This article adopts literature analysis and case study methods to explore the application and integration of Zen philosophy in modern minimalist art design, aiming to reveal the emotional resonance and aesthetic experience of Zen philosophy integrated into minimalist design for viewers. This article deeply analyzes the core concept of "emptiness" in Zen philosophy, explores its inherent connection with minimalist design principles, and compares and analyzes contemporary classic design works, revealing the unique role of Zen philosophy in enhancing the spiritual connotation and aesthetic value of design works. The research results indicate that integrating Zen philosophy into minimalist design endows works with deeper cultural and spiritual connotations and enhances viewers' emotional resonance and aesthetic experience. This integration provides new perspectives and methods for modern design practice, which helps promote the diversified development and innovation of the design field.

E‐commerce art design major is a new major that has developed rapidly in recent years. In the era of big data, teaching methods, teaching methods and teaching contents have changed accordingly. At the same time, with the popularization and application of big data, the demand direction of e‐commerce art design professional society for talents has also changed. Therewith, the model of teaching is also undergoing a transformation. The curriculum system of the e‐commerce art design major needs to integrate the thinking in data in response to the social demand. Therefore, starting with the concept and connotation of thinking in data, status analysis of the art design major of application‐oriented universities, and analysis of the application of the thinking in data in the education of the e‐commerce art design major, this paper explores how to apply the thinking in data in the teaching of the e‐commerce art design major of application‐oriented universities and optimize the talent training in this major, so as to provide new ideas for the development in the e‐commerce art design major. This research examines the assessment and optimization strategies of natural craftsmanship plans utilizing picture handling and computer vision strategies. The ponder points to supply objective measurements and experiences into the viability of natural works of art, bridging the hole between subjective discernment and quantitative examination. STEAM education is an educational approach of interdisciplinary teaching of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. STEAM education, however, is often viewed as only including art elements into STEM teaching. Without true integration of the disciplines in STEAM curricula, students rarely are exposed to the connection among disciplines, and self-identify as solely scientists, artists, or technophiles. STEAM curricula also infrequently integrate design, which promotes creativity and innovation. Effective STEAM curriculum and practices are needed to prepare students to face 21st century challenges and work demands. We designed a high school STEAM educational module that integrated plant science, design, and emergent technologies through the creation of 3D models of plants and augmented and virtual reality (AVR) experiences and investigated its impact on students' understanding of the intersection of art and design with science, learning and skills gains, and interests in STEAM subjects and careers. The module used a project-based learning approach that relied on student teamwork and facilitation by educators. In this 3D plant modeling module, students: (1) investigated plants under research at a plant science research center, (2) designed and created 3D models of those plants, (3) learned about the application of 3D modeling in AVR platforms, and (4) disseminated project results. We used qualitative and quantitative research methods both before and after the implementation of the model to assess the impact of the 3D modeling module. Student responses revealed that approximately half of the students had a good understanding of the intersection of art and design with science prior to the implementation of the module, while the other half gained this understanding after completing their projects. Students saw art and design playing a role in science mainly by facilitating communication and further understanding and fostering new ideas. They also reported that science influenced art and design through the artistic creation process. The most common learning gains were in plant science and 3D modeling, with 35% and 20% of the students reporting these themes only after completing their projects, respectively. The skill gains most cited were research, teamwork, and communication skills. Over 25% of the students reported these skill gains only after the completion of their projects. Paired comparisons of survey responses indicated a significant increase in students' interest in science, mathematics, and design subjects after they completed their projects. At the end of the module, 40% of the students were more interested in STEAM careers. Another 13% of the students indicated they already had an interest in STEAM careers before beginning the module. Our findings indicate that our STEAM module effectively integrated science, art, design, and technology, enhancing student literacy in these fields, and providing students with essential 21st century skills. The module led to interdisciplinary learning and development of interest in STEAM subjects and careers. The combination of pedagogical strategies used in our module for active, collaborative, authentic, and meaningful learning exemplifies an effective STEAM curriculum with valuable instructional tools for educators, inspiring new ways of teaching and learning, contributing to the practice and applications in STEAM education. Stimuli responsive optical materials are attractive for many areas, from healthcare to art design. However, creating intricate color‐changing patterns for visual information is still a challenge. This work describes the preparation of mechanochromic structural colored intricate pictures imprinted in cholesteric liquid crystal elastomers by using a chiral isosorbide molecular photoswitch. The photoswitch contains a photoisomerizable cinnamate moiety and was incorporated in a main chain liquid crystal oligomer with photopolymerizable acrylate end groups. After coating, the structural colored film was irradiated with ultraviolet (UV) light in air causing E/Z isomerization of the cinnamate units leading to a redshift of the structural color of the film. A grayscale photomask was used to spatially control the photoisomerization reaction and imprint colorful pictures such as portraits and landscapes, in the cholesteric liquid crystal films with high resolution. Photopolymerization in a nitrogen atmosphere led to a mechanochromic cholesteric liquid crystal elastomer with striking structural colors that blueshift upon strain. The sharp details of the patterns were preserved even under deformation and the system returned to the initial state upon strain removal. The static and dynamic characteristics of the spindle system significantly influence machining accuracy and efficiency. High static and dynamic stiffnesses and thermal stability are required for high-precision and high-efficiency machining. The dynamics of spindle systems are affected by centrifugal forces and thermal expansion in response to spindle rotation. A noncontact electromagnetic loading (EML) system has great potential for measuring spindle characteristics under rotational conditions. This study presents a state-of-the-art design and performance of the EML system, which is an improvement on the system used in previous studies. Detailed experimental design and signal processing are shown for static and dynamic performance measurements, including advanced hardware-in-the-loop simulation of the intermittent milling process using the developed EML system. Electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction (eCO2RR) to value‐added multicarbon (C2+) products offers a promising approach for achieving carbon neutrality and storing intermittent renewable energy. Copper (Cu)‐based electrocatalysts generally play the predominant role in this process. Yet recently, more and more non‐Cu materials have demonstrated the capability to convert CO2 into C2+, which provides impressive production efficiency even exceeding those on Cu, and a wider variety of C2+ compounds not achievable with Cu counterparts. This motivates us to organize the present review to make a timely and tutorial summary of recent progresses on developing non‐Cu based catalysts for CO2‐to‐C2+. We begin by elucidating the reaction pathways for C2+ formation, with an emphasis on the unique C−C coupling mechanisms in non‐Cu electrocatalysts. Subsequently, we summarize the typical C2+‐involved non‐Cu catalysts, including ds‐, d‐ and p‐block metals, as well as metal‐free materials, presenting the state‐of‐the‐art design strategies to enhance C2+ efficiency. The system upgrading to promote C2+ productivity on non‐Cu electrodes covering microbial electrosynthesis, electrolyte engineering, regulation of operational conditions, and synergistic co‐electrolysis, is highlighted as well. Anatomical depiction is a technique whereby the product is decomposed into components that are spatially arranged layer by layer to visually explicate its inner structure. The authors demonstrate that anatomical depiction, compared with nonanatomical depiction, enhances product valuation. This effect occurs because anatomical depiction elicits a "coming together" of the inner components in consumers' minds, thereby evoking a gestalt image of the product—a process labeled "simulated assemblage." The elicitation of simulated assemblage in turn boosts confidence in the product's performance. Two field experiments demonstrate that anatomical depiction leads to greater engagement in online settings such as peer-to-peer selling and social media advertising. Subsequently, seven laboratory and online experiments show when and how anatomical depiction elicits simulated assemblage (Studies 1a–c), test the process underlying the effect of anatomical depiction on product valuation (Studies 2a–b), and delineate two boundary conditions, showing that the positive effect of anatomical (vs. nonanatomical) depiction attenuates for consumers higher (vs. lower) in technology anxiety (Study 3) and when consumers have a hedonic (vs. utilitarian) consumption goal (Study 4). This paper delves into the concept of eco-structure construction, particularly in India's rapidly growing population and urbanisation. It addresses the substantial energy consumption of buildings, which accounts for up to forty per cent of total energy usage, emphasizing the urgency to create sustainable environments. The study explores sustainable building practices, focusing on resource efficiency, waste reduction, and improved living conditions. It discusses the benefits of sustainable architecture, including improved indoor environment quality, water conservation, enhanced health outcomes, and reduced strain on shared resources. Additionally, the paper outlines the scope of environmental sustainability and the components of sustainable and green building design, highlighting the holistic approach required for effective environmental conservation and human well-being. Also, this research advocates for a paradigm shift towards eco-friendly building materials and methods to create a healthier and more sustainable future. Low-carbon and recycled materials: Using recycled aggregates, fly ash, and low-carbon concrete reduces greenhouse emissions and enhances durability in residential buildings. Biodegradable and bio-based materials: Materials like bamboo, hemp Crete, and mycelium offer renewable, biodegradable options with strong insulation properties, suitable for non-load-bearing applications. Energy-efficient insulation: Phase Change Materials (PCMs) and Insulating Concrete Forms (ICFs) provide superior thermal comfort, reducing energy needs for heating and cooling. Locally sourced and earth-based materials: Region-specific materials, like rammed earth and adobe, minimize transport emissions and naturally regulate indoor temperatures. Green roofing and vegetation integration: Green roofs and walls enhance insulation, support biodiversity, and manage stormwater, creating a sustainable urban ecosystem. Lifecycle Assessment (LCA): Lifecycle analysis tools identify low-impact materials, guiding sustainable choices based on overall environmental cost and durability. Innovative materials: Grapheme-enhanced concrete and 3D-printed materials reduce resource use while improving strength, insulation, and waste minimization in residential structures. Major Findings: These findings emphasize a shift toward materials that balance environmental impact with performance in residential construction. Recent literature emphasises the role of exploration, designerly play, creative thinking, and handling of materials in the beginning years of learning. This paper reports findings from a study involving 24 children (aged 4 to 10 years), where the researchers engaged with four-story contexts (tasks) that had embedded problem scenarios. In response to problems presented in the stories, children were invited to express their design ideas through drawings and oral expressions. Analysis of the children's work yielded insights into design thinking and revealed the cognitive strategies children used for addressing different kinds of problem scenarios. Purpose: This study investigates the UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy Network as a global spatial brand and explores the tensions that emerge when this global brand is appropriated locally. Design/methodology/approach: This paper is based on case study research that uses critical discourse analysis to identify the implications of a transferable learning capacity. Findings: This paper identifies three different types of tensions in place brand management that emerge during the local appropriation of global brands: tensions inherent in multi-scalarity, tensions associated with integrating governance and strategy-related tensions. Originality/value: This study advances the theoretical understanding of the spatial complexity inherent in place brand management practices by focusing on the UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy Network as a global brand in a Scandinavian context. Purpose: This paper seeks to establish design quality indicators (DQIs) that can be utilized for assessing the design of community centers, with an emphasis on the technical, functional, and behavioral performance domains. Design/methodology/approach: A comprehensive literature review resulted in identifying 79 DQIs for community centers. A three round Delphi evaluation approach was utilized to rate the importance of the DQIs through their relative importance index (RII) values. The assessment of the DQIs involved a diverse group of stakeholders including facilities managers, architects/engineers (A/Es), community centers' staff, and regular visitors of community centers. Findings: The majority of the established DQIs were considered to be either "Very Important" or "Important". Practical implications: The established DQIs can be utilized to identify best practices in the design of community centers and benchmark the performance of different community centers. Originality/value: The design quality of community centers could significantly impact the community's quality of life and user experience. The development of DQIs provides for enhanced accountability and improved service delivery for the communities they serve. This study explores the development and implementation of a design thinking Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven auto-marking/grading system for practical assessments and accurate feedback aimed at alleviating the workload of lecturers at an Online Distance eLearning (ODeL) institution in South Africa. The study adopts an iterative approach to designing and prototyping the system, ensuring alignment with the unique needs and challenges at an ODeL higher learning institution (HLI). The study outlines a Design thinking framework for developing the AI system, emphasizing empathy with user needs, clear problem definition, ideation, prototyping, testing, and iterative improvements. Integrating such a system promises to enhance operational efficiency, ensure fair and unbiased grading for assessments, and provide students with consistent, timely, personalized feedback. Tapping on theorists such as Michael Foucault and Joseph Schumpeter, this study contributes to the ongoing discourse on innovative solutions for educational challenges in South Africa by employing a design thinking framework and qualitative research methods. It provides insights for developing and implementing AI-driven auto-marking/grading systems in higher education settings. Cognizant of data privacy laws, the study will highlight the essential adherence to ethical guidelines in automated assessment processes and the successful implementation of AI-driven auto-marking/grading systems in ODeL. Additionally, this study aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as Good Health and Wellbeing (SDG 3), Quality Education (SDG 4), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8), Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9).
