This study aims to accurately predict the nonlinear characteristics of transmission efficiency of cycloid reducers under different operating conditions. Firstly, equivalent modeling of the multi-source errors (MSEs) in the designed cycloid reducer is conducted. Force analysis algorithms considering MSEs are proposed for the cycloid drive mechanism, the output mechanism, and the bearings. Secondly, mathematical models are established for the load-dependent power losses, while an equivalent test is used for modeling load-independent power losses. Subsequently, an improved transmission efficiency prediction (TEP) method for cycloid reducers is proposed, which is then applied to the performance prediction of a prototype under different operating conditions. The advantages of the improved TEP method over the conventional method are discussed, and the influences of MSEs and load-independent power losses on the nonlinear characteristics of transmission efficiency are summarized. Finally, tests are conducted for the reducer prototype, and the test results are found to be in good agreement with the results obtained by the proposed TEP method. The main contribution of this study is to establish a solid algorithmic and modeling foundation for the optimal design of nonlinear transmission efficiency in cycloid reducers and provide reliable guidance for their engineering applications. In recent years, the phenomenon of black–odorous water has occurred frequently, and constructed wetlands have been widely used as an effective means of treating black–odorous water. In order to achieve the goal of low-carbon and high-efficiency long-term clean-up of black–odorous water, the modular constructed wetland system was optimized in this study. The optimized modular constructed wetland consisted of aeration, denitrification, and phosphorus removal, of which the denitrification module was a sulfur–iron autotrophic denitrification unit and the phosphorus removal module was a polyaluminum chloride composite filler phosphorus-removal unit. Experimental findings indicated that modular systems with layout ratios of 1:3:1 (A) and 1:2:2 (B) exhibit outstanding performance in remediating contaminants from black–odorous water. Notably, system B demonstrated superior treatment efficiency. Under conditions of high pollution loading, system B consistently achieved stable removal rates for COD (95.79%), TN (91.74%), NH4+-N (95.17%), and TP (82.21%). The combination of along-track changes and high-throughput sequencing results showed that the synergies among the units did not produce negative effects during the purification process, and each unit realized its predefined function. Changes in the substrate and internal environment of the wetland units caused changes in the microbial populations, and the unique microbial community structure of the units ensured that they were effective in removing different pollutants. Despite being predicted to be a thermodynamically equilibrium structure, the absence of direct experimental evidence of hexagonally close-packed spherical phase in single-component block copolymers raises uncomfortable concerns regarding the existing fundamental phase principles. This work presents a robust approach to regulate the phase behavior of linear block copolymers by deliberately breaking molecular symmetry, and the hexagonally close-packed lattice is captured in a rigorous single-component system. A collection of discrete A1BA2 triblock copolymers is designed and prepared through an iterative growth method. The precise chemical composition and uniform chain length eliminates inherent size distribution and other molecular defects. Simply by tuning the relative chain length of two end A blocks, a rich array of ordered nanostructures, including Frank−Kasper A15 and σ phases, are fabricated without changing the overall chemistry or composition. More interestingly, hexagonally close-packed spherical phase becomes thermodynamically stable and experimentally accessible attributed to the synergistic contribution of the two end blocks. The shorter A blocks are pulled out from the core domain into the matrix to release packing frustration, while the longer ones stabilize the ordered spherical phase against composition fluctuation that tends to disrupt the lattice. This study adds a missing puzzle piece to the block copolymer phase diagram and provides a robust approach for rational structural engineering. Background: Currently, there is a lack of effective indicators for predicting the efficacy of immunotherapy in patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This study aimed to investigate the expression and prognostic value of peripheral T lymphocyte subsets in advanced HCC. Methods: Patients with advanced HCC who were treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) from December 2021 to December 2023 were included in the study. Flow cytometry was used to detect lymphocyte subsets before treatment. The patients were divided into disease control (DC) and nondisease control (nDC) groups based on treatment efficacy. Relationships between the clinical characteristics/peripheral T lymphocytes and immunotherapy efficacy were analyzed. The effectiveness of peripheral T lymphocyte subsets in predicting immunotherapy efficacy for patients with advanced HCC was analyzed using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. Results: A total of 40 eligible patients were included in this study. Non-DC was significantly associated with higher albumin-bilirubin (ALBI) scores. The percentages of γδ+Vδ2+PD1+ T cells and γδ+Vδ2+Tim3+ T cells were greater in the nDC group than in the DC group. Multivariable regression analysis revealed that the ALBI score and T lymphocytes expressing γδ+Vδ2+PD1+ and γδ+Vδ2+Tim3+ were founded to be independent influencing factors. The area under the ROC curve (AUC) values for these combinations was 0.944 (95% CI, 0.882 ~ 1.000). Conclusions: The calculation of the ALBI score and determination of the percentages CD3+γδ+Vδ2+PD1+ T lymphocytes and CD3+γδ+Vδ2+Tim3+ T lymphocytes in the peripheral blood of patients with advanced HCC are helpful for predicting the patients’ responses to ICIs, helping to screen patients who may clinically benefit from immunotherapy. Background: The relationship between plant-based diets and gallstone disease has been debated. This study aimed to shed light on the association between plant-based dietary index and the risk of developing gallstone disease. Methods: Eligible participants were selected from National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2017–2020. Three plant-based diet indexes (PDI, healthy PDI, unhealthy PDI) were calculated using data from two NHANES 24-h dietary recall interviews. Restricted Cubic Spline and multivariate logistic regression were used to analyze the associations. Subgroup analysis was adopted to make the results more robust. Results: A total of 5673 eligible participants were analyzed. After adjusting for various confounding variables, uPDI was positively associated with gallstone disease (OR = 1.53, 95%CI: 1.02–2.29). No association was found between PDI/hPDI and gallstone disease (p > 0.05). The results of subgroup analysis did not show any positive association between uPDI and gallstones in specific groups. This paper explores the practicability of bimanual asymmetric interaction and the factors affecting it when manipulating virtual three-dimensional objects through Leap, a novel hand motion capture device. This research has the potential to aid in the rehabilitation of people with upper limb function impairments. The participants were asked to enlarge a virtual three-dimensional box device to a predefined specified scale. Three influencing factors were addressed, i.e., task difficulty, task allocation and interactive mode. The results indicate that all factors have significant effects on movement time. However, analysis of variance tests shows that there are significant effects on the error rate and spatial patterns due to task difficulty and interactive mode, while no significant effects are found for task allocation. Additionally, task allocation is observed to have significant effects on the time of each hand from zooming phase onset to peak velocity. The action of the nondominant hand is coarser than that of the dominant hand. Interestingly, the velocities of both hands synchronized as the task difficulty level increased, even though the limbs moved at quite different speeds in the initial stage. This research provides insights into how one hand coordinates with the other in terms of the temporal aspects of movement kinematics and thus can help in designing rehabilitative devices that interact with the healthy hand. Knowledge bases have been instrumental in advancing biological research, facilitating pathway analysis and data visualization, which are now widely employed in the scientific community. Despite the establishment of several prominent knowledge bases focusing on signaling, metabolic networks, or both, integrating these networks into a unified topological network has proven to be challenging. The intricacy of molecular interactions and the diverse formats employed to store and display them contribute to the complexity of this task. In a prior study, we addressed this challenge by introducing a "meta-pathway" structure that integrated the advantages of the Simple Interaction Format (SIF) while accommodating reaction information. Nevertheless, the earlier Global Integrative Network (GIN) was limited to reliance on KEGG alone. Here, we present GIN version 2.0, which incorporates human molecular interaction data from ten distinct knowledge bases, including KEGG, Reactome, and HumanCyc, among others. We standardized the data structure, gene IDs, and chemical IDs, and conducted a comprehensive analysis of the consistency among the ten knowledge bases before combining all unified interactions into GINv2.0. Utilizing GINv2.0, we investigated the glycolysis process and its regulatory proteins, revealing coordinated regulations on glycolysis and autophagy, particularly under glucose starvation. The expanded scope and enhanced capabilities of GINv2.0 provide a valuable resource for comprehensive systems-level analyses in the field of biological research. Background: Only a small percentage of patients with large hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) can undergo surgical resection (SR) therapy while the prognosis of patients with large HCC is poor. However, innovations in surgical techniques have expanded the scope of surgical interventions accessible to patients with large HCC. Currently, most of the existing nomograms are focused on patients with large HCC, and research on patients who undergo surgery is limited. This study aimed to establish a nomogram to predict cancer-specific survival (CSS) in patients with large HCC who will undergo SR., Methods: The study retrieved data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database encompassing patients with HCC between 2010 and 2015. Patients with large HCC accepting SR were eligible participants. Patients were randomly divided into the training (70%) and internal validation (30%) groups. Patients from Air Force Medical Center between 2012 and 2019 who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were used as external datasets. Demographic information such as sex, age, race, etc. and clinical characteristics such as chemotherapy, histological grade, fibrosis score, etc. were analyzed. CSS was the primary endpoint. All-subset regression and Cox regression were used to determine the relevant variables required for constructing the nomogram. Decision curve analysis (DCA) was used to evaluate the clinical utility of the nomogram. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) and calibration curve were used to validate the nomogram. The Kaplan-Meier curve was used to assess the CSS of patients with HCC in different risk groups., Results: In total, 1,209 eligible patients from SEER database and 21 eligible patients from Air Force Medical Center were included. Most patients were male and accepted surgery to lymph node. The independent prognostic factors included sex, histological grade, T stage, chemotherapy, α-fetoprotein (AFP) level, and vascular invasion. The CSS rate for training cohort at 12, 24, and 36 months were 0.726, 0.731, and 0.725 respectively. The CSS rate for internal validation cohort at 12, 24, and 36 months were 0.785, 0.752, and 0.734 respectively. The CSS rate for external validation cohort at 12, 24, and 36 months were 0.937, 0.929, and 0.913 respectively. The calibration curve demonstrated good consistency between the newly established nomogram and real-world observations. The Kaplan-Meier curve showed significantly unfavorable CSS in the high-risk group (P<0.001). An A(AB 3 ) 3 dendron-like miktoarm star copolymer consisting of polystyrene (PS, A) and poly(2-vinylpyridine) (P2VP, B) was synthesized using a series of anionic polymerization, atom-transfer radical polymerization (ATRP), and click reaction. The morphology of A(AB 3 ) 3 changed greatly depending on the volume fraction of A and the chain asymmetry. Interestingly, a body-centered cubic spherical phase was found even at f A = 0.51 because the chain architecture of A(AB 3 ) 3 stabilizes the large interfacial curvature toward A domains. On the other hand, when the length difference between the end and middle A blocks decreased, a hexagonally packed cylindrical phase was formed at f A = 0.50. This is attributed to the fact that the middle A chains are arranged in a more relaxed way, resulting in a milder interfacial curvature toward A domains. The experimental observations are well-consistent with the predictions based on self-consistent-field theory.
