The rise of complex high-rise buildings has made building management increasingly challenging, especially the nighttime supervision of university laboratories. Idle occupation increases the risk of accidents and undermines campus sustainability. Effective occupancy detection is essential for optimizing campus building safety and energy efficiency. Environmental sensors for occupancy detection offer limited coverage and are costly, making them unsuitable for campuses. Surveillance cameras, as part of campus infrastructure, provide wide coverage. On this basis, we designed a detection algorithm that uses light brightness to assess nighttime building use. Experimental results showed that the algorithm achieves an average accuracy of 98.67%, enabling large-scale nighttime occupancy detection without the need for installing additional sensors, significantly improving the efficiency of campus building management. In addition, to address the limitations of indoor space representation in geographic information system (GIS) management models, this paper developed a comprehensive 3D GIS model based on a "building–floor–room" hierarchical structure, utilizing oblique photogrammetry and laser scanning technology. This study combined the detection results with real-world 3D data for visualization, providing a new perspective for the 3D spatiotemporal refinement of complex high-rise buildings, and providing a reference framework for the detection and analysis of other types of building environments. In this paper, we aim to document and analyze the long arc of connectivity between China and Latin America. First, using analytical international trade and economic tools, we provide a new economic perspective of the First Globalization–-the Ming and early Qing China's economic and business links with Latin America and Europe. Second, due to U.S. government trade policies toward China in the 1990s, the Second China's Globalization was ushered in with its entry to the World Trade Organization (WTO). During this second phase, China exchanged manufactured goods with minerals and resources from Latin America. Finally, the tough technology and trade stance by the Trump and Biden Administrations prompted China to intensify the third phase of China interaction with Latin America. For the 2020s and beyond, one important pillar of the Third China-Latin America-Europe Globalization is heightened efforts for China to increase its digital-AI, telecommunication and platform business presence and access into the Latin American markets. To enrich our analysis, we will provide Chinese-style digital-AI business and economic models to help illustrate our discussions. Germline-specific genes are usually activated in cancer cells and drive cancer progression; such genes are called cancer-germline or cancer-testis genes. The RNA-binding protein DAZL is predominantly expressed in germ cells and plays a role in gametogenesis as a translational activator or repressor. However, its expression and role in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are unknown. Here, mining of RNA-sequencing data from public resources and immunohistochemical analysis of tissue microarrays showed that DAZL was expressed exclusively in testis among normal human tissues but ectopically expressed in NSCLC tissues. Testis and NSCLC cells expressed the shorter and longer transcript variants of the DAZL gene, respectively. Overexpression of the longer DAZL transcript promoted tumor growth in a mouse xenograft model. Silencing of DAZL suppressed cell proliferation, colony formation, migration, invasion, and cisplatin resistance in vitro and tumor growth in vivo. Quantitative proteomic analysis based on tandem mass tag and Western blot analysis showed that DAZL upregulated the expression of JAK2 and MCM8. RNA-binding protein immunoprecipitation assays showed that DAZL bound to the mRNA of JAK2 and MCM8. The JAK2 inhibitor fedratinib attenuated the oncogenic outcomes induced by DAZL overexpression, whereas silencing MCM8 counteracted the effects of DAZL overexpression on cisplatin-damaged DNA synthesis and half-maximal inhibitory concentration of cisplatin. In conclusion, DAZL was identified as a novel cancer-germline gene that enhances the translation of JAK2 and MCM8 to promote NSCLC progression and resistance to cisplatin, respectively.
