Synovial sarcoma (SS) is a high-grade malignancy, accounting for 2.5–3.5 % of all primary H&N sarcomas and 0.1 % of all H&N cancers. A 26-year-old woman presents with dyspnea and dysphonia. Flexible nasofibrolaryngoscopy and CT were performed with evidence of a laryngeal tumor. Total laryngectomy was performed due to a histopathological report of laryngeal synovial sarcoma. Primary SS of the H&N is rare and accounts for <5 % of all synovial sarcomas and laryngeal-origin SS represents a rare subset within H&N sarcomas. There are 3 different histologic subtypes: biphasic, monophasic and poorly differentiated. Immunohistochemistry plays a crucial role in histologic diagnosis. The optimal treatment of synovial sarcoma is multimodal, depending on its size, location and grade. Radical surgical excision with negative margins is generally accepted as the mainstay of treatment. Disease recurrence is a significant problem, with up to 45 % of patients developing local disease and 33 % developing metastatic disease. Precise control over the catenation process in interlocked supramolecular systems remains a significant challenge. Here, we report a system in which a lantern-shaped Pd 2 L 4 cage can dimerize to form two distinct Pd 4 L 8 catenanes with different interlocking degree: a previously described quadruply interlocked double cage motif of D 4 symmetry and an unprecedented triply interlocked structure of C 2h symmetry. While the former structure features a linear arrangement of four Pd(II) centers, separated by three mechanically linked pockets, the new motif has a staggered shape. Both assemblies are topological isomers, coexisting in equilibrium in solution. The triply interlocked species is thermodynamically more stable due to extended noncovalent interactions between the ligands, as supported by X-ray structure analysis and electronic structure calculations. Notably, the degree of interlocking in the double cage system can be controlled by a change of temperature and through anion exchange. Background: The aim of this article is to evaluate the effect of different portions of Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) membranes and liquid-PRF, prepared by two distinct protocols/centrifuges each, on the multispecies subgingival biofilm., Materials and Methods: PRF membranes and liquid-PRF were prepared using two protocols: centrifuge 1 uses fixed acceleration while centrifuge 2, progressive acceleration. PRF samples were introduced into device concurrently with 33-species bacterial inoculum. After seven days, biofilm metabolic activity (MA) and microbial profile were evaluated through colorimetric reaction and DNA-DNA hybridization, respectively., Results: Among PRF membranes, the ones from centrifuge 1 led to better reduction in MA, total biofilm, and F. periodonticum, P. gingivalis and T. forsythia counts when compared to untreated/centrifuge 2 treated biofilms. However, centrifuge 2 liquid-PRF reduced MA, total biofilm and F. periodonticum counts when compared to untreated/centrifuge 1 treated-biofilms., Conclusion: PRF membrane and exhibited comparable antibiofilm activity.
