O artigo aborda a relação entre os fundamentos do serviço social e as relações étnico-raciais na perspectiva da tradição marxista como pressupostos fundamentais para a compreensão e análise da realidade e da questão social. Parte da concepção crítica do Serviço Social na História, cujo trabalho profissional é construído nas contradições e nos movimentos do real, considerando as disputas junto à classe trabalhadora, por um horizonte emancipatório. As relações étnico-raciais compreendidas sob este prisma da totalidade histórica se constituem como solo fértil para decifrar como o racismo se mantém como arma de dominação do capitalismo em especial, nas particularidades de países da América do Sul, tendo aqui por referência, o Brasil. O estudo é fruto de uma acurada revisão bibliográfica, que nos permite afirmar que tais relações entre classe, raça, gênero/sexualidade e território estão diretamente alicerçados nas formas de vida, organização, lutas e resistências que se articulam visceralmente com a questão social, objeto do trabalho profissional.

Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the association between substituting 10, 30, and 60 min/day of physical activity and sitting time with obesity indicators among workers. It is a cross-sectional study involving 394 adults (76.6% women) from São Paulo, Brazil. Physical activity and sitting time (min/day) were measured using the short version of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) to determine physical activity levels. Obesity indicators included body mass index (BMI; kg/m²), waist circumference (cm), and body fat (kg). Isotemporal substitution models were analyzed using multivariate linear regression, adjusted for sociodemographic variables. Participants reported median values of 150.0 min/day (IQR: 60.0–360.0) for walking and 445.7 min/day (IQR: 317.1–565.7) for sitting time. The median values for BMI, waist circumference, and body fat were 27.1 kg/m², 91.0 cm, and 23.5 kg, respectively. Substituting 10 min/day of sitting time for 10 min/day of walking was associated with waist circumference (β: -0.216: 95% CI: -0.041; -0.007). In addition, substituting 60 min/day of sitting time for moderate physical activity (β -0.206; 95% CI: -0.123; -0.008) was negatively associated with body fat. The equivalent substitution of different periods of sitting time for more active behaviors was favorably associated with obesity indicators. These findings suggest that lifestyle interventions based on replacing sitting time with physical activity can reduce the obesity epidemic in adults.

A retrospective and cross-sectional study was carried out on blood donors from Piauí State located at Northeastern Brazil to evaluate the prevalence of Hepatitis E Virus (HEV) infection. Serum samples were tested for anti-HEV IgG and IgM using electrochemiluminescence and HEV RNA was tested using real time PCR. A total of 890 individuals were included with median age of 33.4 years and most of them were male and lived at Mid-Northern region of the State. Prevalences of anti-HEV IgG and IgM were 1.35 % and 0.11 %, respectively. None HEV-RNA was detected. This study demonstrated low prevalence of HEV infection in blood donors in this region.

The establishment of fibroblast lines enables several applications from the formation of biobanks for the conservation of biodiversity to the use of these cells in physiological and toxicological assays. Considered a species vulnerable to extinction, the characterization of fibroblastic lines of northern tiger cat would contribute to its conservation. Therefore, we established and characterized fibroblasts derived from northern tiger cat during extended passage (third, seventh, and eleventh passages) and cryopreservation with regard to the morphology, viability, apoptotic classification, metabolism, proliferative activity, and oxidative stress by reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels and mitochondrial membrane potential (ΔΨm). Initially, we identified four dermal fibroblast lines by morphology, immunophenotyping, and karyotyping assays. In vitro culture after the third, seventh, and eleventh passages did not affect the viability, apoptotic classification, and ROS levels. Nevertheless, cells at seventh and eleventh passages featured a reduction in metabolism and an alteration in ΔΨm when compared to third passage cells. Additionally, cells at eleventh passage showed changes in the proliferative activity and morphology when compared to other passages. Regarding cryopreservation, no effect was observed on cryopreserved cells for morphology, viability, apoptotic classification, metabolism, and proliferative activity. Nevertheless, cryopreserved cells had alteration for ROS levels and ΔΨm. In summary, fibroblasts from northern tiger cat were affected by extended passage (seventh and eleventh passages) and cryopreservation. Adjustments to the in vitro culture and cryopreservation are necessary to reduce cellular oxidative stress caused by in vitro conditions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
