This article presents a review on the use of plants in the treatment of scars in diabetic patients. Diabetic patients have difficulty in healing due to increased blood sugar levels, which compromises tissue healing. The study reviewed articles that used plant extracts to treat chronic diabetes wounds between 1991 and 2019. Four groups of plants with positive effects on treatment were identified, including gene regulation, cell proliferation, reduction of inflammation, stimulation of angiogenesis and collagen deposition, as well as reduction of sugar levels. It is concluded that plant extracts are a promising option for the treatment of difficult healing wounds in diabetics. [Extracted from the article]
