Zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) feature complex phase transitions, including polymorphism, melting, vitrification, and polyamorphism. Experimentally probing their structural evolution during transitions involving amorphous phases is a significant challenge, especially at the medium-range length scale. To overcome this challenge, here we first train a deep learning-based force field to identify the structural characteristics of both crystalline and non-crystalline ZIF phases. This allows us to reproduce the structural evolution trend during the melting of crystals and formation of ZIF glasses at various length scales with an accuracy comparable to that of ab initio molecular dynamics, yet at a much lower computational cost. Based on this approach, we propose a new structural descriptor, namely, the ring orientation index, to capture the propensity for crystallization of ZIF-4 (Zn(Im)2, Im = C3H3N2-) glasses, as well as for the formation of ZIF-zni (Zn(Im)2) out of the high-density amorphous phase. This crystal formation process is a result of the reorientation of imidazole rings by sacrificing the order of the structure around the zinc-centered tetrahedra. The outcomes of this work are useful for studying phase transitions in other metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and may thus guide the development of MOF glasses.

Abstract Background Cardiac myxomas are the most common primary benign tumors of the heart usually presenting as an oval mass attached to the interatrial septum. Mild heterogenous enhancement is typically seen upon contrast administration. Myxomas are benign, however can present with embolic episodes necessitating prompt diagnosis and treatment. Case presentation A middle-aged woman presenting with acute ischemic stroke was detected to have a complex cystic mass in the left atrium on echocardiography. Further evaluation with cardiac magnetic resonance imaging narrowed a differential diagnosis to hemangioma, hemangioendothelioma, sarcoma, hydatid cysts, bronchogenic cysts, and cystic variant of cardiac myxoma. CTA demonstrated arterial supply from the left circumflex artery supplying the lesion. Following surgical excision, histopathology analysis suggested a cystic cardiac myxoma with secondary degeneration. Conclusion Cystic masses in the heart are challenging to diagnose due to similar imaging characteristics, and misdiagnosis may lead to further major downstream complications such as stroke, hemorrhage, and hemodynamic alterations causing syncope. Therefore, surgical excision of a cystic cardiac mass is justified to establish a definitive histopathological diagnosis and prevent further downstream complications. We hereby report a rare case of cystic cardiac myxoma in the left atrium showing intense progressive enhancement in CMR and CTA in a middle-aged woman presenting with acute stroke. This case highlights an exceedingly rare variant of cystic cardiac myxoma.

Bare soil mapping is inevitable for the monitoring of soil resources as it acts as a major indicator of urban development. Although remote sensing based indices are largely used for the delineation of bare soil, their effectiveness has always been a challenge due to overlapping spectral characteristics of the bare soil and built up areas. Recently, built up indices have been employed to increase the accuracy of bare soil mapping, which can induce discrepancies due to lesser sensitivity in smaller patches of bare soil areas in high density urban regions. In this context, Modified Normalized Difference Bare Soil Index (MNDBSI) is developed using a logical combination of index with additional constraint for the precise delineation of bare soil area using Sentinel 2 images. Qualitative and quantitative analyses adopted to evaluate the performance of the MNDBSI revealed an overall agreement value of above 95% and the improvement percentage of MNDBSI over the other indices compared in terms of Spectral Discrimination Index and Transformed Divergence varied from 8% to 166% and 15% to 97%, respectively across all study areas. The comparative analyses of results indicate that MNDBSI is an effective alternative to the existing indices for precise bare soil mapping which can be used as a promising indicator of urban expansion.

Abstract Task scheduling problem (TSP) is huge challenge in cloud computing paradigm as number of tasks comes to cloud application platform vary from time to time and all the tasks consists of variable length, runtime capacities. All these tasks may generated from various heterogeneous resources which comes onto cloud console directly effects the performance of cloud paradigm with increase in makespan, energy consumption, resource costs. Traditional task scheduling algorithms cannot handle these type of complex workloads in cloud paradigm. Many authors developed Task Scheduling algorithms by using metaheuristic techniques, hybrid approaches but all these algorithms give near optimal solutions but still TSP is a highly challenging and dynamic scenario as it resembles NP hard problem. Therefore, to tackle the TSP in cloud computing paradigm and schedule the tasks in an effective way in cloud paradigm, we formulated Adaptive Task scheduler which segments all the tasks comes to cloud console as sub tasks and fed these to the scheduler which is modeled by Improved Asynchronous Advantage Actor Critic Algorithm(IA3C) to generate schedules. This scheduling process is carried out in two stages. In first stage, all incoming tasks are segmented as sub tasks. After segmentation, all these sub tasks according to their size, execution time, communication time are grouped together and fed to the (ATSIA3C) scheduler. In the second stage, it checks for the above said constraints and disperse them onto the corresponding suitable processing capacity VMs resided in datacenters. Proposed ATSIA3C is simulated on Cloudsim. Extensive simulations are conducted using both fabricated worklogs and as well as realtime supercomputing worklogs. Our proposed mechanism evaluated over baseline algorithms i.e. RATS-HM, AINN-BPSO, MOABCQ. From results it is evident that our proposed ATSIA3C outperforms existing task schedulers by improving makespan by 70.49%. Resource cost is improved by 77.42%. Energy Consumption is improved over compared algorithms 74.24% in multi cloud environment by proposed ATSIA3C.

Background and Aims: General anaesthesia (GA) is the preferred modality for breast surgeries; however, neuraxial anaesthesia can be performed in cases where GA poses a significant risk. We hypothesise that neuraxial blockade is a safe and effective alternative to GA in short-duration breast surgeries. Methods: This randomised study included 30 patients of the American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status I and II, who were scheduled for elective breast surgeries of a duration of less than 90 min. Group I received thoracic spinal anaesthesia, while in Group II, standardised GA was administered. The primary outcome was the time to the first rescue analgesic, and the secondary outcomes were time to recovery, patient satisfaction and the cost incurred. Results: The demographic characteristics of both groups were comparable (P > 0.05). The time to first rescue analgesic in Group I was more than in Group II (P = 0.001). Patient satisfaction score was superior in Group I compared to Group II (P = 0.002). The average cost was lower in Group I compared to Group II (P = 0.002). Recovery was quicker in Group I than in Group II (P = 0.001). There were no significant haemodynamic disturbances or major complications in either group. Conclusion: Thoracic spinal anaesthesia is an excellent alternative to GA in terms of analgesic efficacy, patient satisfaction, recovery and cost-effectiveness for short-duration breast surgeries.

Abstract H-bonded liquid crystals (HBLCs) are newly synthesized with PyBF viz., (4-pyridyl)-benzylidene-4′-fluoro aniline as the proton acceptor which is non-mesogenic and alkyloxy benzoic acids viz., nOBAs (n = 3, 12) as the mesogenic proton donors. The H-bond formed is confirmed by FTIR spectroscopy. Polarizing Optical Microscopy confirmed the H-bonded compound’s mesomorphic textures, and the thermal analysis is carried out using a Differential Scanning Calorimeter. The influence of fluorine atom on mesomorphic stability is studied. The nonlinear optical properties of the H-bonded compound is studied using DFT theoretical approach. Background: Distal end radius fractures are common injuries treated in orthopedic practice, with varying treatment modalities influencing outcomes. Aims and Objectives: The study was designed to compare the outcomes between open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) with plating and K-wires plus casting in patients treated for distal end radius fractures. Materials and Methods: One hundred patients with distal end radius fractures were included and divided into two groups: Group A (ORIF with plating) and Group B (K-wires plus casting), with 50 patients in each group. Parameters included were healing time, complication rates, functional recovery, patient satisfaction scores, pain levels during recovery, and the time to return to daily activities. Results: Group A demonstrated a shorter average healing time (8 weeks) compared to Group B (9 weeks). Complication rates showed 5% malunion and 4% delayed union in Group A, against 12% and 6%, respectively, in Group B. Functional recovery was higher in Group A, with 93% grip strength and 88% range of motion recovery. Patient satisfaction was also higher in Group A (8.5 out of 10) compared to Group B (7.5 out of 10). Pain levels during recovery were lower in Group A, and the time to return to daily activities was shorter (8 weeks for Group A versus 10 weeks for Group B). Conclusion: The study suggests that ORIF with plating offers better outcomes in terms of healing time, complication rates, functional recovery, patient satisfaction, pain management, and quicker return to daily activities than K-wires plus casting for distal end radius fractures.

This paper reports the theoretical simulation study of the performance of a complete solid-state dye-sensitised solar cell with Eosin-Y as the photosensitizer and PEDOT: PSS as the hole transport layer. SCAPS-1D software is used for the simulation under quasi-ideal conditions and got an optimised efficiency of 4.19%, which matches much with the reported experimental values in the literature. These finding indicates the potential of Eosin-Y as a cost-effective photosensitiser capable of performing even under dim light conditions.

To better comprehend the machinability studies during MMCs, the effect of cutting tool while machining MMCs, the cutting forces that induce and importantly the influence of cutting tool were carried out. Polycrystalline diamond (PCD) and uncoated tungsten carbide (K10) cutting tools were used to machine a eutectic (Al-12wt% Si alloy) and a hypereutectic (Al-17wt%Si) matrix material with Silicon Carbide (SiCP) and Aluminium Oxide (Al2O3P) in the particulate form at 0, 5, 7.5, and 10 volume percent volume fractions as MMCs. To further characterize the machinability of the composites, SEM analysis of chips created during machining and the cutting inserts was performed. Based on the results of the MMC machining operations, the Built-up Edge (BUE) development on the K10 insert has caused it to exert significantly higher cutting forces than the PCD. Machining of SiCp and Al2O3P reinforced Al-Si alloys utilizing K10 insert showed a comparatively bigger difference in cutting forces, indicating that the cutting forces exerted by PCD did not significantly alter with varied composite composition.

Background: There are no recent studies with a focus on the histopathology of erythema nodosum leprosum (ENL). Objectives: To describe the histopathological spectrum of ENL. Materials and Methods: Digital records from the pathology department were searched, and 125 slides were included. The histopathologic findings were recorded using a pre-designed proforma. Results: Several patterns were noted with the most common being a superficial and deep, perivascular and peri-appendageal, well-circumscribed dermal infiltrate that was seen in 70 (56.0%) biopsies. Other dermal patterns included a similar but loose infiltrate in 19 (15.2%) biopsies, diffuse dermal involvement in 9 (7.2%), top-heavy in 9 (7.2%), and bottom-heavy infiltrates in 12 (9.6%). Subcutaneous tissue was included in 107 biopsies. Extension of dermal infiltrates to the subcutis was noted in 71 (66.4%) biopsies and predominant involvement of the subcutis was noted in 6 (4.8%) biopsies, with lobular involvement in 60 (56.1%), septal involvement in 3 (2.8%), and septo-lobular involvement in 14 (13.1%). In 30 (28.0%) biopsies, the subcutaneous fat was uninvolved. The infiltrates contained neutrophils and foamy histiocytes in variable proportions, along with lymphocytes and plasma cells. Eosinophils were noted occasionally. Medium and/or small vessel vasculitis was noted in 11 (8.8%) biopsies. Fite-Faraco staining was available for 112 biopsies and revealed mainly fragmented and granular acid-fast bacilli (AFB) in 29 (25%) biopsies. Limitations: Our study had a retrospective design; we could not compare the lesional age and clinical characteristics of patients with the histological features. Conclusion: ENL is characterized by dermal infiltrates composed of foamy histiocytes and neutrophils in varying proportions arrayed in different dermal patterns. Extension of dermal infiltrates into the subcutis was frequent but absent in some. Predominant or exclusive involvement of the subcutis was rare. Vasculitis was noted in a small minority, while AFB were demonstrated in about a quarter of cases.

Obscure gastrointestinal bleed (OGIB) is defined as bleeding of unknown origin that persists or recurs after a negative initial or primary endoscopy (colonoscopy and upper gastrointestinal [GI] endoscopy) and imaging. Approximately 5% of all GI bleeding is obscure GI bleed. Abnormal blood vessels arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) cause 30%–40% of small intestinal bleeds. AVMs are the main source of bleeding in patients over the age of 50 years. Tumors (benign and malignant), polyps, Crohn’s disease, and ulcers are some of the other causes of bleeding. Various diagnostic modalities available to detect small intestinal bleed are upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, contrast-enhanced computed tomography scan of the abdomen with angiogram, small bowel enteroscopy, video capsule endoscopy, and scintigraphy studies. Advanced imaging/diagnostic modalities may not be available in all centers, posing a great challenge in the localization of the source of GI bleed. This series highlights the role of diagnostic laparoscopy with intraoperative enteroscope (IOE) in the management of OGIB.
