Background: Usefulness of hysteroscopic metroplasty to improve reproductive outcomes is controversial and debated among reproductive specialists and, consequently, patients., Methods: We performed a cross-sectional analysis to assess the quality, reliability, and level of misinformation in YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok videos about hysteroscopic metroplasty. Videos on each social network retrieved using "hysteroscopy" and "septate uterus" or "uterine septum" as keywords were assessed using Patient Education Materials Assessment Tool for audio-visual (PEMAT A/V) content, the modified DISCERN (mDISCERN), Global Quality Scale (GQS), Video Information and Quality Index (VIQI) and Misinformation assessment., Results: One hundred fifteen videos (47 from YouTube, 35 from TikTok, and 33 from Instagram) were included. Median PEMAT A/V Understandability and Actionability scores were 50.0 % (IQR: 0-63.3) and 20 % (IQR: 0.0-50.0). Actionability was higher YouTube relative to TikTok and Instagram (50.0 % [IQR: 0-75.0] vs. 0 % [IQR: 0-66.0]; p < 0.001 and 0 % [IQR: 0-33.0], p < 0.001), with no significant differences for Understandability. Median mDISCERN was 3 (IQR: 0-3), with higher score for YouTube compared to TikTok and Instagram (3 [IQR: 0-3] vs. 0 [IQR: 0-23], p < 0.001 and 1 [IQR 0-3.0], p < 0.001 respectively). VIQI showed low-level content (median 9; IQR: 4-19) and no differences among social media platforms. GQS was low (median 2 [IQR 1-4.5]), with no differences in subgroup analysis. Videos on YouTube (97.9 %) and TikTok (62.9 %) favored hysteroscopic metroplasty, while Instagram content was against in 63.6 % of cases (p < 0.001). While most videos were found to be either completely or partially accurate, significant differences in misinformation levels were observed across platforms, with YouTube exhibiting the lowest rate of inaccuracies compared to TikTok and Instagram. (8.5 % vs. 42.9 % and 36.4 %; p < 0.001, respectively)., Conclusion: Quality of social networks' videos on hysteroscopic metroplasty seems unsatisfactory, but with low levels of misinformation. YouTube and TikTok were more favorable than Instagram regarding the usefulness of metroplasty. Objective: Social networks share medical content with no peer-review or fact-checking. In the present study we aimed to assess the quality, reliability, and level of misinformation in TikTok videos about polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)., Methods: We performed a cross-sectional analysis of TikTok videos retrieved using "PCOS" as the search term and analyzed using patient education materials assessment tool for audio-visual content (PEMAT A/V), modified DISCERN (mDISCERN), global quality scale (GQS), video information and quality index (VIQI) and misinformation assessment were employed., Results: A total of 180 videos were included. Most videos were partially accurate (containing 25%-50% of false information) or uninformative (more than 50%) (56.7% and 6.6%, respectively) with a significantly higher proportion of inaccurate or uninformative videos from PCOS-patients than healthcare professionals (14.4% vs. 0%; P < 0.001) as well as for partially accurate videos (78.4% vs. 37.5%; P < 0.001). PEMAT A/V scores for understandability and actionability were 50% (interquartile range [IQR]: 33%-58%) and 25% (IQR: 25%-50%), respectively with significantly higher understandability for healthcare professionals (54% [IQR: 42%-71%] vs. 33% [IQR: 25%-50%], P < 0.001). Median mDISCERN was 2 (IQR: 1-3) (low degree of reliability), with videos by healthcare professionals scoring significantly higher than those by patients (2 [IQR: 2-3] vs. 1 [IQR: 0-2]; P = 0.001). Intermediate-low overall video quality was reported in VIQI with median score of 12 (IQR: 10-15) and significantly lower scores for patients (9 [IQR: 5-12] vs. 13 [IQR: 12-17]; P < 0.001). Similarly, median GQS score was overall intermediate for degree of usefulness (median 3 [IQR: 2-4]), but patient-created videos were of significantly lower quality (median 2 [IQR: 2-3] vs. 4 [IQR: 3-4]; P < 0.001)., Conclusion: PCOS-related videos on TikTok were mostly misinformative and of low quality and reliability. Healthcare professionals' videos were more informative with had higher quality compared to patient-created content. Identifying and addressing low-quality content is crucial for guiding future public health initiatives and improving the dissemination of trustworthy medical information on social networks., (© 2025 The Author(s). Background: Embryo implantation and early survival in a synchronized, receptive endometrium are critical for establishing a successful pregnancy, but uterine pathologies can present challenges to reproductive success by significantly impacting this complex process., Objectives: The purpose of this review was to analyze the impact of uterine pathologies on embryo implantation, early embryo survival, and finally on the development of infertility, with references to reproductive outcomes and the main evidence related to therapeutic strategies., Methods: The relevant publications were identified after queries of the following sources: PubMed, Google Scholar, Web of Science, and publishers' databases, complemented by a cross-check of the reference lists. We used a combination of the search terms "uterine pathology," "infertility," "embryo implantation," and "embryo survival" with terms relevant to the topic of each paragraph, such as "endometrial polyps (EPs)," "leiomyoma," "uterine malformations," "adenomyosis," and "intrauterine adhesions (IUAs).", Outcome: All articles describing the influence of each uterine pathology on embryo implantation/early survival were included, with a focus on the role of EPs, leiomyomas, uterine malformations, adenomyosis, and IUAs., Conclusions and Outlook: The exact influence of uterine diseases on the uterine-embryo crosstalk is unknown. Nevertheless, numerous molecular mechanisms have been proposed to explain some of the underlying processes. Tailored treatments for each specific disease may improve the endometrial milieu and, thus, reproductive outcomes. Future studies should aim to further understand the underlying molecular phenomena driving the development of these pathologies, how they may disrupt early embryo life stages, and the exact benefit of medical and surgical treatments on embryo survival., (© 2025 S. Purpose: To identify and analyze the main surgical parameters affecting the operative time of hysteroscopic fibroid resection., Methods: This retrospective observational study included 65 cases of outpatient hysteroscopic fibroid resection performed between March 2021 and May 2023 in outpatient office setting. Patients aged 18-50 with various indications such as infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, or abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) were included. The operative time, fibroid size, FIGO classification, and fibroid localization were recorded and analyzed using ANOVA, Chi-square test, and linear regression models., Results: The average operative duration for all surgeries was 557.41 (± 449.52) s. A significant correlation between fibroid size and operative time was found in FIGO 0 (p = 0.0003) and FIGO 1 (p < 0.0001) subgroups, with weaker correlation in FIGO II (p = 0.039). FIGO I surgeries took significantly longer than FIGO 0 (p = 0.044), and fundal fibroids were associated with longer operative times compared to posterior fibroids (p = 0.0329)., Conclusion: The size and FIGO classification of fibroids significantly influence operative time during hysteroscopic resection. Smaller and more accessible fibroids (FIGO 0 and 1) are resected faster than those embedded deeper in the uterine wall (FIGO 2). Detailed preoperative evaluation of fibroid characteristics can better predict operative time, aiding in patient preparation and optimized analgesia and perioperative planning as well as optimizing the use of operating theater. Further studies with larger sample sizes are recommended to validate these findings and explore additional influencing factors., Competing Interests: Declarations. Objective: To assess the quality, reliability, and level of misinformation in TikTok videos about hysteroscopy., Methods: A cross-sectional analysis of TikTok videos retrieved using "hysteroscopy" as search term was performed. Patient education materials assessment tool for audio-visual content (PEMAT A/V), the modified DISCERN (mDISCERN), global quality scale (GQS), video information and quality index (VIQI) and misinformation assessment were used., Results: Of three hundred videos captured, 156 were excluded and 144 were included. Most videos were partially accurate or uninformative (43.8% and 34.7%, respectively). Non-healthcare providers produced more inaccurate or uninformative videos than healthcare workers (51.1% vs 4.0%; P < 0.001). Compared to content by professionals, content by patients showed increased distrust towards gynecologists (11.7% vs 0%; P = 0.012) and increased incidence of anxiety and concern towards hysteroscopy (25.5% vs 2%; P < 0.001). PEMAT A/V scores for understandability and actionability were low at 42.9% (interquartile range [IQR]: 11.1-70) and 0% (IQR: 0-0), respectively. Understandability (P < 0.001) and actionability (P = 0.001) were higher for professionals' created content relative to patients' videos. Similarly, median mDISCERN score was low (1 [IQR 0-2]), with significantly higher score for healthcare professionals compared to patients (P < 0.001). Overall video quality was also low, with median VIQI and GQS score of 7 (IQR 4-11) and 1 (IQR 1-3), respectively, and significantly higher scores for healthcare workers' captions compared to patients' for both (P < 0.001 and P = 0.001, respectively)., Conclusion: TikTok videos' quality on hysteroscopy seems unsatisfactory and misinformative, with low understandability and actionability scores. Videos recorded by healthcare workers show higher quality and less misinformation than those by patients. Raising the awareness regarding the low quality of medical information on social media is crucial to increase future reliability and trustworthiness., (© 2024 The Author(s).
