This study characterizes role assignments in maximizing a group's winning probability under the influence of the complementarity of group members' efforts in a group contest, in contrast to prize and multiple resource allocations. We use a constant elasticity of substitution effort aggregator function to parameterize the complementarity. While the prize and resource allocation rules depend on the complementarity, the assignment rule does not when multiple roles are assignable to a single group member: All roles are assigned only to the most productive group member. However, when only a single role per group member is assignable, the assignment rule depends on the complementarity: Roles from greater to less importance are assigned to group members in descending order of their productivity under strong complementarity; only the most important role is assigned to the most productive group member and the others have no effect under weak complementarity. Introduction: The aim was to examine the differences in electroencephalography (EEG) findings by visual and automated quantitative analyses between Alzheimer's disease (AD) and dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) and Parkinson's disease with dementia (PDD). Methods: EEG data of 20 patients with AD and 24 with DLB/PDD (12 DLB and 12 PDD) were retrospectively analyzed. Based on the awake EEG, the posterior dominant rhythm frequency and proportion of patients who showed intermittent focal and diffuse slow waves (IDS) were visually and automatically compared between the AD and DLB/PDD groups. Results: On visual analysis, patients with DLB/PDD showed a lower PDR frequency than patients with AD. In patients with PDR <8 Hz and occipital slow waves or patients with PDR <8 Hz and IDS, DLB/PDD was highly suspected (PPV 100%) and AD was unlikely (PPV 0%). On automatic analysis, the findings of the PDR were similar to those on visual analysis. Comparisons between visual and automatic analysis showed an overlap in the focal slow wave commonly detected by both methods in 10 of 44 patients, and concordant presence or absence of IDS in 29 of 43 patients. With respect to PDR <8 Hz and the combination of PDR <8 Hz and IDS, PPV and NPV in DLB/PDD and AD were not different between visual and automatic analysis. Conclusions: As the noninvasive, widely available clinical tool of low expense, visual analysis of EEG findings provided highly sufficient information to delineate different brain dysfunction in AD and DLB/PDD, and automatic EEG analysis could support visual analysis especially about PD., Competing Interests: Declaration of Conflicting InterestsThe authors declared no potential conflicts of interest with respect to the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article.

Introduction: Epilepsy surgery is the only curative treatment for patients with drug-resistant focal epilepsy. Stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) is the gold standard to delineate the seizure-onset zone (SOZ). However, up to 40% of patients are subsequently not operated as no focal non-eloquent SOZ can be identified. The 5-SENSE Score is a 5-point score to predict whether a focal SOZ is likely to be identified by SEEG. This study aims to validate the 5-SENSE Score, improve score performance by incorporating auxiliary diagnostic methods and evaluate its concordance with expert decisions., Methods and Analysis: Non-interventional, observational, multicentre, prospective study including 200 patients with drug-resistant epilepsy aged ≥15 years undergoing SEEG for identification of a focal SOZ and 200 controls at 22 epilepsy surgery centres worldwide. The primary objective is to assess the diagnostic accuracy and generalisability of the 5-SENSE in predicting focality in SEEG in a prospective cohort. Secondary objectives are to optimise score performance by incorporating auxiliary diagnostic methods and to analyse concordance of the 5-SENSE Score with the expert decisions made in the multidisciplinary team discussion., Ethics and Dissemination: Prospective multicentre validation of the 5-SENSE score may lead to its implementation into clinical practice to assist clinicians in the difficult decision of whether to proceed with implantation.
