Debate is ongoing on the efficacy of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) for myalgic encephalomyelitis or chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS). With an individual patient data (IPD) meta-analysis we investigated whether the effect of CBT varied by patient characteristics. These included post-exertional malaise (PEM), a central feature of ME/CFS according to many. We searched for randomized controlled trials similar with respect to comparison condition, outcomes and treatment-protocol. Moderation on fatigue severity (Checklist Individual Strength, subscale fatigue severity), functional impairment (Sickness Impact Profile-8) and physical functioning (Short Form-36, subscale physical functioning) was investigated using linear mixed model analyses and interaction tests. PROSPERO (CRD42022358245). Data from eight trials (n = 1298 patients) were pooled. CBT showed beneficial effects on fatigue severity (β = −11.46, 95% CI −15.13 to −7.79); p < 0.001, functional impairment (β = −448.40, 95% CI −625.58 to −271.23); p < 0.001; and physical functioning (β = 9.64, 95% CI 3.30 to 15.98); p < 0.001. The effect of CBT on fatigue severity varied by age (p interaction = 0.003), functional impairment (p interaction = 0.045) and physical activity pattern (p interaction = 0.027). Patients who were younger, reported less functional impairments and had a fluctuating activity pattern benefitted more. The effect on physical functioning varied by self-efficacy (p interaction = 0.025), with patients with higher self-efficacy benefitting most. No other moderators were found. It can be concluded from this study that CBT for ME/CFS can lead to significant reductions of fatigue, functional impairment, and physical limitations. There is no indication patients meeting different case definitions or reporting additional symptoms benefit less from CBT. Background: The development and potential of artificial intelligence (AI) is remarkable. Its application in all medical disciplines, including rheumatology, is attracting attention. To what extent AI is already used in clinical routine in rheumatology is unknown. In addition, the perceived barriers, potentials, and expectations regarding AI by rheumatologists have not yet been studied., Objectives: To examine the current usage and perceived barriers and facilitators of AI, including large language models (LLMs), among rheumatologists., Design: National, observational, non-interventional, and cross-sectional web-based study., Methods: A web-based survey was developed by the Working Group Young Rheumatology (AGJR) of the German Society for Rheumatology. The survey was distributed at the Congress of the German Society for Rheumatology and via social media, QR code, and email from August 30 until November 4, 2023., Results: Responses from 172 rheumatologists (55% female; mean age 43 years) were analyzed. The majority stated that they did not previously use AI (73%) in their daily practice. Eighty-eight percent of rheumatologists rated their AI knowledge as low to intermediate and 84% would welcome dedicated training on LLMs. The majority of rheumatologists anticipated AI implementation to improve patient care (60%) and reduce daily workload (62%). Especially for diagnosis (73%), writing medical reports (70%), and data analysis (70%), rheumatologists reported a potential positive benefit of AI. Main AI concerns addressed the responsibility for medical decisions (64%) and data security (58%)., Conclusion: Overall, the results indicate that rheumatologists currently have little AI knowledge and make very little use of AI in clinical routine. Background: CD19-targeting chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy has shown remarkable outcomes in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. The effects of CD19-targeting CAR T cells on organ manifestations in patients with systemic sclerosis have yet to be characterised. B cells have a central role in the pathogenesis of systemic sclerosis. We present a detailed analysis of the effects of CD19-targeting CAR T-cell therapy in patients with systemic sclerosis., Methods: Six patients with severe diffuse systemic sclerosis with an insufficient response to at least two treatments were consecutively recruited at the Department of Internal Medicine 3, University Hospital Erlangen (Erlangen, Germany) to receive CD19-targeting CAR T-cell treatment (1 × 10 6 CAR T cells per kg bodyweight). Events were predefined by progression of interstitial lung disease, onset of congestive heart failure, onset of renal failure, onset of arterial hypertension, or initiation of new immunosuppressive or antifibrotic therapy. Event-free time or treatment intensification after study entry was the primary outcome. Key secondary outcomes included changes in the modified Rodnan Skin Score (mRSS), imaging (a component of the assessment of lung fibrosis), laboratory assessments, patient-reported outcomes, and a modified version of the American College of Rheumatology Composite Response Index in Systemic Sclerosis (ACR-CRISS), assessed at baseline, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months., Findings: Between April 20, 2022, and Nov 8, 2023, six patients with severe diffuse systemic sclerosis (median age 42 years [IQR 36-53]; four men and two women; all White European) were recruited and received CD19-targeted CAR T-cell therapy. The median follow-up time was 487 days (IQR 342-585). No events occurred within the observational period. Probability of improvement in the ACR-CRISS score increased to a median of 100% (IQR 100-100) at 6 months. Median mRSS decreased by 31% (IQR 29-38), corresponding to a median of 8 points (IQR 7-13) within 100 days. The extent of disease on CT scan decreased by a median of 4% (IQR 3-4) due to reduction of ground-glass opacities while the reticular pattern remained stable. An adaptive catalytic system for selective hydrogenation was developed exploiting the H 2  + CO 2   ⇔  HCOOH equilibrium for reversible, rapid, and robust on/off switch of the ketone hydrogenation activity of ruthenium nanoparticles (Ru NPs). The catalyst design was based on mechanistic studies and DFT calculations demonstrating that adsorption of formic acid to Ru NPs on silica results in surface formate species that prevent C═O hydrogenation. Ru NPs were immobilized on readily accessible silica supports modified with guanidinium-based ionic liquid phases (Ru@SILP GB ) to generate in situ sufficient amounts of HCOOH when CO 2 was introduced into the H 2 feed gas for switching off ketone hydrogenation while maintaining the activity for hydrogenation of olefinic and aromatic C═C bonds. Upon shutting down the CO 2 supply, the C═O hydrogenation activity was restored in real time due to the rapid decarboxylation of the surface formate species without the need for any changes in the reaction conditions. Thus, the newly developed Ru@SILP GB catalysts allow controlled and alternating production of either saturated alcohols or ketones from unsaturated substrates depending on the use of H 2 or H 2 /CO 2 as feed gas. The major prerequisite for design of adaptive catalytic systems based on CO 2 as trigger is the ability to shift the H 2  + CO 2   ⇔  HCOOH equilibrium sufficiently to exploit competing adsorption of surface formate and targeted functional groups. Thus, the concept can be expected to be more generally applicable beyond ruthenium as the active metal, paving the way for next-generation adaptive catalytic systems in hydrogenation reactions more broadly.

Background: Vector-borne pathogens (VBPs) are increasing in significance in veterinary medicine and public health settings, with wildlife playing a potentially crucial role in their transmission. Eurasian badgers (Meles meles) are widely distributed across Europe. However, information currently available on the prevalence of VBPs in badgers is limited. The objective of the current study was to investigate the occurrence of Anaplasmataceae, Bartonella spp., Mycoplasma spp., Rickettsia spp., Piroplasmida, Trypanosomatida and Filarioidea in badgers and subsequently, based on the results, assess the potential risk to domestic animals, other wildlife and humans., Methods: Between 2017 and 2021, blood or spleen samples from 220 badgers were collected in nine continental European countries: Austria (n = 7), Bosnia and Herzegovina (n = 2), Croatia (n = 22), France (n = 44), Germany (n = 16), Hungary (n = 7), Italy (n = 16), Romania (n = 80) and Serbia (n = 26). VBPs were identified by performing PCR analysis on the samples, followed by Sanger sequencing. Additionally, to distinguish between different Babesia lineages we performed restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis on piroplasm-positive samples, using HinfI as restriction enzyme. A phylogenetic analysis was performed on Mycoplasma spp., Results: The pathogens identified were Babesia sp. badger type A (54%), B (23%), and C (37%); Trypanosoma pestanai (56%); Mycoplasma sp. (34%); Candidatus Mycoplasma haematomelis (8%); Candidatus Mycoplasma haematominutum (0.5%); and Ehrlichia spp. (2%). Rickettsia spp., Bartonella spp. and filarioid nematodes were not detected among the tested samples., Conclusions: The large sample size and diverse study populations in this study provide valuable insights into the distribution and epidemiology of the analyzed pathogens. Some of the VBPs identified in our study show high similarity to those found in domestic animals, such as dogs. This finding suggests that badgers, as potential reservoirs for these pathogens, may pose a threat not only to other wildlife but also to domestic animals in close vicinity. This study explores carbon dioxide enrichment in anaerobic digestion to boost biomethane production and assess degradation kinetics and methanogenic pathway evolution. Carbon dioxide enrichment was found to improve inoculum digestion, supplying additional energy for methanogenic archaea. The methane yield of blank inocula increased by 53 % to 77 % after carbon dioxide enrichment. Although further digestion of inoculum residues took longer, rapid adaptation led to an increased methane production rate that surpassed the lag phase. No antagonistic effects were observed with carbon dioxide enrichment after applying the feedstocks. Increased methane production, along with a significant reduction in chemical oxygen demand, confirms the impact of carbon dioxide enrichment on inoculum digestion. Isotope analysis showed an increase in δ 2 H-CH 4 values by approximately 36 mU compared to non-enriched inoculum, implying intensified hydrogenotrophic methanogenesis. We aimed to estimate the prevalence of potentially diarrhoeagenic microbes (PDMs) in faecal samples from asymptomatic individuals in a high-income country, identify risk factors for carriage and to identify microbial factors that differ between PDMs in asymptomatic versus symptomatic individuals. Samples from 1000 asymptomatic participants were collected, together with a questionnaire, between 2015 and 2020 and examined by PCR for 11 PDMs. Isolates were characterised and potential risk factors were registered. Atypical enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (aEPEC), Yersinia enterocolitica, Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC), enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC) and Campylobacter spp. were found in 163 (16%), 20 (2.0%), 17 (1.7%), 12 (1.2%) and 11 (1.1%) asymptomatic individuals, respectively. Other PDMs were rare. Only low virulent STEC, with stx1c, stx2b or stx2f, was detected. Travels outside Europe was a significant risk factor for detecting Campylobacter spp. (odds ratio (OR) 6.99; 95% CI 1.12-43.6) and ETEC (OR 11.4; 95% CI 1.26-102). Individuals ≥65 years of age had lower odds of carrying STEC (OR 0.11; 95% CI 0.02-0.57) or EPEC (OR 0.09; 95% CI 0.05-0.16) than individuals ≤5 years of age. Objective: To analyze the association of neurological disorders (ND) and head and neck cancer (HNC) with dysphagia severity and aspiration pneumonia occurrence., Method: Retrospective cohort study conducted at a university dysphagia center) for two consecutive years. Patients with ND or HNC were included if they had undergone a flexible endoscopic swallowing evaluation (FEES) at the dysphagia center, and at least one food consistency had been sampled and recorded. Outcomes of interest were swallowing safety, highest penetration-aspiration-score (PAS max ), way of food intake, presence of a tracheal tube, and occurrence of pneumonia within the past two years., Results: Of 257 consecutive patients, 199 were enrolled in the study and classified according to their underlying diagnosis into ND (120 patients) or HNC (79 patients). Forty-three HNC patients (54.4%) and 54 ND patients (45%) showed critical dysphagia in FEES (PAS ≥ 6). Binary logistic regression comparing both groups showed patients with ND to be 2.31 times more likely to develop pneumonia. However, if the 32 stroke patients were excluded from the calculation, PAS max remains the only significant variable affecting pneumonia risk in both groups. Liquids were the main challenge for ND patients, while aspirating HNC patients struggled with all consistencies., Conclusions: The study shows that patients with HNC and ND differ in pneumonia risk only if stroke patients are included in the ND group. If they are excluded, the PAS score is the only remaining risk factor for pneumonia. Cities suffering water scarcity are projected to increase in the following decades. However, the application of standardized indicator frameworks for assessing urban water resource management problems is on an early stage. India is expected to have the highest urban population facing water scarcity in the world by 2050. In this study, the authors assess how the Drivers-Pressures-States-Impacts-Responses framework, a causal framework adopted by the European Environment Agency, can contribute to evaluate water management challenges in cities and apply it to Chennai, India´s fourth-largest urban agglomeration. The framework proved to be a helpful tool for the evaluation of water management challenges in cities by disentangling relationships between environmental indicators and structuring dispersed data that allows a better understanding for policymakers. The main drivers identified in Chennai were population growth and economic development which generated impacts such as loss of aquatic ecosystems, low water table, low water quality, and reduction of biodiversity and human health. As a response, better urban planning, projects for new water infrastructure, and water bodies restoration have been implemented. Nevertheless, Chennai keeps facing difficulties to achieve proper water management. In 2023, field research in south-western Poland led to the noteworthy discovery of two hornworts: Notothylasorbicularis , a species previously unrecorded in this country, and the rediscovery of Anthocerosneesii for the Polish bryoflora. These findings are significant as they suggest a response to climate change, which is facilitating the range expansion of hornworts within Central Europe. Detailed descriptions of the new localities for both species are provided, highlighting the specific environmental conditions and habitats where they were found. Distribution maps for Notothylasorbicularis and Anthocerosneesii in Poland are provided, as well as SEM micrographs of spores. Additionally, a key to the identification of Polish hornwort species is also included. Furthermore, a model projecting the potential future spread of these hornworts within Poland and the broader Central European region is presented. This model considers climatic variables and habitat availability, offering insights into possible range shifts. Purpose: To evaluate the outcomes of patients treated with corneal allogeneic intrastromal ring segments cut with femtosecond laser (Femto-CAIRS) without concomitant corneal crosslinking., Methods: Patients with keratoconus treated with Femto-CAIRS at the American University of Beirut Medical Center were included (May 2022-January 2023). A proprietary software program was developed on the femtosecond laser to cut allogeneic segments. Visual, refractive, tomographic, aberrometric, and epithelial data by anterior segment optical coherence tomography were measured at baseline and 1, 3, 6, and 12 months postoperatively., Results: 20 eyes of 15 patients were included and followed up for 12 months. The manifest refraction spherical equivalent and cylinder improved from -6.79 ± 4.9 diopter (D) and -4.25 ± 1.8 D to -1.88 ± 2.9 D (P < 0.001) and -2.64 ± 1.4 D (P = 0.01) 12 months postoperatively, respectively. 75% of eyes gained 3 or more corrected distance visual acuity lines, most of which (65%) gained 4 lines or more 12 months postoperatively. The maximum keratometry and vertical coma decreased by 5.2 D (P < 0.001) and 1 μm (P = 0.001), respectively, 3 months postoperatively and remained stable until 12 months. The largest anterior stromal elevation over the central 5-mm diameter decreased from 36.0 ± 18.2 μm preoperatively to 19.9 ± 9.25 μm at 1 week postoperatively (P < 0.001) and remained relatively stable. Epithelial thickness over the cone increased relative to baseline starting 1 month postoperatively and becoming stable after 6 months while the mean epithelial thickness central to the ring peaked at 1 month after which it decreased to reach a plateau at 6 months., Conclusions: The Femto-CAIRS procedure improves visual and tomographic parameters and allows repeatable and safe results with the possibility of customization for individualized management., Competing Interests: S. The Rapid Campimetry (RC), a kinetic visual field test proved to reliably detect visual field defects within the central 10° degrees, the most crucial part for visual acuity and quality of life, affected even at very early stages of glaucoma, within a short measurement epoch, ~ 1 min. This study aims to further investigate RC correspondence with standard tests in glaucoma, namely standard automated perimetry (SAP) and optical coherence tomography (OCT) within 10° of visual field (VF). For this purpose, we included 41 participants, [21 glaucoma (GLA, mean age: 65.9 ± 12.4; 12 preperimetric eyes and 11 with VF defects) and 20 healthy controls (HC; mean age: 65.0 ± 10.3); 20 eyes]. At first, we compared the rate of detection/exclusion of VF defects in RC vs. SAP. Then, for those with VF defects (11 eyes), we investigated the 68-pointwise correspondence of 10 - 2 layout of RC and SAP. For functional and structural (SF) correspondence, pointwise correspondence of RC, SAP vs. OCT macula [ macular ganglion cell thickness (GCL)] was also performed. Further, we compared sector-based correspondence of RC, SAP vs. OCT macula accounting for GCL displacement at the fovea as well as sector-based correspondence with OCT disc [peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer thickness (pRNFL)]. Agreement estimates were reported along with Cohen Kappa ([Formula: see text]) statistic. For overall performance, RC and SAP showed 100% agreement ([Formula: see text]) for the exclusion of VF defects (HC and preperimetric GLA) and for detection of VF defects [11 eyes of 9 GLA, ([Formula: see text]]. Further, RC outperformed SAP in detection of arcuate scotomas, 7 vs. 5, respectively. Pointwise correspondence of VF defects (11 eyes), RC-SAP agreement reached 90% accuracy ([Formula: see text]). For SF correspondence, RC [SAP] showed 62% [69%] pointwise agreement with OCT macula , ([Formula: see text]). For macular sector-based correspondence, SF correspondence improved and reached 83% [83%] agreement, ([Formula: see text]). For OCT disc sector-based analysis, SF correspondence was highest, 100% [100%] agreement, ([Formula: see text]). While cervical cancer is associated with a persistent human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, the progression to cancer is influenced by genomic risk factors that have remained largely obscure. Pathogenic variants in genes of the homology-directed repair (HDR) or mismatch repair (MMR) are known to predispose to diverse tumour entities including breast and ovarian cancer (HDR) or colon and endometrial cancer (MMR). We here investigate the spectrum of HDR and MMR germline variants in cervical cancer, with particular focus on the HPV status and histological subgroups. We performed targeted next-generation sequencing for 5 MMR genes and 12 HDR genes on 728 German patients with cervical dysplasia or invasive cancer. In total, 4% of our patients carried a pathogenic germline variant, based on ClinVar classifications and additional ESM1b and AlphaMissense predictions. These included 15 patients with truncating variants in HDR genes (BARD1, BRCA1, BRCA2, BRIP1, FANCM, RAD51D and SLX4). MMR-related gene variants were less prevalent and mainly of the missense type. While MMR-related gene variants tended to associate with adenocarcinomas, HDR gene variants were commonly observed in squamous cancers. While one patient with HPV-negative cancer carried a pathogenic MMR gene variant (in MSH6), the HDR germline variants were found in patients with HPV-positive cancers and tended to associate with HPV18. Taken together, our study supports a potentially risk-modifying role of MMR and HDR germline variants in cervical cancer but no association with HPV-negative status. The recognition of core promoter sequences by TFIID is the first step in RNA polymerase II (Pol II) transcription initiation. Metazoan holo-TFIID is a trilobular complex, composed of the TATA binding protein (TBP) and 13 TBP-associated factors (TAFs). Why and how TAFs are necessary for the formation of TFIID domains and how they contribute to transcription initiation remain unclear. Inducible TAF7 or TAF10 depletion, followed by comprehensive analysis of TFIID subcomplex formation, chromatin binding, and nascent transcription in mouse embryonic stem cells, result in the formation of a TAF7-lacking TFIID or a minimal core-TFIID complex, respectively. These partial complexes support TBP recruitment at promoters and nascent Pol II transcription at most genes early after depletion, but importantly, TAF10 is necessary for efficient Pol II pausing. Background: Depression and anxiety are significant health burdens that greatly impact the quality of life of refugees and migrants. In this study, we have translated and culturally adapted the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) and Generalized Anxiety Disorder Screener (GAD-7) into Kinyarwanda and performed a validation study in a United States (US) primary care setting., Methods: A committee of seven experts including psychiatric and family medicine providers, health researchers, and trained medical interpreters translated and culturally adapted the PHQ-9 and GAD-7, and incorporated feedback from cognitive interviews with bilingual participants. The translated instruments were then tested in a cross-sectional validation study. Analyses include internal consistency, discriminant validity, principal component analyses, and confirmatory factor analyses., Results: Analyses of 119 responses indicated overall good internal consistency with Cronbach's α of 0.85 (PHQ-9) and 0.92 (GAD-7). Both scales showed acceptable factor loadings between 0.44 and 0.90 in the principal component analyses and showed strong correlations with health-related quality of life and depression/anxiety symptoms measured with visual analog scales. Significantly higher scores for PHQ-9 and GAD-7 were shown among participants with known psychiatric conditions., Discussion: PHQ-9 and GAD-7 demonstrated commendable applicability for Kinyarwanda-speaking patients in primary healthcare settings in the US. Creating (room temperature) liquid crystalline TADF materials that retain the photophysical properties of the monomolecular TADF emitters remains a formidable challenge. The strong intramolecular interactions required for formation of a liquid crystal usually adversely affect the photophysical properties and balancing them is not yet possible. In this work, we present a novel host-guest approach enabling unperturbed, narrowband emission from an MR-TADF emissive core from strongly aggregated columnar hexagonal (Col h ) liquid crystals. By modifying the DOBNA scaffold with mesogenic groups bearing alkoxy chains of different lengths, we created a library of Col h liquid crystals featuring phase ranges >100 K and room temperature mesomorphism. Expectedly, these exhibit broad excimer emission from their neat films, so we exploited their high singlet (S 1 ∼2.9 eV) and triplet (T 1 ∼2.5 eV) energies by doping them with the MR-TADF guest BCzBN. Upon excitation of the host, efficient Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) resulted in almost exclusive emission from BCzBN. The ability of the liquid crystallinity of the host to not be adversely affected by the presence of BCzBN is demonstrated as is the localization of the guest molecules within the aliphatic chain network of the host, resulting in extremely narrowband emission (FWHM = 14-15 nm). According to motive disposition theory, athletes high in affiliation motivation should find team contexts more rewarding than individual contexts, and hence perform better in team than in individual competitions. The opposite is predicted for athletes high in power motivation. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to test these hypotheses in an elite sample (here: ski jumping athletes) based on archived worldcup competition data from both individual and team competitions on the one hand, and self-reported and projectively assessed motives on the other hand. Results confirmed that even at the highest levels of professional sports, individual differences in motives show systematic relationships to competition performance. First, the negative impact of athletes' projectively assessed affiliation motive in individual competitions was significantly attenuated in team competitions, indicating that these represent more favorable conditions for athletes high in affiliation. Second, the projectively assessed power motive exhibited an overall negative relationship to performance. In contrast, self-reported achievement and affiliation motives showed a positive relationship to performance. Objective: This study investigates the concordance of patient information collected using a medical history app compared to in-person interviews., Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study we used an app to collect medical data from patients in family practice in Germany. Collected information included age, height, weight, perceived severity of complaints, and 38 current complaints. Subsequently, in-person interviews based on the query structure of the app were conducted with patients directly after the patient finished filling out the app. Concordance was assessed as exact matches between the data collected app-based and in-person interviews, with the in-person interview as a reference. Regression analysis examined which patient characteristics were associated with mismatching and underreporting of complaints., Results: Three hundred ninety-nine patients were included in the study. Concordance of reported age, weight, and height, as well as perceived severity of complaints ranged from 76.2% to 96.7%. Across all 38 complaints, 64.4% of participants showed completely identical complaint selection in app-based and in-person interviews; 18.5% of all participants overreported; and 17.0% underreported at least 1 complaint when using the app. Male sex, higher age, and higher number of stated complaints were associated with higher odds of underreporting at least one complaint in the app., Discussion: App-collected data regarding age, weight, height, and perceived severity of complaints showed high concordance. Background and Purpose: Functional recovery after stroke is often limited, despite various treatment methods such as robot-assisted therapy. Repetitive sensory stimulation (RSS) might be a promising add-on therapy that is thought to directly drive plasticity processes. First positive effects on sensorimotor function have been shown. However, clinical studies are scarce, and the effect of RSS combined with robot-assisted training has not been evaluated yet. Therefore, our objective was to investigate the feasibility and sensorimotor effects of RSS (compared to a control group receiving sham stimulation) followed by robot-assisted arm therapy., Methods: Forty participants in the subacute phase (4.4-23.9 weeks) after stroke with a moderate to severe arm paresis were randomized to RSS or control group. Participants received 12 sessions of (sham-) stimulation within 3 weeks. Stimulation of the fingertips and the robot-assisted therapy were each applied in 45-min sessions. Motor and sensory outcome assessments (e.g. Fugl-Meyer-Assessment, grip strength) were measured at baseline, post intervention and at a 3-week follow-up., Results: Participants in both groups improved their sensorimotor function from baseline to post and follow-up measurements, as illustrated by most motor and sensory outcome assessments. However, no significant group effects were found for any measures at any time ( P > 0.058). Stimulations were well accepted, no safety issues arose., Discussion and Conclusions: Feasibility of robot-assisted therapy with preceding RSS in persons with moderate to severe paresis was demonstrated. However, RSS preceding robot-assisted training failed to show a preliminary effect compared to the control intervention. Objective: Characterization of medical emergencies of patients with psychiatric symptoms or in psychosocial crisis., Methods: Analysis of emergency medical services (EMS) mission logs from four German EMS stations of patients aged 12-65 from 2019 to 2020., Results: 23.4% of missions involved patients with psychiatric or psychosocial symptoms (1.6% psychotic, 3.0% suicidal, 7.1% psychosocial crisis, 15.7% intoxicated). On average, these patients were younger than those with other symptoms. 48.9% exhibited additional somatic complaints. The COVID-19 pandemic showed only little impact on the frequency of such emergencies., Conclusion: Psychiatric and psychosocial symptoms account for a significant proportion of rescue missions in our sample.
