This study describes the rational development and synthesis of a benzothiazole-salicylaldehyde Schiff base probe 1. This probe is designed to function as a ratiometric fluorescent probe specifically for detecting ClO− ions, utilizing the imine bond as the fluorophore unit. Upon interaction with ClO− ions, probe 1 exhibits a redshift in its absorption spectrum from 435 nm to 450 nm. Moreover, in its emission spectrum, there is a ratiometric emission enhancement observed at 610 nm, providing a clear indication of the presence of ClO− ions. The sensitivity of probe 1 for detecting ClO− ions is quantified, revealing a lowest detection limit of 5.5 μM, indicating its potential for sensitive detection even at low concentrations of ClO− ions. Additionally, it has been successfully utilized for biological imaging purposes, demonstrating low cytotoxicity, which is crucial for its applicability in biological systems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The MD-2-related lipid-recognition (ML/Md-2) domain is a lipid/sterol-binding domain that are involved in sterol transfer and innate immunity in eukaryotes. Here we report a genome-wide survey of this family, identifying 84 genes in 30 fungi including plant pathogens. All the studied species were found to have varied ML numbers, and expansion of the family was observed in Rhizophagus irregularis (RI) with 33 genes. The molecular docking studies of these proteins with cholesterol derivatives indicate lipid-binding functional conservation across the animal and fungi kingdom. The phylogenetic studies among eukaryotic ML proteins showed that Puccinia ML members are more closely associated with animal (insect) npc2 proteins than other fungal ML members. One of the candidates from leaf rust fungus Puccinia triticina, Pt5643 was PCR amplified and further characterized using various studies such as qRT-PCR, subcellular localization studies, yeast functional complementation, signal peptide validation, and expression studies. The Pt5643 exhibits the highest expression on the 5th day post-infection (dpi). The confocal microscopy of Pt5643 in onion epidermal cells and N. benthamiana shows its location in the cytoplasm and nucleus. The functional complementation studies of Pt5643 in npc2 mutant yeast showed its functional similarity to the eukaryotic/yeast npc2 gene. Furthermore, the overexpression of Pt5643 also suppressed the BAX, NEP1, and H₂O₂-induced program cell death in Nicotiana species and yeast. Altogether the present study reports the novel function of ML domain proteins in plant fungal pathogens and their possible role as effector molecules in host defense manipulation. This work presents synthesis and characterization of two cobalt‐based coordination polymers (CPs) prepared by using two positionally related pyridine‐2,6‐dicarboxamide fragment‐based ligands containing appended arylcarboxylic acid groups. While arylcarboxylate groups of ligands coordinate to the Co(II) ions to produce 2D CPs; the amidic N−H groups remain free and generate large cavities lined with hydrogen bonds. Such hydrogen bonding cavities based CPs were found to reversibly adsorb molecular iodine. The Lewis acidic Co(II) ions and metal‐coordinated labile solvent molecules in CPs promoted noteworthy heterogeneous catalysis for Friedel crafts reactions as well as multicomponent condensation reactions. Highlights Bio‐based flexible dielectric substrates have gained tremendous attention for their potential to reduce environmental risks from nonbiodegradable electronic waste. The present study demonstrates the fabrication of facile, nontoxic, and biodegradable chitosan‐based flexible dielectric substrate using graphene nanoplatelet (GNP) as a nanofiller. The detailed impact of different concentrations of GNP (1, 2, and 3 wt%) into the chitosan (CS) matrix was studied on physicochemical, morphological, mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties. The fabricated CS/GNP composites showed improved mechanical strength, thermal stability, and electrical properties compared with unmodified CS film. The composites exhibited excellent thermal stability (200°C) with a promising biodegradation rate (within 6 days). The mechanical strength of the unmodified CS film was increased unequivocally with 2 wt% GNP loading with tensile strength of 23.56 Mpa. Furthermore, the current–voltage (I–V) characteristic curves for CS/GNP (2%) and CS/GNP (3%) showed similar current conduction and ohmic behavior in flat, bending, and flat‐after‐bending modes. The dielectric measurements revealed that the CS/GNP composite with 2 wt% filler exhibited optimal performance having permittivity (έ) of 32.71 (at 102 Hz) with low dielectric loss of 0.04 (at 106 Hz). These results suggest that the dielectric films offer strong prospects as an eco‐friendly alternative for various applications. Biodegradable chitosan‐based flexible dielectric films were prepared. Films were made using a simple solvent casting method with 1–3 wt% GNP filler. Optimum physicochemical and electrical properties were seen at 2 wt% GNP. Present case report describes a case of an atypical oesophageal actinobacillosis in an adult cow presented to the university hospital with a history of inability to drink and swallow. Clinical examination revealed a five-inch swelling in the jugular groove. Skiagram revealed the presence of a small and slightly radio opaque round growth. Exploratory surgical excision of the growth was adapted as palliative treatment and the extirpated tissue was fixed in 10% buffered formalin. Histopathological examination revealed pyogranulomatous inflammation with radiating eosinophilic club shaped bodies surrounding small colonies of coccobacilli. Gram and Ziehl-Neelsen stains confirmed the presence of Gram-negative and non-acid-fast coccobacilli. Histopathology confirmed the pathognomonic lesion and proved to be a modality of choice for pathologists to reach at a diagnosis of atypical oesophageal actinobacillosis in a cow.
