Over‐estimation of summer precipitation over the Tibetan Plateau (TP) is a well‐known and persistent problem in most climate models. This study demonstrates the impact of a Gaussian Probability Density Function cloud fraction scheme on rainfall simulations using the Weather Research and Forecasting model. It is found that this scheme in both 0.1° and 0.05° resolutions significantly reduces the wet bias through both local feedbacks and large‐scale dynamic process. Specifically, increased cloud water/ice content with this scheme reduces surface shortwave radiation, and consequently surface heat fluxes and evapotranspiration. This, in turn, dampens the large‐scale thermal effect of the TP and weakens the exaggerated monsoon circulation and low‐level moisture convergence. It is this large‐scale dynamic process that contributes the most (∼70%) to the wet bias reduction. Although this paper presents a modeling study, it highlights the cloud radiative feedback to the large‐scale dynamics and precipitation over the TP. Plain Language Summary: Despite numerous attempts to correct the overestimation of summer precipitation over the Tibetan Plateau (TP) in current global and regional climate models, the issue persists. This study applies the Gaussian Probability Density Function (GPDF) cloud fraction scheme in the Weather Research and Forecasting model at two different resolutions (0.1° and 0.05°) during a summer over the TP. The results show that the GPDF scheme significantly mitigates the precipitation overestimation, particularly in the high‐resolution modeling. We explored the physical processes, both local and remote, that contribute to this improvement. Specifically, an increase in cloudiness reduces the amount of radiation reaching the land surface. This decrease in surface radiative heating not only reduces local evaporation but also weakens the thermal effect of the TP. The latter is a major driver of the South Asian monsoon that conveys moisture to the TP, and its weakening reduces moisture convergence over the TP. Both the decreases in local evaporation and remote moisture convergence contribute to the alleviation of the precipitation overestimation, and the latter plays a dominant role. These findings provide a unique perspective for reducing the wet bias over the TP, focusing on the surface available energy and associated remote moisture processes. The cloud classification algorithm widely used in the International Satellite Cloud Climatology Project (ISCCP) tends to underestimate low clouds over the Tibetan Plateau (TP), often mistaking water clouds for high‐level clouds. To address this issue, we propose a new algorithm based on cloud‐top temperature and optical thickness, which we apply to TP using Advanced Himawari Imager (AHI) geostationary satellite data. Compared with Clouds and the Earth's Radiant Energy System cloud‐type products and ISCCP results obtained from AHI data, this new algorithm markedly improved low‐cloud detection accuracy and better aligned with cloud phase results. Validation with lidar cloud‐type products further confirmed the superiority of this new algorithm. Diurnal cloud variations over the TP show morning dominance shifting to afternoon high clouds and evening mid‐level clouds. Winter is dominated by high clouds, summer by mid‐level clouds, spring by daytime low clouds and nighttime high clouds, and autumn by low and mid‐level clouds. The two vegetation transfer parameters of $\tau $ τ (Vegetation Optical Depth,VOD) and $\omega $ ω (Omega) could vary significantly across microwave channels in terms of frequencies, polarizations, and incidence angles, and their channel-dependent characteristics have not yet been fully investigated. In this study, we investigate the channel dependence of vegetation effects on microwave emissions from soils using a higher-order vegetation radiative transfer model of Tor Vergata. Corn was selected as the subject of investigation, and a corn growth model was developed utilizing field data collected from the multifrequency and multi-angular ground-based microwave radiation experiment from the Soil Moisture Experiment in the Luan River (SMELR). Upon compilation of the simulation dataset of microwave emissions of the corn field, the effective scattering albedo across different channels were calculated using the Tor Vergata model. Results show that vertical polarization of the vegetation optical depth is more affected by incidence angle changes, while horizontal polarization exhibits lower variations in vegetation optical depth due to incidence angle adjustments. The channel dependence of vegetation optical depth can be described as the polarization dependence parameter (${C_P}$ C P ) and the frequency dependence parameter (${C_f}$ C f ). These two parameters enable the calculation of vegetation optical depth at any channel under three adjacent frequencies (L-band, C-band and X-band). The effective scattering albedo of vegetation does not vary significantly with vegetation height or angle. It primarily depends on frequency and polarization, showing an overall increasing trend with increasing frequency. The effective scattering albedo with vertical polarization is slightly higher than that with horizontal polarization at higher frequencies, while both are lower in the L-band. This investigation is helpful for understanding the vegetation effects on microwave emissions from soils, ultimately advancing the accuracy of large-scale soil moisture retrieval in vegetated areas. With the rapid global warming in recent decades, the Tibetan Plateau (TP) has suffered severe impacts, such as glacier retreat, glacial lake expansion, and permafrost degradation, which threaten the lives and properties of the local and downstream populations. Regional Reanalysis (RR) is vital for TP due to the limitations of observations. In this work, a 62-year (1961–2022) long atmospheric regional reanalysis with spatial resolution of 9 km (convective gray-zone scale) and temporal resolution of 1 hour over the TP (TPRR) was developed using the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model, combined with re-initialization method, spectral nudging (SN), and several optimizations. TPRR is forced by ERA5 at hourly intervals. TPRR outperforms ERA5, realistically capturing climatological characteristics and seasonal variations of precipitation and T2m (air temperature at 2m above ground level). Moreover, TPRR better reproduces the frequency and intensity of precipitation, as well as the diurnal cycle of precipitation. Radar at high frequency is a promising technique for fine-resolution snow water equivalent (SWE) mapping. In this paper, we extend the Bayesian-based Algorithm for SWE Estimation (BASE) from passive to active microwave (AM) application and test it using ground-based backscattering measurements at three frequencies (X and dual Ku bands; 10.2, 13.3, and 16.7 GHz), with VV polarization obtained at a 50° incidence angle from the Nordic Snow Radar Experiment (NoSREx) in Sodankylä, Finland. We assumed only an uninformative prior for snow microstructure, in contrast with an accurate prior required in previous studies. Starting from a biased monthly SWE prior from land surface model simulation, two-layer snow state variables and single-layer soil variables were iterated until their posterior distribution could stably reproduce the observed microwave signals. The observation model is the Microwave Emission Model of Layered Snowpacks 3 and Active (MEMLS3&a) based on the improved Born approximation. Results show that BASE-AM achieved an RMSE of ∼ 10 cm for snow depth and less than 30 mm for SWE, compared with the RMSE of ∼ 20 cm snow depth and ∼ 50 mm SWE from priors. Retrieval errors are significantly larger when BASE-AM is run using a single snow layer. The results support the potential of X- and Ku-band radar for SWE retrieval and show that the role of a precise snow microstructure prior in SWE retrieval may be substituted by an SWE prior from exterior sources. The Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau (QTP), which has a unique and severe environment, suffers from the absence of rainfall gauges in western arid land. Using different precipitation products in this region would easily lead to contradictory results. To evaluate nine fine-resolution precipitation products in the QTP, we propose a "down to top" methodology, based on water balance and drought chain, by forecasting two accuracy assessment indices—multi-year precipitation bias and precipitation correlation. We assessed the biases of all products in the Jinsha–Yalong, Yellow, Heihe, Yangtze, Yarlung Zangbo catchments and interior drainage areas. And we assessed gauge-based correlation of precipitation products, based on the correlations between precipitation product-based effective drought index (EDI), Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP)-based soil moisture anomaly, and the moderate-resolution imaging spectroradiometer (MODIS)-based normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) anomaly (R = 0.712, R = 0.36, and R = 0.785, respectively) for cross-sectional rainfall observations on the Tibetan Plateau in 2018. The results showed that ERA5-Land and IMERG merged precipitation dataset (EIMD) can efficiently close the water budget at the catchment scale. Moreover, the EIMD-based EDI exhibited the best performance in correlation with both the SMAP-based soil moisture anomaly and MODIS-based NDVI anomaly for the three main herbaceous species areas—Kobresia pygmaea meadow, Stipa purpurea steppe, and Carex moorcroftii steppe. Overall, we find that EIMD is the most accurate among the nine products. The annual average precipitation (2001–2018) was determined to be 568.16 mm in the QTP. Plant diseases pose significant threats to agricultural yields and are responsible for nearly 20 % of losses in total food production. Therefore, the rapid detection of plant pathogens is critically important for preventing the rapid development of plant diseases and minimizing crop damage. Raman spectroscopy (RS) has been shown to be effective for detecting living biological samples. Compared with traditional detection methods, RS is fast, sensitive, and non-destructive; it also does not require sample labeling. In this study, we used Laser tweezers Raman spectroscopy combined with convolutional neural networks to detect two closely related strains of bacteria, Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) and Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola (Xoc), exuded from bacteria-infected rice leaves. The accuracy of this technique was 97.5 %. For the application of RS in the field, we used the portable Raman spectrometer to detect mock-inoculated as well as Xoo- and Xoc-infected rice leaves at different disease courses. The identification accuracy via this technique was 87.02 % in the early stage, in which no obvious symptoms were apparent. This method also revealed spectral differences in rice leaves caused by the two bacteria, which could be leveraged for subsequent analysis of the molecular mechanism of infection.
