Abstract

The initial part of this paper is devoted to the notion of pseudo-seminorm on a vector space $E$. We prove that the topology of every topological vector space is defined by a family of pseudo-seminorms (and so, as it is known, it is uniformizable). Then we devote ourselves to the Lipschitz vector structures on $E$, that is those Lipschitz structures on $E$ for which the addition is a Lipschitz map, while the scalar multiplication is a locally Lipschitz map, and we prove that any topological vector structure on $E$ is associated to some Lipschitz vector structure. Afterwards, we attend to the bornological Lipschitz maps. The final part of the article is devoted to the Lipschitz vector structures compatible with locally convex topologies on $E$.

2. Efficient Compression of Redshift-Space Distortion Data for Late-Time Modified Gravity Models

Abstract

Current cosmological observations allow for deviations from the standard growth of large-scale structures in the universe. These deviations could indicate modifications to General Relativity on cosmological scales or suggest the dynamical nature of dark energy. It is important to characterize these departures in a model-independent manner to understand their significance objectively and explore their fundamental causes more generically across a wider spectrum of theories and models. In this paper, we compress the information from redshift-space distortion data into 2-3 parameters $\mu_i$, which control the ratio between the effective gravitational coupling in Poisson's equation and Newton's constant in several redshift bins in the late universe. We test the efficiency of this compression using mock final-year data from the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) and considering three different models within the class of effective field theories of dark energy. The constraints on the parameters of these models, obtained from both the direct fit to the data and the projection of the compressed parameters onto the parameters of the models, are fully consistent, demonstrating the method's good performance. Then, we apply it to current data and find hints of a suppressed matter growth in the universe at $\sim 2.7\sigma$ C.L., in full accordance with previous works in the literature. 3. A model-independent treatment of cosmic ladder calibration and $\Omega_k$ measurement through low-$z$ observations

Abstract

Looking at the well-known Hubble tension as a tension in the calibrators of the cosmic distance ladder, i.e. the absolute magnitude $M$ of standard candles such as supernovae of Type Ia (SNIa) and the standard ruler represented by the comoving sound horizon at the baryon-drag epoch, $r_d$, we propose a model-independent method to measure these distance calibrators independently from the cosmic microwave background and the first rungs of the direct distance ladder. To do so, we leverage state-of-the-art data on cosmic chronometers (CCH), SNIa and baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO) from various galaxy surveys. Taking advantage of the Gaussian Processes Bayesian technique, we reconstruct $M(z)$, $\Omega_k(z)$ and $r_d(z)$ at $z\lesssim2$ and check that no significant statistical evolution is preferred at 68\% C.L. This allows us to treat them as constants and constrain them assuming the metric description of gravity, the cosmological principle and the validity of CCH as reliable cosmic clocks, and SNIa and BAO as optimal standard candles and standard rulers, respectively, but otherwise in a model-independent way. We obtain: $\Omega_k=-0.07^{+0.12}_{-0.15}$, $M=(-19.314^{+0.086}_{-0.108})$ mag and $r_d=(142.3\pm 5.3)$ Mpc. 4. Quantification of 2D vs 3D BAO tension using SNIa as a redshift interpolator and test of the Etherington relation

Abstract

Several studies in the literature have found a disagreement between data on Baryon Acoustic Oscillations (BAO) derived using two distinct methodologies: the two-dimensional (2D or angular) BAO, which extracts the BAO signal from the angular two-point correlation function; and the three-dimensional (3D) BAO, which also exploits the radial signal imprinted on the large-scale structure of the universe. This discrepancy is worrisome, since many of the points contained in these data sets are obtained from the same catalogs of tracers, so we would expect them to be consistent. Since BAO measurements play a pivotal role in the building of the inverse distance ladder, this mismatch impacts the discourse on the Hubble tension and the theoretical solutions to the latter. So far, the discrepancy between 2D and 3D BAO has been only pointed out in the context of fitting analyses of cosmological models or parametrizations that involve a concrete calibration of the comoving sound horizon at the baryon-drag epoch. In this Letter, we avoid the use of any calibration and cosmological model, assuming that the Etherington (a.k.a distance duality) relation holds. We use state-of-the-art measurements in our analysis, and study how the results change when the angular components of the 3D BAO data from BOSS/eBOSS are substituted by the recent data from DESI Y1. We find the tension to exist at the level of $\sim 2\sigma$ and $\sim 2.5\sigma$, respectively, when the SNIa of Pantheon+ are used, and at $\sim 4.6\sigma$ when they are replaced with those of DES Y5. We then apply a calibrator-independent method to investigate the robustness of the distance duality relation when analyzed not only with 3D BAO measurements, but also with 2D BAO. We do not find any hint for a violation of the cosmic distance duality relation in any of the considered data sets. [abridged], Comment: 11 pages, 3 figures, 3 tables. 5. Phantom matter: a challenging solution to the cosmological tensions

Abstract

The idea of composite dark energy (DE) is quite natural since on general grounds we expect that the vacuum energy density (associated with the cosmological term $\Lambda$) may appear in combination with other effective forms of DE, denoted X. Here we deal with model $w$XCDM, a simplified version of the old $\Lambda$XCDM model (Grande et al., 2006), and exploit the possibility that X behaves as `phantom matter' (PM), which appears in stringy versions of the running vacuum model (RVM). Unlike phantom DE, the PM fluid satisfies the strong energy condition like usual matter, hence bringing to bear positive pressure at the expense of negative energy. Bubbles of PM may appear in the manner of a transitory `phantom vacuum' tunneled into the late universe before it heads towards a new de Sitter era, thereby offering a crop field for the growing of structures earlier than expected. Using SNIa, cosmic chronometers, transversal BAO (BAO 2D), LSS data and the full CMB likelihood from Planck 2018, we find that the $H_0$ and growth tensions virtually disappear, provided that BAO 2D are the only source of BAO data used in the fit. In contrast, our preliminary analysis using exclusively anisotropic BAO (BAO 3D) indicates that the ability to ease the $H_0$ tension is significantly reduced as compared to the scenario with BAO 2D, despite the fact that the overall fit to the cosmological data is still better than in the $\Lambda$CDM. Finally, our approach with BAO 2D favors quintessence-like behavior of the DE below $z\simeq 1.5$ at $\gtrsim 3\sigma$ CL, which is compatible with the recent DESI measurements., Comment: Extended discussion, typos corrected, references added. 6. Weak Lipschitz structures and their connections with the topological structures

Abstract

Two approaches to Lipschitz structures for any set are presented, studied and compared. The first approach is similar to the one proposed in Fraser, Jr. R. B., Axiom systems for Lipschitz structures, Fundamenta Mathematicae, (1970), where Lipschitz structures are defined as families of pseudo-metrics satisfying suitable conditions. The other one, here introduced, is expressed by using weak pseudo-metrics, which (unlike the pseudo-metrics) do not necessarily vanish on the whole of the diagonal of the cartesian product of the considered set. In this case we will talk about weak Lipschitz structures. Since all topological structures are defined by a a family of weak pseudo-metrics (as we will show in Section 4) we can find some connections between topological structures and weak Lipschitz structures, and a link between continuous maps and weak Lipschitz maps. A central part of this paper is devoted to the weak Lipschitz uniformity defined by a weak Lipschitz structure, which is introduced in Section 8. A notion of uniform continuity with respect to weak Lipschitz uniformities is proposed and studied. In particular, we prove that the weak Lipschitz maps acting between two weak Lipschitz spaces are uniformly continuous with respect to the weak Lipschitz uniformities defined by the respective weak Lipschitz structures.

7. Real structures. An introduction to a general approach

Abstract

In this paper we attempt to present a very general approach to the study of structures (somehow) defined on a set $X$ by a family of maps $d: X \times X \mapsto \mathbb{R}^+$. It will be shown how the assignment of a preorder $\prec_{\Pi}$ on a set $\Pi$ of families of maps from $X \times X$ into $\mathbb{R}^+$ defines a structure on $X$. The structures obtained in this way will be called \emph{real structures}. For real structures on two different sets we study when they are \emph{of the same type}. An answer to this question will allow to introduce the notion of \emph{morphism}, and then to give the definition of the initial real structure with respect to a family of maps, and so also the definition of product real structure. Various examples of preorders, and hence of real structures, will be exhibited and discussed. A few examples of morphisms will be proposed.

8. Towards a new model-independent calibration of Gamma-Ray Bursts

Abstract

Current data on baryon acoustic oscillations and Supernovae of Type Ia cover up to $z\sim 2.5$. These observations play a very important role in the determination of cosmological parameters and have been widely used to constrain the $\Lambda$CDM and models beyond it. To extend the investigation to higher $z$, Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs) stand out as one of the most promising observables since can probe the universe up to $z\sim9.4$. The use of GRB correlations is still a challenge due to the spread in their intrinsic properties. In this work, we propose an innovative and cosmology-independent method of calibration of the so-called 3D Dainotti correlation. We employ state-of-the-art data on Cosmic Chronometers (CCH) at $z\lesssim2$ and use the Gaussian Processes reconstruction tool. To match the CCH redshift range, we select 20 long GRBs in $0.553\leq z\leq1.96$ from the Platinum sample, which consists of well-defined GRB plateau properties that obey the fundamental plane relation. We verify that the choice of priors on the parameters of the Dainotti relation and the modelling of CCH uncertainties and covariance have negligible impact on our results. We also consider the case in which the redshift evolution of the physical features of the plane is accounted for. We find that the use of CCH allows us to identify a sub-sample of GRBs that adhere even more closely to the fundamental plane relation, with an intrinsic scatter of $\sigma_{int}=0.20^{+0.03}_{-0.05}$ when evolutionary effects are considered. In an epoch in which we strive to reduce uncertainties on the GRB correlations variables to tighten constraints on cosmological parameters, we have found a novel model-independent approach to pinpoint a sub-sample that can thus represent a valuable set of standardizable candles. This allows us to extend the distance ladder presenting a new catalogue of calibrated luminosity distances up to $z=5$., Comment: 20 pages, 10 figures, 6 tables. Abstract Background General mental health inpatient units hold a valuable place in the stepped system of care, and for identification and treatment of people with eating disorders (EDs) or disordered eating behaviours (DEBs). This study aimed to pragmatically evaluate an evidence-informed screening and care pathway, alongside a staff education program, implemented to improve identification and treatment access for consumers with EDs and DEBs, with co-occurring psychiatric conditions, on a general mental health ward. Methods A mixed methodology design was mapped to the RE-AIM implementation framework. It encompassed medical record audits across two 3-month time points pre and post implementation of the pathway, and key informant consumer and health professional interviews. Results Process and implementation data were compared for three-month periods pre (2019, n = 348) and post-implementation (2021, n = 284). Abstract

Abstract This retrospective cohort study used Taussig Cancer Center’s Myeloma Patient Registry to identify adults with multiple myeloma diagnosed between January 2017-December 2021. Electronic health records data captured time from diagnosis to initial prescription fill for oral antimyeloma medications and initiation of facility administered or oral antimyeloma treatment. We identified 720 patients with a mean age at diagnosis of 67 years ±11; 55% were male, 77% White, 22% Black, 1% other races, covered by private insurance (36%), traditional Medicare (29%), Medicare Advantage (25%), and Medicaid (8.3%). Over a third of patients (37%) resided in an area in the most disadvantaged area deprivation index (ADI) quartile. The median available follow-up was 765 days. Seventy-five percent of the cohort filled an oral antimyeloma medication prescription (excluding corticosteroids), with a median time to fill of 28 days (IQR, 15–61). In the multivariable Cox regression model, Black race (vs. White, adjusted hazard ratio [aHR], 0.61, 95% CI, 0.42–0.87), older age at diagnosis (aHR per 1 year, 0.97, 95% CI, 0.95–0.98), diagnosis during an inpatient admission (aHR, 0.63, 95% CI, 0.43–0.92), and estimated glomerular filtration rate ≤29 ml/min/1.73 m2 (vs. ≥60, aHR, 0.46, 95% CI, 0.29–0.73) were negatively associated with prescription fill for oral antimyeloma medication at 30 days, while insurance type and ADI were not significant predictors.

Abstract Invasive fungal disease (IFD) presents a life-threatening condition in immunocompromised patients, thus often prompting empirical administration of antifungal treatment, without adequate mycological evidence. Over the past years, wide use of antifungal prophylaxis resulted in decreased occurrence of IFD but has contributed to changes in the spectrum of fungal pathogens, revealing the occurrence of previously rare fungal genera causing breakthrough infections. The expanding spectrum of clinically relevant fungal pathogens required the implementation of screening approaches permitting broad rather than targeted fungus detection to support timely onset of pre-emptive antifungal treatment. To address this diagnostically important aspect in a prospective setting, we analyzed 935 serial peripheral blood (PB) samples from 195 pediatric and adult patients at high risk for IFD, involving individuals displaying febrile neutropenia during treatment of hematological malignancies or following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Two different panfungal-PCR-screening methods combined with ensuing fungal genus identification by Sanger sequencing were employed. In the great majority of PB-specimens displaying fungal DNAemia, the findings were transient and revealed fungi commonly regarded as non-pathogenic or rarely pathogenic even in the highly immunocompromised patient setting. Hence, to adequately exploit the diagnostic potential of panfungal-PCR approaches for detecting IFD, particularly if caused by hitherto rarely observed fungal pathogens, it is necessary to confirm the findings by repeated testing and to identify the fungal genus present by ensuing analysis. If applied appropriately, panfungal-PCR-screening can help prevent unnecessary empirical therapy, and conversely, contribute to timely employment of effective pre-emptive antifungal treatment strategies.

We use state-of-the-art measurements in our analysis, and study how the results change when the angular components of the 3D BAO data from BOSS/eBOSS are substituted by the recent data from DESI Y1. We find the tension to exist at the level of ∼2σ and ∼2.5σ, respectively, when the SNIa of the Pantheon+ compilation are used, and at ∼4.6σ when the latter are replaced with those of DES Y5. In view of these results, we then apply a calibrator-independent method to investigate the robustness of the distance duality relation when analyzed not only with 3D BAO measurements, but also with 2D BAO. This is a test of fundamental physics, which covers, among other aspects, variations of the speed of light with the cosmic expansion or possible interactions between the dark and electromagnetic sectors. Abstract

One of the critical processes in human reproduction that is still poorly understood is implantation. The implantation of an early human embryo is considered a significant limitation of successful pregnancy. Therefore, researchers are trying to develop an ideal model of endometrium in vitro that can mimic the endometrial micro-environment in vivo as much as possible. The ultimate goal of endometrial modeling is to study the molecular interactions at the embryo-maternal interface and to use this model as an in vitro diagnostic tool for infertility. Significant progress has been made over the years in generating such models. The first experiments of endometrial modeling involved animal models, which are undoubtedly valuable, but at the same time, their dissimilarities with human tissue represent a significant obstacle to further research. This fact led researchers to develop basic monolayer coculture systems using uterine cells obtained from biopsies and, later on, complex and multilayer coculture models. With successful tissue engineering methods and various cultivation systems, it is possible to form endometrial two-dimensional (2D) models to three-dimensional (3D) organoids and novel assembloids that can recapitulate many aspects of endometrial tissue architecture and cell composition. These organoids have already helped to provide new insight into the embryo-endometrium interplay. The main aim of this paper is a comprehensive review of past and current approaches to endometrial model generation, their feasibility, and potential clinical application for infertility treatment.

Abstract

Acute Myeloid Leukemia is mainly a disease of the elderly: however, the knowledge on the outcomes of treatment in core binding factor AML (CBFAML) in older population, is limited. We retrospectively collected data on 229 patients with CBF- AML followed long-term in the last two decades. A 5-year overall survival (OS) of 44.2% (95%CI, 39.9-47.5) and a 5-year event – free survival (EFS) of 32.9% (95%CI, 25.5-40.1) was observed. In a subgroup of >70-year patients who completed intensive therapy (induction + >3 courses of consolidation including autologous stem cell transplant: 10 patients) the median EFS was 11.8 months (95%CI, 9.4 – 15.2) and OS was 40.0% (95%CI, 36.4 – 44.1) at 5yr. Abstract

Flood hazard mapping is currently in a transitional phase involving the use of data and methods that were traditionally in the domain of local studies in a regional or nationwide context. Challenges include the representation of local information such as hydrological particularities and small hydraulic structures, as well as computational and labour costs. This paper proposes a methodology of flood hazard mapping that merges the best of the two worlds (local and regional studies) based on experiences in Austria. The analysis steps include (a) quality control and correction of river network and catchment boundary data; (b) estimation of flood discharge peaks and volumes on the entire river network; (c) creation of a digital elevation model (DEM) that is consistent with all relevant flood information, including riverbed geometry; and (d) simulation of inundation patterns and velocities associated with a consistent flood return period across the entire river network. In each step, automatic methods are combined with manual interventions in order to maximise the efficiency and at the same time ensure estimation accuracy similar to that of local studies. The accuracy of the estimates is evaluated in each step. The study uses flood discharge records from 781 stations to estimate flood hazard patterns of a given return period at a resolution of 2 m over a total stream length of 38 000 km. It is argued that a combined local–regional methodology will advance flood mapping, making it even more useful in nationwide or global contexts.

Abstract

Este escrito se propone reflexionar en torno a un conjunto de fotografías de la serie Ajuste y represión (M.A.F.I.A., 2017), en perspectiva con un grupo de imágenes de El Cordobazo de Isaac Silbermanas del año 1969. A partir del reconocimiento de rasgos anacrónicos en dichas representaciones se desarrolla una indagación teórica sobre la constitución del espacio-tiempo en las imágenes fotográficas. Para lo cual, planteamos pensar desde las categorías de magia (Flusser, 2019), performatividad (Soto Calderón, 2020) y ficción (Dubois, 2016; Escobar, 2021) como nociones que abordan aspectos específicos de las imágenes, y que nos conducen a trazar encuentros, desencuentros e interrogantes sobre los modos en los que la fotografía construye representaciones ficcionales de lo real.

Abstract

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are one of the most important issues related to sexual and reproductive health, as it is estimated that more than 1 million new infections are acquired every day worldwide and data on the prevalence and incidence of these infections, especially among young people, are increasing. Nevertheless, there are some knowledge and behavioral gaps, and young people need more support from their school and family network to protect themselves and their peers. Therefore, we have designed a multicenter prospective intervention study involving public lower and upper secondary school students, their parents and teachers (ESPRIT). The intervention will take place in the school year 2023–2024, where students will meet with experts and be involved in peer education, while adults (parents and teachers) will participate in distance and face-to-face trainings. All target groups will complete KAP (knowledge, attitudes, practice) questionnaires before and after participating in the intervention to measure its effectiveness. The results of this study will help to assess and improve the level of knowledge of lower and upper secondary school students, parents and teachers about STIs and HPV in particular, raise awareness of sexual and reproductive health issues, including vaccination, among lower and upper secondary school students and their families, and evaluate the effectiveness of these interventions in terms of improving knowledge and changing attitudes and behaviors. The study protocol has been approved by the Regional Unique Ethics Committee of Friuli Venezia Giulia (CEUR-2023-Sper-34). The project is being carried out with the technical and financial support of the Italian Ministry of Health—CCM.

Abstract

Summary: Human genetic studies of critical COVID-19 pneumonia have revealed the essential role of type I interferon-dependent innate immunity to SARS-CoV-2 infection. Conversely, an association between the HLA-B∗15:01 allele and asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection in unvaccinated individuals was recently reported, suggesting a contribution of pre-existing T cell-dependent adaptive immunity. We report a lack of association of classical HLA alleles, including HLA-B∗15:01, with pre-omicron asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection in unvaccinated participants in a prospective population-based study in the United States (191 asymptomatic vs. 945 symptomatic COVID-19 cases). Moreover, we found no such association in the international COVID Human Genetic Effort cohort (206 asymptomatic vs. 574 mild or moderate COVID-19 cases and 1,625 severe or critical COVID-19 cases). Finally, in the Human Challenge Characterisation study, the three HLA-B∗15:01 individuals infected with SARS-CoV-2 developed symptoms. As with other acute primary infections studied, no classical HLA alleles favoring an asymptomatic course of SARS-CoV-2 infection were identified.

39. Motherhood and breastfeeding after breast cancer

Abstract

Introduction. Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer in women. The most reliable method to diagnose breast cancer is through mammography, combined with ultrasonography or magnetic resonance imaging. The treatment plan may include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, targeted therapy, or immunotherapy. Case report. The following is a case report of a 46-yearold woman who visited a physician in 2007 when she was planning her second pregnancy. She was 30 years old at the time. During a routine breast self-examination, she noticed a lump and was sent for an ultrasound examination where the tumor was confirmed. After diagnosis and preoperative preparation, she underwent breast-preserving surgery of the left breast, along with axilla dissection due to positive lymph nodes. Pathohistologic findings confirmed Carcinoma mixtus praecipue ductale G2 et partim mucinosum G2, while no metastatic changes were found in the axillary lymph nodes. The tumor's hormonal status was estrogen 1, progesterone 1, and HER2 2. The patient received six rounds of FAC chemotherapy followed by 16 rounds of trastuzumab. After starting on tamoxifen and using it until December 2009, she had to undergo the removal of her right ovary due to the discovery of numerous cysts. Several cysts were also found on the left ovary. Five years after her breast cancer surgery, the patient became pregnant and gave birth to a baby girl. She breastfed her for ten months from the breast that was not operated on. Conclusion. Breast cancer is a serious illness that can greatly affect the reproductive health of young women. It is essential to take into account the patient's desire to have children after treatment. Therefore, it is crucial to provide appropriate therapy and counseling.

Abstract

Number Box Toys merupakan mainan anak dengan rentang usia 1-4 tahun yang dirancang untuk membantu anak-anak dalam mengembangkan keterampilan kognitif dan motorik sekaligus belajar mengenai ragam bentuk angka dan warna, yang terdiri dari angka 0-9. Tujuan dari pengembangan prototype game education ini yaitu untuk memberikan gambar visual terhadap produk dan menentukan harga pokok produksi dari produk Number Box Toys yang produksinya dilakukan dengan menggunakan mesin 3D Printing. Sebelum membuat prototype, dilakukan pembuatan desain produk Number Box Toys dalam bentuk 2D dan 3D menggunakan software Solidwork kemudian dilakukan penyusunan Bill of Material (BOM) dan Operation Process Chart (OPC). Pada pembuatan prototype Number Box Toys digunakan software simulasi menggunakan aplikasi Creality Slicer untuk menunjukan total waktu yang dibutuhkan untuk menghasilkan satu produk Number Box Toys yaitu sekitar 1803,78 menit atau sekitar 30,063 jam. Total waktu yang diperlukan untuk menyelesaikan seluruh Operation Process Chart Number Box Toys dibutuhkan waktu selama 1822,78 menit atau sekitar 30,38 jam, dengan rincian 57 proses operasi dan 18 proses inspeksi. Hasil perhitungan harga pokok produksi game education Number Box Toys berdasarkan total waktu yang dibutuhkan, harga material, serta biaya tenaga kerja diperoleh nilai Harga Pokok Produksi sebesar Rp. 404.680,89 dan Harga Jual sebesar Rp 465.383.02 dengan keuntungan yang diperoleh sebesar 15% dari HPP sebesar Rp 60.702,13. Adanya perbedaan harga yang signifikan terhadap harga produk serupa yang dijual dipasaran dikarenakan prototype produk Number Box Toys diproduksi menggunakan 3D Printing yang memerlukan banyak waktu dalam membuat setiap partnya namun dengan ukuran atau bentuk yang dapat disesuaikan (custom) dengan konsumen.

Abstract Introduction Symptoms of cancer‐related fatigue (CRF) can have a significant impact on patients' quality of life and treatment adherence. We aimed to investigate the relationship between CRF and multiple psychosocial and somatic indicators within a large mixed cancer sample. Methods In this cross‐sectional study, N = 1787 outpatients with cancer were assessed for CRF, pain, anxiety, and depression using validated screening instruments. We further obtained clinical parameters (Hb, CRP, creatinine, leukocytes, ASAT, and ALAT), sociodemographic data (age, gender, income, education level, marital status, parenthood, and living area), and lifestyle factors. Multivariate linear regression models were applied to estimate the impact of each indicator on CRF. Results Overall, 90.6% of patients experienced some CRF, with 14.8% experiencing severe CRF. Abstract

The aim of this paper is to show the circumstances, problems, and perspectives of the CLIL teachingin Serbia in Russian as a vehicular language at the high school level based on the conducted empirical research. The research included the following: visits to schools, analysis of documents, anonymous surveys filled out by 12 teachers and 95 students involved in bilingual teaching, as well as the results of students’ testing of the final grades in Aleksinac High School. The main aim was to determine the impact of CLIL teaching on the development of students’ competences in the Russian language. According to the results of the research, key problems related to CLIL teaching in the Russian language are indicated in the paper. Guidelines for improvement are proposed.

ObjectiveMeta-analysis focusing on the role of first-trimester neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in the prediction of preeclampsia.Data sourcesPubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and Embase databases were queried from inception up to December 31, 2022.Study eligibility criteriaThe study included all types of original research that was conducted in humans and values of NLR were measured during the first trimester, among patients who later developed preeclampsia, compared to the values of control groups.Study appraisal and synthesis methodsTwo reviewers independently performed data abstraction and quality appraisal, and disagreements were resolved by consensus and, if necessary, by the opinion of a third reviewer. During the analysis, PRISMA and MOOSE guidelines were followed. All statistical analyses were made with R.ResultsFor the research on the predictive role of NLR values in the first trimester for preeclampsia, a total of 6 studies were selected for analysis, covering 2,469 patients. The meta-analysis revealed a 95% confidence interval (CI) for the effect size of 0.641 to 1.523, with a prediction interval of 0.027 to 2.137.ConclusionBased on the analysis, NLR is a promising biochemical marker for future pieces of research that try to find new screening methods for first-trimester preeclampsia.
