We generalize Gr\"unbaum's classical inequality in convex geometry to curved spaces with nonnegative Ricci curvature, precisely, to $\mathrm{RCD}(0,N)$-spaces with $N \in (1,\infty)$ as well as weighted Riemannian manifolds of $\mathrm{Ric}_N \ge 0$ for $N \in (-\infty,-1) \cup \{\infty\}$. Our formulation makes use of the isometric splitting theorem; given a convex set $\Omega$ and the Busemann function associated with any straight line, the volume of the intersection of $\Omega$ and any sublevel set of the Busemann function that contains a barycenter of $\Omega$ is bounded from below in terms of $N$. We also extend this inequality beyond uniform distributions on convex sets. 3. Unusual strong ferromagnetism in site-ordered cubic Laves phase compound LuInCo$_4$ with Co-pyrochlore lattice

We have successfully synthesized single crystals of the site-ordered cubic (C15b) Laves phase compound LuInCo$_4$ with the Co-pyrochlore sublattice for the first time. LuInCo$_4$ undergoes a ferromagnetic transition at 306 K and has a saturation moment of 3.43 $\mu_{\rm{B}}$/f.u. at 5 K. The strongly ferromagnetic nature was verified by DFT calculations, suggesting that Co-3$d$ flat bands near the Fermi level induce the spin polarization. The magnetization is isotropic above $\sim$100 K, saturates most easily in the [100] direction at low temperatures. In this anisotropic ferromagnetic state, the magnetization undergoes a metamagnetic transition in the [111] direction. Our results suggest that LuInCo$_4$ is a new strong but unusual itinerant electron ferromagnet, which deserves further study as a pyrochlore metal., Comment: 11 pages, 12 figures

We successfully synthesized samples of La$_{3}$Ni$_{2}$O$_{7+\delta}$ ($\delta = -0.50$, $-0.16$, $0.00$, $+0.01$, and $+0.12$) and measured the resistance under extremely high pressures using a diamond anvil cell to establish the electronic phase diagram. A Mott insulating state appears at $\delta = -0.50$, where all Ni ions are divalent. With increasing oxygen content, superconductivity appears at $\delta = 0.00$ and higher, above approximately 25 GPa, passing through Anderson localization at $\delta = -0.16$. The superconducting transition temperature $T_{\mathrm{c}}$ decreases with increasing pressures for both $\delta = 0.00$ and $+0.12$, with the pressure dependence of $T_{\mathrm{c}}$ being much stronger in the latter than in the former.

In this paper, we investigate the Bartholdi zeta function on a connected simple digraph with $n_V$ vertices and $n_E$ edges. We derive a functional equation for the Bartholdi zeta function $\zeta_G(q,u)$ on a regular graph $G$ with respect to the bump parameter $u$. We also find an equivalence between the Bartholdi zeta function with a specific value of $u$ and the Ihara zeta function at $u=0$. We determine bounds of the critical strip of $\zeta_G(q,u)$ for a general graph. If $G$ is a $(t+1)$-regular graph, the bounds are saturated and $q=(1-u)^{-1}$ and $q=(t+u)^{-1}$ are the poles at the boundaries of the critical strip for $u\ne 1, -t$. When $G$ is the regular graph and the spectrum of the adjacency matrix satisfies a certain condition, $\zeta_G(q,u)$ satisfies the so-called Riemann hypothesis. For $u \ne 1$, $q=\pm(1-u)^{-1}$ are poles of $\zeta_G(q,u)$ unless $G$ is tree. Although the order of the pole at $q=(1-u)^{-1}$ is $n_E-n_V+1$ if $u\ne u_* \equiv 1-\frac{n_E}{n_V}$, it is enhanced at $u=u_*$. In particular, if the Moore-Penrose inverse of the incidence matrix $L^+$ and the degree vector $\vec{d}$ satisfy the condition $|L^+ \vec{d}|^2\ne n_E$, the order of the pole at $q=(1-u)^{-1}$ increases only by one at $u=u_*$. The order of the pole at $q=-(1-u)^{-1}$ coincides with that at $q=(1-u)^{-1}$ if $G$ is bipartite and is $n_E-n_V$ otherwise., Comment: 30 pages

We present results from a search for X-ray/gamma-ray counterparts of gravitational-wave (GW) candidates from the third observing run (O3) of the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA (LVK) network using the Swift Burst Alert Telescope (Swift-BAT). The search includes 636 GW candidates received in low latency, 86 of which have been confirmed by the offline analysis and included in the third cumulative Gravitational-Wave Transient Catalogs (GWTC-3). Targeted searches were carried out on the entire GW sample using the maximum--likelihood NITRATES pipeline on the BAT data made available via the GUANO infrastructure. We do not detect any significant electromagnetic emission that is temporally and spatially coincident with any of the GW candidates. We report flux upper limits in the 15-350 keV band as a function of sky position for all the catalog candidates. For GW candidates where the Swift-BAT false alarm rate is less than 10$^{-3}$ Hz, we compute the GW--BAT joint false alarm rate. Finally, the derived Swift-BAT upper limits are used to infer constraints on the putative electromagnetic emission associated with binary black hole mergers., Comment: 50 pages, 10 figures, 4 tables

Insect-scale micro-aerial vehicles, especially, lightweight, flapping-wing robots, are becoming increasingly important for safe motion sensing in spatially constrained environments such as living spaces. However, yaw control using flapping wings is fundamentally more difficult than using rotating wings. In this study, an insect-scale, tailless robot with four paired tilted flapping wings (weighing 1.52 g) to enable yaw control was fabricated. It benefits from the simplicity of a directly driven wing actuator with no transmission and a lift control signal; however, it still has an offset in the lift force. Therefore, an adaptive controller was designed to alleviate the offset. Numerical experiments confirm that the proposed controller outperforms the linear quadratic integral controller. Finally, in a tethered and controlled demonstration flight, the yaw drift was suppressed by the wing-tilting arrangement and the proposed controller. The simple structure drive system demonstrates the potential for future controlled flights of battery-powered, tailless, flapping-wing robots weighing less than 10 grams., Comment: Under review at IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters. 8 pages

We study the major merger fraction along the massive galaxy quenching channel (traced with rest-frame $\mathrm{NUV}-r$ color) at $z=$ 0.2-0.7, aiming to examine the Cosmic Web Detachment (CWD) scenario of galaxy quenching. In this scenario, the major merger fraction is expected to be high in green valley galaxies as compared with those in star-forming and quiescent galaxies of similar stellar mass. We used photometry in the E-COSMOS field to select 1491 (2334) massive ($M_\ast>10^{9.5}$ $M_\odot$) galaxies with $m_i<22$ mag ($m_z<22$ mag) at $z=$ 0.2-0.4 ($z=$ 0.4-0.7) in the rest-frame color range of $0.8

9. Feasibility and Reliability of the Pandemic-Adapted Online-Onsite Hybrid Graduation OSCE in Japan

- Abstract
Objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) is widely used to assess medical students' clinical skills. Virtual OSCEs were used in place of in-person OSCEs during the COVID-19 pandemic; however, their reliability is yet to be robustly analyzed. By applying generalizability (G) theory, this study aimed to evaluate the reliability of a hybrid OSCE, which admixed in-person and online methods, and gain insights into improving OSCEs' reliability. During the 2020-2021 hybrid OSCEs, one examinee, one rater, and a vinyl mannequin for physical examination participated onsite, and a standardized simulated patient (SP) for medical interviewing and another rater joined online in one virtual breakout room on an audiovisual conferencing system. G-coefficients and 95% confidence intervals of the borderline score, namely border zone (BZ), under the standard 6-station, 2-rater, and 6-item setting were calculated. G-coefficients of in-person (2017-2019) and hybrid OSCEs (2020-2021) under the standard setting were estimated to be 0.624, 0.770, 0.782, 0.759, and 0.823, respectively. The BZ scores were estimated to be 2.43-3.57, 2.55-3.45, 2.59-3.41, 2.59-3.41, and 2.51-3.49, respectively, in the score range from 1 to 6. Although hybrid OSCEs showed reliability comparable to in-person OSCEs, they need further improvement as a very high-stakes examination. In addition to increasing clinical vignettes, having more proficient online/on-demand raters and/or online SPs for medical interviews could improve the reliability of OSCEs. Reliability can also be ensured through supplementary examination and by increasing the number of online raters for a small number of students within the BZs.

The superconducting transition temperatures, $T_{\mathrm{c}}$, of La$_{4}$Ni$_{3}$O$_{10+\delta}$($\delta$ = 0.04 and -0.01) were determined under various pressures up to 124.9 GPa by electrical resistance measurements with a diamond anvil cell. $T_{\mathrm{c}}$ exhibits a strong dependence on oxygen content within the pressure range of approximately 20 GPa and 80 GPa. At 48.0 GPa, $T_{\mathrm{c}}$ of La$_{4}$Ni$_{3}$O$_{10.04}$ peaks at 36 K, marking the highest $T_{\mathrm{c}}$ reported thus far., Comment: to be published in J. Phys. Soc. Jpn

Thermal switches, which electrically turn heat flow on and off, have attracted attention as thermal management devices. Electrochemical reduction/oxidation switches the thermal conductivity (\k{appa}\) of active metal oxide films. The performance of the previously proposed electrochemical thermal switches is low; on/off \k{appa}\-ratio is mostly less than 5 and \k{appa}\-switching width is less than 5 W/mK. We used CeO2 thin film as the active layer deposited on a solid electrolyte YSZ substrate. When the CeO2 thin film was reduced once (off-state) and then oxidized (on-state), \k{appa}\ was about 2.2 W/mK in the most reduced state, and \k{appa}\ increased with oxidation to 12.5 W/mK (on-state). This reduction (off-state)/oxidation (on-state) cycle was repeated 100 times and the average value of \k{appa}\ was 2.2 W/mK after reduction (off-state) and 12.5 W/mK after oxidation (on-state). The on/off \k{appa}\-ratio was 5.8 and \k{appa}\-switching width was 10.3 W/mK. Thermal transistors that switch the thermal conductivity (\k{appa}) of the active layers are attracting increasing attention as thermal management devices. For electrochemical thermal transistors, several transition metal oxides (TMOs) have been proposed as active layers. After electrochemical redox treatment, the crystal structure of the TMO is modulated, which results in the \k{appa} switching. However, the \k{appa} switching width is still small (< 4 W/mK). In this study, we demonstrate that LaNiOx-based solid-state electrochemical thermal transistors have a \k{appa} switching width of 4.3 W/mK. Fully oxidised LaNiO3 (on state) has a \k{appa} of 6.0 W/mK due to the large contribution of electron thermal conductivity (\k{appa}ele, 3.1 W/mK). In contrast, reduced LaNiO2.72 (off state) has a \k{appa} of 1.7 W/mK because the phonons are scattered by the oxygen vacancies. The LaNiOx-based electrochemical thermal transistor exhibits excellent cyclability of \k{appa} and the crystalline lattice of LaNiOx. 14. Comparing quantum fluctuations in the spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ and spin-$1$ XXZ Heisenberg models on square and honeycomb lattices

We present a detailed investigation of the XXZ Heisenberg model for spin-$1/2$ and spin-$1$ systems on square and honeycomb lattices. Utilizing the density-matrix renormalization group (DMRG) method, complemented by Spiral Boundary Conditions (SBC) for mapping two-dimensional (2D) clusters onto one-dimensional (1D) chains, we meticulously explore the evolution of staggered magnetization and spin gaps across a broad spectrum of easy-axis anisotropies. Our study reveals that, despite the lower site coordination number of honeycomb lattice, which intuitively suggests increased quantum fluctuations in its N\'eel phase compared to the square lattice, the staggered magnetization in the honeycomb structure exhibits only a marginal reduction. Furthermore, our analysis demonstrates that the dependence of staggered magnetization on the XXZ anisotropy $\Delta$, except in close proximity to $\Delta=1$, aligns with series expansion predictions up to the 12th order. Notably, for the $S=1/2$ honeycomb lattice, deviations from the 10th order series expansion predictions near the isotropic Heisenberg limit emphasize the critical influence of quantum fluctuations on the spin excitation in its N\'eel state. Additionally, our findings are numerically consistent with the singular behavior of the spin gap near the isotropic Heisenberg limit as forecasted by spin-wave theory. Transparent oxide semiconductors (TOSs) based thin-film transistors (TFTs) that exhibit higher field effect mobility (uFE) are highly required toward the realization of next-generation displays. Among numerous types of TOS-TFTs, In2O3-based TFTs are the front-running candidate because they exhibit the highest uFE ~100 cm2/Vs. However, the device operation of In2O3 TFTs is unreliable; a large voltage shift occurs especially when negative gate bias is applied due to adsorption/desorption of gas molecules. Although passivation of the TFTs is used to overcome such instability, previously proposed passivation materials did not improve the reliability. Here, we show that the In2O3 TFTs passivated with Y2O3 and Er2O3 films are highly reliable and do not show threshold voltage shifts when applying gate bias. We applied positive and negative gate bias to the In2O3 TFTs passivated with various insulating oxides and found that only the In2O3 TFTs passivated with Y2O3 and Er2O3 films did not exhibit threshold voltage shifts. We observed that only the Y2O3 grew heteroepitaxially on the In2O3 crystal. This would be the origin of the high reliability of the In2O3 TFTs passivated with Y2O3 and Er2O3 films. Focusing on continuous model learning through continuous updates, we investigate CSI-Imager's adaptability in dynamically changing settings, specifically transitioning from an office to an industrial environment. Unlike traditional approaches that may require retraining for new environments, our experimental study aims to validate the potential of CSI-guided imaging to maintain accurate imaging performance through Continuous Learning (CL). By conducting experiments across different scenarios and settings, this work contributes to understanding the limitations and capabilities of existing CSI-guided imaging systems in adapting to new environmental contexts.

17. Effects of neck and nuclear orientations on the mass drift in heavy ion collisions

We clarified that the fusion hindrance in heavy ion collisions is caused by the expansion of the neck bridge at the early stage of collision [Phys. Rev. C 108, 014612 (2023)]; however, our discussion was limited to the trajectory analysis. To get a reliable fusion cross section, it is important to understand the fusion process connecting with multinucleon transfer and also the process depending on the target orientation in detail. Especially, the effects of target orientation on the multinucleon transfer process have not been discussed so far in our model. First, we investigate precisely the start time of the neck expansion relevant to the mass transfer. The main aims of this paper are to discuss the mass drift in the collision with the different target orientations within the dynamical approach in the reaction 32S + 232Th. The orientation effects are incorporated within the framework of the Langevin equation. The start time of the neck expansion was presumed to be 10 zs by analysis in several entrance channels. By taking account of the target nuclear orientation, a strong mass-angle correlation was obtained which is compatible with the experimental data. Not only ``delayed relaxation'' of the neck but also the nuclear orientation effects have an important role in the strong correlation between fragment mass and its emitting angle. The mass evolution toward mass symmetry is slower than the standard mass drift mode assuming an exponential-type function. Particularly, the mass drift of the tip collision follows the slow mass drift mode assuming a Fermi-type function rather than an exponential-type function, which is related to the different features of the maximum neck cross-sectional area in the sticking process., Comment: Published in PRC on 11 March 2024. 13 pages, 11 figures

We examine the fundamental Kazakov-Migdal (FKM) model on a generic graph, whose partition function is represented by the Ihara zeta function weighted by unitary matrices. The FKM model becomes unstable in the critical strip of the Ihara zeta function. We discover a duality between small and large couplings, associated with the functional equation of the Ihara zeta function for regular graphs. Although the duality is not precise for irregular graphs, we show that the effective action in the large coupling region can be represented by a summation of all possible Wilson loops on the graph similar to that in the small coupling region. We estimate the phase structure of the FKM model both in the small and large coupling regions by comparing it with the Gross-Witten-Wadia (GWW) model. We prove the integral Varadhan short-time formula for non-linear heat flow on measured Finsler manifolds. To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first result establishing a Varadhan-type formula for non-linear semigroups. We do not assume the reversibility of the metric, and the distance function can be asymmetric. Within this generality, we reveal that the probabilistic interpretation is well-suited for our formula; the probability that a particle starting from a set $A$ can be found in another set $B$ describes the distance from $A$ to $B$. Among the various candidates for dark matter (DM), ultralight vector DM can be probed by laser interferometric gravitational wave detectors through the measurement of oscillating length changes in the arm cavities. In this context, KAGRA has a unique feature due to differing compositions of its mirrors, enhancing the signal of vector DM in the length change in the auxiliary channels. Here we present the result of a search for $U(1)_{B-L}$ gauge boson DM using the KAGRA data from auxiliary length channels during the first joint observation run together with GEO600. By applying our search pipeline, which takes into account the stochastic nature of ultralight DM, upper bounds on the coupling strength between the $U(1)_{B-L}$ gauge boson and ordinary matter are obtained for a range of DM masses. While our constraints are less stringent than those derived from previous experiments, this study demonstrates the applicability of our method to the lower-mass vector DM search, which is made difficult in this measurement by the short observation time compared to the auto-correlation time scale of DM., Comment: 20 pages, 5 figures

The La-Co co-substituted magnetoplumbite-type (M-type) ferrites $A$Fe$_{12}$O$_{19}$ ($A$ = Ca, Sr and Ba, ion sizes Ca$^{2+}$ $<$ Sr$^{2+}$ $<$ Ba$^{2+}$) with Co compositions around 0.2 have been subjected to $^{59}$Co-NMR. The results show that Co occupies the 4f$_1$, 2a and 12k sites, and that the smaller the $A$ ion, the more Co tends to occupy the 4f$_1$ minority spin site, which is effective in enhancing both uniaxial anisotropy and magnetisation. First-principles total energy calculations based on density functional theory (DFT) of undoped $A$Fe$_{12}$O$_{19}$ and a supercell ($2 \times 2 \times 1$ of the unit cell) in which 1/96 of Fe$^{3+}$ is replaced by Co$^{2+}$ were performed to predict the stable structure and Co occupancy sites. The results show that regardless of $A$, Co is most stable when it occupies the 4f$_1$ site, followed by the 2a and 12k sites with energy differences on the order of 100 meV, and Co practically does not occupy the 2b and 4f$_2$ sites. As the $A$ ion becomes smaller, the energy difference when Co occupies each Fe site tends to increase, and the Co occupancy of the 4f$_1$ site also increases. The site selectivity of Co can be roughly explained as a result of the difference in uniaxial strain along the $c$-axis associated with the difference in $A$. However, the influence of the $A$ ion differs between the R and S blocks and the local strain also has a secondary effect on the Co distribution. Based on these results, the guidelines for improving the performance (anisotropy and magnetisation) of La-Co co-substituted M-type ferrite magnets with a limited amount of Co can be summarised as follows: It is effective to select as small $A$ ions as possible and to post-anneal at low temperature or cool slowly to concentrate Co at the 4f$_1$ site in tetrahedral coordination., Comment: 33 pages, 9 figures

44. The Variability of the Broad Line Profiles of SDSS J1430+2303

SDSS J1430+2303 has been argued to possess a supermassive black hole binary which is predicted to merge within a few months or three years from January 2022. We conducted follow-up optical spectroscopic observations of SDSS J1430+2303 with KOOLS-IFU on Seimei Telescope in May, June, and July 2022, and April 2023. The observed spectrum around $\mathrm{H}\mathrm{\alpha}$ shows a central broad component $\sim 10^3\ \mathrm{km\ s^{-1}}$ blueshifted from the narrow H$\mathrm{\alpha}$ line as well as the broader double-peaked component with a separation of $\sim\pm 5\times10^3\ \mathrm{km\ s^{-1}}$, similar to the spectrum reported in January 2022. We investigate the variability of the complex broad $\mathrm{H}\mathrm{\alpha}$ emission line relative to the continuum over the observation period. The continuum-normalized relative flux of the central broad component shows the increasing trend from May to July 2022 which is interpreted to be caused by the decrease of the continuum as also supported by damping of the X-ray, UV, and optical light curves observed for the same period. From July 2022 to April 2023, however, the central broad component decreased significantly. For the relative flux of the broader double-peaked component, on the other hand, no significant change appears at any epoch. These results suggest that the complicated broad line profile of SDSS J1430+2303 is generated from at least two distinct regions. While the central broad component originates from a broad line region, the broader double-peaked component arises in the vicinity of the continuum source., Comment: Published in Publications of the Astronomical Society of Japan. 6 pages, 3 figures

Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
Isomer spectroscopy of heavy neutron-rich nuclei beyond the N=126 closed shell has been performed for the first time at the Radioactive Isotope Beam Factory of the RIKEN Nishina Center. New millisecond isomers have been identified at low excitation energies, 985.3(19) keV in 213Tl and 874(5) keV in 215Tl. The measured half-lives of 1.34(5) ms in 213Tl and 3.0(3) ms in 215Tl suggest spins and parities 11/2- with the single proton-hole configuration h11/2 as leading component. They are populated via E1 transitions by the decay of higher-lying isomeric states with proposed spin and parity 17/2+, interpreted as arising from a single s1/2 proton hole coupled to the 8+ seniority isomer in the (A+1)Pb cores. The lowering of the 11/2- states is ascribed to an increase of the h11/2 proton effective single-particle energy as the second g9/2 orbital is filled by neutrons, owing to a significant reduction of the proton-neutron monopole interaction between the h11/2 and g9/2 orbitals. The new ms-isomers provide the first experimental observation of shell evolution in the almost unexplored N>126 nuclear region below doubly-magic 208Pb., Comment: 9 pages, 3 figures, 1 table
