirelessHART networks. We base the method of integration on the keywords simple deployment and maintenance, and flexible topology. A proof-of-concept implementation of the proposed method shows that it is possible to download WirelessHART configuration both to the WirelessHART network managers, as well as the WirelessHART sensors. By integrating WirelessHART in this way, maintenance is greatly simplified as the actual configuration will be downloaded automatically by the DCS when faulty field devices are replaced.
