Objective APM (automated people mover) has very high requirements for safety, and the existing SIL (safety integrity level) allocation method cannot meet the demand of APM projects efficiently and accurately. In order to ensure the safety and reliability of APM, further in-depth research should be conducted on the allocation of SIL and the determination of the safety targets for APM. Method The existing methods for SIL allocation in APM are elaborated, and a widely recognized method MODSafe (modular urban transport safety and security analysis) is proposed and applied for SIL allocation of APM. The basic steps of the MODSafe method are introduced, and the respective SIL allocation steps are clarified under the two modes of high and low safety demands. The technical idea for conducting SIL allocation based on MODSafe method is further elaborated with the train jerk control function of APM as the example. Result & Conclusion Identifying safety functions and determining safety targets in the initial design phase is crucial for the safe delivery， operation and other aspects of APM projects. The MODSafe method can be used to quantitatively determine the THR (tolerable hazard rate) and SIL of APM safety functions.

The presence of karst formations significantly impacts the load-bearing capacity of pile foundations in karst geological environments, posing a challenge to their design. This study investigated the bearing characteristics of karst pile foundations using the physical model test and numerical analysis. First, the influence of cave height and span on the bearing capacity of pile foundations is examined using model tests. The results demonstrate that the height of karst caves greatly affects the bearing capacity of karst pile foundations. Subsequently, numerical analysis further explores the bearing characteristics of these foundations. It reveals that as the top load on pile increases, an arch-shaped tensile damage zone forms at the top of karst cave and gradually expands. The rock failure in this area leads to a decrease in adhesion between rock strata and pile foundation, consequently reducing its load-bearing capacity. Finally, experimental results are compared with numerical results to validate consistency and mutual verifiability between physical model tests and numerical analyses. The outcomes of the research provide valuable insights for designing rock-socketed pile foundations in similar karst areas.

Atomic layer deposition (ALD) can be used to fabricate protective coatings including moisture barrier layers for organic light emitting diodes, anticorrosion layers for photoelectrodes, and plasma-resistant coating for semiconductor manufacturing equipment, which necessitates the deposition of large and thick ALD films via batch ALD. However, batch ALD for the fabrication of large-area and thick coatings exhibits nonideal film growth, a phenomenon that cannot solely be explained by transient concentration distribution within the deposition chamber. This paper describes the application of precursor "exposure" (in the unit of Langmuir, or Pa s), defined as the integral of concentration over time, as a metric to assess the growth per cycle (GPC) distribution under nonideal ALD conditions, demonstrating that the local GPC correlates well with the cumulative precursor exposure at that site. Consequently, this measure can effectively predict the nonuniformity (NU) distribution of film thickness and facilitate the determination of optimal operating conditions that ensure maximal uniformity of exposure. Under this condition, the intrafilm NU of ALD-grown Al2O3 film (nominal thickness 300 nm) was reduced to 1.2%, and the interfilm NU is diminished to as low as 3.3%. These values represent reductions of 40% and 45%, respectively, compared to the NU levels observed under nonideal conditions (insufficient trimethylaluminum, TMA exposure downstream). The plasma etch rate of ALD-deposited films is merely 4.3 nm/min, representing a reduction of one-half compared to films deposited under nonideal conditions (9.8 nm/min) with overload TMA exposure downstream leading to chemical vapor deposition-like reactions. Rupture of advanced carotid atherosclerotic plaques increases the risk of ischaemic stroke, which has significant global morbidity and mortality rates. However, the specific characteristics of immune cells with dysregulated function and proven biomarkers for the diagnosis of atherosclerotic plaque progression remain poorly characterised. Our study elucidated the role of immune cells and explored diagnostic biomarkers in advanced plaque progression using single‐cell RNA sequencing and high‐dimensional weighted gene co‐expression network analysis. We identified a subcluster of monocytes with significantly increased infiltration in the advanced plaques. Based on the monocyte signature and machine‐learning approaches, we accurately distinguished advanced plaques from early plaques, with an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.899 in independent external testing. Using microenvironment cell populations (MCP) counter and non‐negative matrix factorisation, we determined the association between monocyte signatures and immune cell infiltration as well as the heterogeneity of the patient. Finally, we constructed a convolutional neural network deep learning model based on gene‐immune correlation, which achieved an AUC of 0.933, a sensitivity of 92.3%, and a specificity of 87.5% in independent external testing for diagnosing advanced plaques. Our findings on unique subpopulations of monocytes that contribute to carotid plaque progression are crucial for the development of diagnostic tools for clinical diseases. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To study the failure of red sandstone under extremely high stress during the service life of tunnels, an in-depth study was conducted on the mechanical properties of red sandstone under uniaxial loading and cyclic loading and unloading processes at different pH values using the AG-250kNIS electronic precision material testing machine and MTS815 mechanical testing machine. The results show that as the acidity and alkalinity increase, the peak stress under uniaxial loading decreases and the axial strain increases,The peak stress at failure is 9.40, 12.37, 7.18, and 5.36 MPa, respectively, accounting for 74.19%, 68.91%, 40.38%, and 36.21% of the uniaxial compressive strength; The number of cycles significantly decreases during cyclic loading and unloading fatigue failure, and the stress required for sandstone failure gradually decreases. The peak strength and elastic modulus of sandstone show a decreasing trend, indicating that the hydrochemical environment plays an accelerating role in rock degradation. During the cyclic loading and unloading process of sandstone, there is a continuous increase in dissipated energy and finally a sudden increase, the Ud/U and Ue/U ratios at the peak point of sandstone in the natural state are 0.399 and 0.601, respectively, while the overall elastic energy shows an increasing trend; and a damage evolution model was established based on dissipative energy, which can better describe the degradation process of red sandstone.
