- Abstract
Several subspecies and forms of
Haliotis virginea Gmelin, 1791 have been recognised, with intergrading variants between many of them. Published genetic data recovered none of the named subspecies as both monophyletic and significantly divergent from one another. Conversely, specimens previously referred toH. virginea from Manawatāwhi Three Kings Islands formed a strongly supported, highly divergent, monophyletic clade, herein described asHaliotis pirimoana n. sp. This species differs subtly but consistently in having finer and more numerous spiral threads thanH. virginea at an equivalent stage of growth.Haliotis crispata A. Gould, 1847,H. gibba R.A. Philippi, 1846,H. huttoni Filhol, 1880,H. virginea morioria A.W.B. Powell, 1938, andH. virginea stewartae M. Jones & B. Owen, 2004 are interpreted as synonyms ofH. virginea . Neotypes are designated forH. crispata andH. huttoni . ZooBank article LSID: urn:lsid:zoobank.org:pub:C0F24F1D-E531-40A7-AAB6-932086847DD7 [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

- Abstract
The generic assignment of ‘
Broderipia’ eximia has been problematic in the past, and here we propose a new trochid genusAkoyazara n. gen. for it and compare this withBroderipia . The type species of both genera have limpet-shaped shells, but they differ from each other in shell height, external shell sculpture, shell colour pattern, length of epipodial tentacles, shape of the cutting edge of the radular teeth, the presence or absence of a sensory organ at the base of each epipodial tentacle and a genitalia-like projection on the right side of the head. The strong radial ribs on the external shell surface ofAkoyazara eximia are suggested to be an adaptation to highly exposed shores. The depressed limpet-shaped shell ofBroderipia iridescens is likely to be adaptive, allowing access to narrow spaces in pits carved from rock, which have been bored and occupied by the sea urchins with which they live.Broderipia nitidissima is also transferred toAkoyazara (n. comb.), and this new genus currently includes only two species. New lectotypes of the type species ofBroderipia ,B. rosea andB. iridescens are designated herein based on specimens in the collection of the Natural History Museum, London. COVID-19 , *FORCED expiratory volume , *COVID-19 pandemic , *CYSTIC fibrosis , *BODY mass index - Abstract
• Over 7000 cases of COVID-19 in CF were reported from 47 countries between January 2020 and December 2021. • Increases in infection rates aligned with emergence of COVID-19 variants. • There was no clinically meaningful change in lung function or BMI trajectory following infection. Factors associated with severe COVID-19 infection have been identified; however, the impact of infection on longer-term outcomes is unclear. The objective of this study was to examine the impact of COVID-19 infection on the trajectory of lung function and nutritional status in people with cystic fibrosis (pwCF). This is a retrospective global cohort study of pwCF who had confirmed COVID-19 infection diagnosed between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2021. Forced expiratory volume in one second percent predicted (ppFEV 1) and body mass index (BMI) twelve months prior to and following a diagnosis of COVID-19 were recorded. Change in mean ppFEV 1 and BMI were compared using a t -test. A linear mixed-effects model was used to estimate change over time and to compare the rate of change before and after infection. A total of 6,500 cases of COVID-19 in pwCF from 33 countries were included for analysis. The mean difference in ppFEV 1 pre- and post-infection was 1.4 %, (95 % CI 1.1, 1.7). In those not on modulators, the difference in rate of change pre- and post-infection was 1.34 %, (95 % CI -0.88, 3.56) per year (p = 0.24) and -0.74 % (-1.89, 0.41) per year (p = 0.21) for those on elexacaftor/tezacaftor/ivacaftor. No clinically significant change was noted in BMI or BMI percentile before and after COVID-19 infection. No clinically meaningful impact on lung function and BMI trajectory in the year following infection with COVID-19 was identified. This work highlights the ability of the global CF community to unify and address critical issues facing pwCF. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
