The Snow Ablation Optimizer (SAO) is a powerful metaheuristic algorithm that emulates the process of snow sublimation and melting. Despite exhibiting competitive performance compared to classical algorithms in initial research, SAO still has certain limitations, including suboptimal convergence accuracy, inadequate population diversity, and premature convergence, particularly when faced with high-dimensional complex challenges. To address these limitations, this paper proposes a refined snow ablation optimizer featuring joint opposite selection and multi-strategy fusion (JMRSAO), which integrates three enhancement strategies. Firstly, a good point set opposition-based learning (GPSOL) approach is utilized to generate a population of high-quality individuals that are evenly distributed. This helps the algorithm converge quickly towards the appropriate search space. Next, in both exploration and exploitation phases, we introduce joint opposite selection (JOS) technology to effectively retain superior individuals for future iterations. This promotes information exchange among diverse individuals and establishes a strong balance between exploring new possibilities and exploiting existing knowledge. Furthermore, we incorporate the Powell mechanism (PM) to enhance local exploration and accelerate convergence towards improved solutions. The performance of JMRSAO is evaluated by comparing it with thirteen other metaheuristic algorithms on three benchmark experiments from IEEE CEC2005, IEEE CEC2017, IEEE CEC2019, and IEEE CEC2022 as well as six engineering problems. Experimental results demonstrate that JMRSAO effectively addresses the limitations of SAO and exhibits exceptional performance in solving various complex problems while showcasing its potential as an effective problem-solving tool.

Magnesium matrix composites are essential lightweight metal matrix composites, following aluminum matrix composites, with outstanding application prospects in automotive, aerospace lightweight and biomedical materials because of their high specific strength, low density and specific stiffness, good casting performance and rich resources. However, the inherent low plasticity and poor fatigue resistance of magnesium hamper its further application to a certain extent. Many researchers have tried many strengthening methods to improve the properties of magnesium alloys, while the relationship between wear resistance and plasticity still needs to be further improved. The nanoparticles added exhibit a good strengthening effect, especially the ceramic nanoparticles. Nanoparticle-reinforced magnesium matrix composites not only exhibit a high impact toughness, but also maintain the high strength and wear resistance of ceramic materials, effectively balancing the restriction between the strength and toughness. Therefore, this work aims to provide a review of the state of the art of research on the matrix, reinforcement, design, properties and potential applications of nano-reinforced phase-reinforced magnesium matrix composites (especially ceramic nanoparticle-reinforced ones). The conventional and potential matrices for the fabrication of magnesium matrix composites are introduced. The classification and influence of ceramic reinforcements are assessed, and the factors influencing interface bonding strength between reinforcements and matrix, regulation and design, performance and application are analyzed. Finally, the scope of future research in this field is discussed.

Results: Compared with the non-fatigue group, the FT3 level in fatigue group was lower (p<0.05). FT3 was negatively correlated with fatigue after 6 months (OR 0.257, p<0.05). After adjusting for confounding factors such as age and gender, low FT3 was a risk factor for fatigue in patients with COVID-19, (OR 0.225, p<0.05). And the FT3 is less than 2.47 mol/L, it is the best critical value for predicting long-term fatigue, with a sensitivity of 92.3% and a specificity of 48.1%. Conclusions: Most people still have fatigue 6 months after COVID-19 infection. The thermal safety of lithium-ion batteries has garnered significant attention due to its pivotal role in the field of new energy. In this work, a three-dimensional electrochemical-thermal coupling model based on the P2D model was established for predicting the thermal performance. The charge-discharge and temperature rise experiments via 18650 cylindrical Li[Ni0.6Co0.2Mn0.2]O2 / graphite batteries are designed to confirm the rationality of the model. The simulation results show that the highest temperature of the battery surface during discharging at 1 C and 4 C are 42.85 °C and 61.25 °C, and the experimental results are 42.50 °C and 62.85 °C, respectively. The electrode heat generation mainly comes from the reaction heat of cathode and anode during 1 C charge process, the maximum power is 1.2 W and 0.6 W, respectively. In the discharge process, the cathode dominates the reaction contribution of 1.02 W and the reaction heat power from the anode is only 0.016 W. The capacity of heat dissipation can be increased by enhancing the convective heat transfer coefficient and air velocity within a reasonable range. The oxidation behavior of SUS430 ferritic stainless steel is studied during isothermal oxidation at 1100 °C for 2 h under a mixture of 10, 30, and 50% water vapor and air, and oxidation kinetics curves are drawn. The surface morphology and phase composition of oxide scale are analyzed using X‐Ray diffractometer, scanning electron microscope, and energy dispersive spectrometer. The oxidation kinetic curves under three different humidities are S‐shaped and include three stages: induction period, acceleration period, and deceleration period. The controlling steps under 10% water vapor and air are nucleation and growth, while under 30% and 50% water vapor and air are both phase boundary control reactions. The induction period becomes shorter and the breakaway oxidation occurs earlier with increasing water vapor content. The structure of oxide scale produced is layered, with the outer layer being iron oxide and the inner layer being mainly the Fe–Cr spinel phase. The volatilization of Cr and the growth stress of the Cr2O3 layer cause the formation of nodules, and a large number of cracks are generated in oxide scale. The cracks provide diffusion paths, accelerating the diffusion of Fe ions and electrons, as well as the erosion of the substrate. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aged patients often suffer poorer neurological recovery than younger patients after traumatic brain injury (TBI), but the mechanisms underlying this difference remain unclear. Here, we demonstrate abnormal myelopoiesis characterized by increased neutrophil and classical monocyte output but impaired nonclassical patrolling monocyte population in aged patients with TBI as well as in an aged murine TBI model. Retrograde and anterograde nerve tracing indicated that increased adrenergic input through the central amygdaloid nucleus-bone marrow axis drives abnormal myelopoiesis after TBI in a β2-adrenergic receptor-dependent manner, which is notably enhanced in aged mice after injury. Selective blockade of β2-adrenergic receptors rebalances abnormal myelopoiesis and improves the outcomes of aged mice after TBI. We therefore demonstrate that increased β2-adrenergic input-driven abnormal myelopoiesis exacerbates post-TBI neuroinflammation in the aged, representing a mechanism underlying the poorer recovery of aged patients and that blockade of β2-adrenergic receptor is a potential approach to promote neurological recovery after TBI. General anesthetic agents can impact brain function through interactions with neurons and their effects on glial cells. Oligodendrocytes perform essential roles in the central nervous system, including myelin sheath formation, axonal metabolism, and neuroplasticity regulation. They are particularly vulnerable to the effects of general anesthetic agents resulting in impaired proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Neurologists are increasingly interested in the effects of general anesthetic agents on oligodendrocytes. These agents not only act on the surface receptors of oligodendrocytes to elicit neuroinflammation through modulation of signaling pathways, but also disrupt metabolic processes and alter the expression of genes involved in oligodendrocyte development and function. In this review, we summarize the effects of general anesthetic agents on oligodendrocytes. We anticipate that future research will continue to explore these effects and develop strategies to decrease the incidence of adverse reactions associated with the use of general anesthetic agents.

Background: Chinese nurses working with immense stress may have issues with burnout during COVID-19 regular prevention and control. There were a few studies investigating status of burnout and associated factors among Chinese nurses. However, the relationships remained unclear., Objectives: To investigate status and associated factors of nurses' burnout during COVID-19 regular prevention and control., Methods: 784 nurses completed questionnaires including demographics, Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7, Patient Health Questionnaire-9, Insomnia Severity Index, Impact of Event Scale-revised, Perceived Social Support Scale, Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, General Self-efficacy Scale and Maslach Burnout Inventory., Results: 310 (39.5%), 393 (50.1%) and 576 (73.5%) of respondents were at high risk of emotional exhaustion (EE), depersonalization (DP) and reduced personal accomplishment (PA). The risk of EE, DP and reduced PA were moderate, high and high. Nurses with intermediate and senior professional rank and title and worked >40 h every week had lower scores in EE. Those worked in low-risk department reported lower scores in PA. Anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), self-efficacy and social support were influencing factors of EE and DP, while social support and resilience were associated factors of PA., Conclusion: Chinese nurses' burnout during COVID-19 regular prevention and control was serious.
