Abstract Adipose tissue, aside from adipocytes, comprises various abundant immune cells. The accumulation of low-grade chronic inflammation in adipose tissue serves as a primary cause and hallmark of insulin resistance. In this study, we investigate the physiological roles of FADD in adipose tissue inflammation, adipogenesis, and adipocyte survival. High levels of Fadd mRNA were observed in mitochondrial-rich organs, particularly brown adipose tissue. To explore its metabolic functions, we generated global Fadd knockout mice, resulting in embryonic lethality, while heterozygous knockout (Fadd+/−) mice did not show any significant changes in body weight or composition. However, Fadd+/− mice exhibited reduced respiratory exchange ratio (RER) and serum cholesterol levels, along with heightened global and adipose inflammatory responses. Furthermore, AT masses and expression levels of adipogenic and lipogenic genes were decreased in Fadd+/− mice. In cellular studies, Fadd inhibition disrupted adipogenic differentiation and suppressed the expression of adipogenic and lipogenic genes in cultured adipocytes. Additionally, Fadd overexpression caused adipocyte death in vitro with decreased RIPK1 and RIPK3 expression, while Fadd inhibition downregulated RIPK3 in iWAT in vivo. These findings collectively underscore the indispensable role of FADD in adipose inflammation, adipogenesis, and adipocyte survival.

Abstract The hippocampus creates a cognitive map of the external environment by encoding spatial and self-motion-related information. However, it is unclear whether hippocampal neurons could also incorporate internal cognitive states reflecting an animal’s exploratory intention, which is not driven by rewards or unexpected sensory stimuli. In this study, a subgroup of CA1 neurons was found to encode both spatial information and animals’ investigatory intentions in male mice. These neurons became active before the initiation of exploration behaviors at specific locations and were nearly silent when the same fields were traversed without exploration. Interestingly, this neuronal activity could not be explained by object features, rewards, or mismatches in environmental cues. Inhibition of the lateral entorhinal cortex decreased the activity of these cells during exploration. Our findings demonstrate that hippocampal neurons may bridge external and internal signals, indicating a potential connection between spatial representation and intentional states in the construction of internal navigation systems.

Summary: Human cortical neurons (hCNs) exhibit high dendritic complexity and synaptic density, and the maturation process is greatly protracted. However, the molecular mechanism governing these specific features remains unclear. Here, we report that the hominoid-specific gene TBC1D3 promotes dendritic arborization and protracts the pace of synaptogenesis. Ablation of TBC1D3 in induced hCNs causes reduction of dendritic growth and precocious synaptic maturation. Forced expression of TBC1D3 in the mouse cortex protracts synaptic maturation while increasing dendritic growth. Mechanistically, TBC1D3 functions via interaction with MICAL1, a monooxygenase that mediates oxidation of actin filament. At the early stage of differentiation, the TBC1D3/MICAL1 interaction in the cytosol promotes dendritic growth via F-actin oxidation and enhanced actin dynamics. At late stages, TBC1D3 escorts MICAL1 into the nucleus and downregulates the expression of genes related with synaptic maturation through interaction with the chromatin remodeling factor ATRX. Thus, this study delineates the molecular mechanisms underlying human neuron development.

Abstract Pain, a comorbidity of anxiety disorders, causes substantial clinical, social, and economic burdens. Emerging evidence suggests that propofol, the most commonly used general anesthetic, may regulate psychological disorders; however, its role in pain‐associated anxiety is not yet described. This study investigates the therapeutic potential of a single dose of propofol (100 mg kg−1) in alleviating pain‐associated anxiety and examines the underlying neural mechanisms. In acute and chronic pain models, propofol decreased anxiety‐like behaviors in the elevated plus maze (EPM) and open field (OF) tests. Propofol also reduced the serum levels of stress‐related hormones including corticosterone, corticotropin‐releasing hormone (CRH), and norepinephrine. Fiber photometry recordings indicated that the calcium signaling activity of CRH neurons in the paraventricular nucleus (PVNCRH) is reduced after propofol treatment. Interestingly, artificially activating PVNCRH neurons through chemogenetics interfered with the anxiety‐reducing effects of propofol. Electrophysiological recordings indicated that propofol decreases the activity of PVNCRH neurons by increasing spontaneous inhibitory postsynaptic currents (sIPSCs). Further, reducing the levels of γ‐aminobutyric acid type A receptor β3 (GABAAβ3) subunits in PVNCRH neurons diminished the anxiety‐relieving effects of propofol. In conclusion, this study provides a mechanistic and preclinical rationale to treat pain‐associated anxiety‐like behaviors using a single dose of propofol.

Abstract Background Radiotheranostics differs from the vast majority of other cancer therapies in its capacity for simultaneous imaging and therapy, and it is becoming more widely implemented. A balance between diagnostic and treatment requirements is essential for achieving effective radiotheranostics. Herein, we propose a proof-of-concept strategy aiming to address the profound differences in the specific requirements of the diagnosis and treatment of radiotheranostics. Results To validate the concept, we designed an s-tetrazine (Tz) conjugated prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) ligand (DOTA-PSMA-Tz) for 68Ga or 177Lu radiolabeling and tumor radiotheranostics, a trans-cyclooctene (TCO) modified Pd@Au nanoplates (Pd@Au-PEG-TCO) for signal amplification, respectively. We then demonstrated this radiotheranostic strategy in the tumor-bearing mice with the following three-step procedures: (1) i.v. injection of the [68Ga]Ga-PSMA-Tz for diagnosis; (2) i.v. injection of the signal amplification module Pd@Au-PEG-TCO; (3) i.v. injection of the [177Lu]Lu-PSMA-Tz for therapy. Firstly, this strategy was demonstrated in 22Rv1 tumor-bearing mice via positron emission tomography (PET) imaging with [68Ga]Ga-PSMA-Tz. We observed significantly higher tumor uptake (11.5 ± 0.8%ID/g) with the injection of Pd@Au-PEG-TCO than with the injection [68Ga]Ga-PSMA-Tz alone (5.5 ± 0.9%ID/g). Furthermore, we validated this strategy through biodistribution studies of [177Lu]Lu-PSMA-Tz, with the injection of the signal amplification module, approximately five-fold higher tumor uptake of [177Lu]Lu-PSMA-Tz (24.33 ± 2.53% ID/g) was obtained when compared to [177Lu]Lu-PSMA-Tz alone (5.19 ± 0.26%ID/g) at 48 h post-injection. Conclusion In summary, the proposed strategy has the potential to expand the toolbox of pretargeted radiotherapy in the field of theranostics. Graphical Abstract

Abstract Paroxysmal kinesigenic dyskinesia (PKD) is associated with a disturbance of neural circuit and network activities, while its neurophysiological characteristics have not been fully elucidated. This study utilized the high‐density electroencephalogram (hd‐EEG) signals to detect abnormal brain activity of PKD and provide a neural biomarker for its clinical diagnosis and PKD progression monitoring. The resting hd‐EEGs are recorded from two independent datasets and then source‐localized for measuring the oscillatory activities and function connectivity (FC) patterns of cortical and subcortical regions. The abnormal elevation of theta oscillation in wildly brain regions represents the most remarkable physiological feature for PKD and these changes returned to healthy control level in remission patients. Another remarkable feature of PKD is the decreased high‐gamma FCs in non‐remission patients. Subtype analyses report that increased theta oscillations may be related to the emotional factors of PKD, while the decreased high‐gamma FCs are related to the motor symptoms. Finally, the authors established connectome‐based predictive modelling and successfully identified the remission state in PKD patients in dataset 1 and dataset 2. The findings establish a clinically relevant electroencephalography profile of PKD and indicate that hd‐EEG can provide robust neural biomarkers to evaluate the prognosis of PKD.

Summary: Amino acid formula (AAF) is increasingly consumed in infants with cow’s milk protein allergy; however, the long-term influences on health are less described. In this study, we established a mouse model by subjecting neonatal mice to an amino acid diet (AAD) to mimic the feeding regimen of infants on AAF. Surprisingly, AAD-fed mice exhibited dysbiotic microbiota and increased neuronal activity in both the intestine and brain, as well as gastrointestinal peristalsis disorders and depressive-like behavior. Furthermore, fecal microbiota transplantation from AAD-fed mice or AAF-fed infants to recipient mice led to elevated neuronal activations and exacerbated depressive-like behaviors compared to that from normal chow-fed mice or cow’s-milk-formula-fed infants, respectively. Our findings highlight the necessity to avoid the excessive use of AAF, which may influence the neuronal development and mental health of children.

Background: Rickettsia and related diseases have been identified as significant global public health threats. This study involved comprehensive field and systematic investigations of various rickettsial organisms in Yunnan Province. Methods: Between May 18, 2011 and November 23, 2020, field investigations were conducted across 42 counties in Yunnan Province, China, encompassing small mammals, livestock, and ticks. Preliminary screenings for Rickettsiales involved amplifying the 16S rRNA genes, along with additional genus- or species-specific genes, which were subsequently confirmed through sequencing results. Sequence comparisons were carried out using the Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST). Phylogenetic relationships were analyzed using the default parameters in the Molecular Evolutionary Genetics Analysis (MEGA) program. The chi-squared test was used to assess the diversities and component ratios of rickettsial agents across various parameters. Results: A total of 7964 samples were collected from small mammals, livestock, and ticks through Yunnan Province and submitted for screening for rickettsial organisms. Sixteen rickettsial species from the genera Rickettsia, Anaplasma, Ehrlichia, Neoehrlichia, and Wolbachia were detected, with an overall prevalence of 14.72%. Among these, 11 species were identified as pathogens or potential pathogens to humans and livestock. Specifically, 10 rickettsial organisms were widely found in 42.11% (24 out of 57) of small mammal species. High prevalence was observed in Dremomys samples at 5.60%, in samples from regions with latitudes above 4000 m or alpine meadows, and in those obtained from Yuanmou County. Anaplasma phagocytophilum and Candidatus Neoehrlichia mikurensis were broadly infecting multiple genera of animal hosts. In contrast, the small mammal genera Neodon, Dremomys, Ochotona, Anourosorex, and Mus were carrying individually specific rickettsial agents, indicating host tropism. There were 13 rickettsial species detected in 57.14% (8 out of 14) of tick species, with the highest prevalence (37.07%) observed in the genus Rhipicephalus. Eight rickettsial species were identified in 2375 livestock samples. Notably, six new Rickettsiales variants/strains were discovered, and Candidatus Rickettsia longicornii was unambiguously identified. Conclusions: This large-scale survey provided further insight into the high genetic diversity and overall prevalence of emerging Rickettsiales within endemic hotspots in Yunnan Province. The potential threats posed by these emerging tick-borne Rickettsiales to public health warrant attention, underscoring the need for effective strategies to guide the prevention and control of emerging zoonotic diseases in China. Objective: We explore the pharmacodynamic targets of kaempferol in treating osteoporosis using transcriptomics and animal experiment. Methods: Firstly, we constructed an ovariectomized rat model (OVX). The anti-osteoporosis effect of kaempferol was evaluated by bone mineral density (BMD) and hematoxylin-eosin staining comprehensively. Moreover, differential genes between groups were screened by RNA sequencing technology (RNA-seq) for transcriptomics and Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathways enrichment analysis were performed. Finally, partial results of transcriptomics were verified to detect the expression of the relevant gene expression by immunohistochemistry. Results: The pharmacodynamic findings indicated that the administration of kaempferol resulted in an elevation in BMD (P < .01) and a notable enhancement in tibia microstructural indices in the experimental rats (P < .01). The transcriptomic analysis revealed that NTN1, LTBP4, GSN, and EBF1 were identified as the principal targets for therapeutic intervention in osteoporosis. The results of animal experiments showed that kaempferol promoted osteogenesis and inhibited bone resorption by downregulating the protein expression of NTN1, LTBP4, GSN, and EBF1 (P< .01). Time synchronization technology, as one of the core technologies for wireless microseismic sensor networks. is crucial for the coordinated operation of the network. This paper first studies the principles of time synchronization in wireless sensor networks and the factors affecting synchronization accuracy. Secondly. it explores the implementation methods of classic wireless time synchronization protocols. Next. it simulates and compares the synchronization accuracy of the Timing-sync Protocol for Sensor Networks (TPSN) and the Flooding Time Synchronization Protocol(FTSP) . Then, addressing the shortcomings of the FTSP protocol, an improved G-FTSP protocol is proposed, which can effectively enhance the time synchronization accuracy of wireless sensor networks. Finally, the paper estimates the microseismic source localization errors caused by time synchronization errors, verifying that the G-FTSP protocol meets practical production requirements. Microseismic monitoring technology is an important ground pressure monitoring method to ensure the safety, efficiency, and sustainable development of mines. The data obtained by microseismic sensors are easily affected by broadband non-stationary noises, resulting in a lack of available high-SNR data for microseismic analysis. This paper introduces a new spectral analysis method-synchrosqueezed wavelet transform, which provides a method for decomposing data into both time and frequency domains and has higher time-frequency resolution than wavelet transform. It can more clearly display the microseismic waveform in the time-frequency spectrum. Meanwhile, this paper compares the impact of the Morlet wavelet basis and Bump wavelet basis on microseismic waveforms and verified the relative reliability of the Morlet wavelet basis through on-site microseismic monitoring waveforms. The hard threshold filtering method based on noise level is used here to verify that the synchrosqueezed wavelet transform based on the Morlet wavelet basis has great practical value in extracting microseismic signals from raw data, and can effectively improve the SNR of the signal. Diabetes mellitus (DM) is an endocrine-metabolic disorder that has limited approaches to treat effectively. Morus alba L., also known as mulberry, is a well-known medicinal plant, and its branch bark has shown hypoglycemic activity. It is rich in antioxidant and anti-inflammatory ingredients. In this study, we used metabolomics combined with network pharmacology to investigate the molecular mechanism and potential key targets of mulberry branch bark powder (MBBP) for treating DM. Serum metabolomics was performed to analyze the differences in metabolites and enrich metabolic pathways. Network pharmacology, based on systems biology tools, was applied to generate the pathway-target-compound network. Integrated analyses were then used to screen for key targets. To verify the obtained key targets, we used a molecular docking method and experimental validation. Our findings revealed that thirty-five endogenous metabolites contributed to the therapeutic impact of MBBP against DM. The analysis of 10 hub genes in the compound-target network partially supported the enrichment of metabolic pathways. Further analysis focused on two compounds (eugenol and mulberrofuran A) and three key targets (NOS2, MAOA, and CYP1A1). Background: The family Lycaenidae is a widely distributed and species-rich group with approximately 5300 described species. The rare genus Qinorapala Chou & Wang, with Q. qinlingana Chou & Wang as its type species was established as monotypic. In the original description, Q. qinlingana was described from a male holotype; the female remained unknown. To date, the genus is only recorded from the Qinling Mountains (Shaanxi and Gansu Provinces). In this study, two female specimens, from Shaanxi Province and western Sichuan Province (bordering Yunnan Province) are described and illustrated for the first time. New information: Female specimens of Q. qinlingana from Shaanxi and Sichuan are described for the first time. The species' distribution is updated and a distribution map is provided. Increasing evidence suggests that peritoneal fibrosis induced by peritoneal dialysis (PD) is linked to oxidative stress. However, there are currently no effective interventions for peritoneal fibrosis. In the present study, we explored whether adding caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE) to peritoneal dialysis fluid (PDF) improved peritoneal fibrosis caused by PD and explored the molecular mechanism. We established a peritoneal fibrosis model in Sprague–Dawley rats through intraperitoneal injection of PDF and lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Rats in the PD group showed increased peritoneal thickness, submesothelial collagen deposition, and the expression of TGFβ1 and α-SMA. Adding CAPE to PDF significantly inhibited PD-induced submesothelial thickening, reduced TGFβ1 and α-SMA expression, alleviated peritoneal fibrosis, and improved the peritoneal ultrafiltration function. In vitro, peritoneal mesothelial cells (PMCs) treated with PDF showed inhibition of the AMPK/SIRT1 pathway, mitochondrial membrane potential depolarization, overproduction of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (ROS), decreased ATP synthesis, and induction of mesothelial-mesenchymal transition (MMT). CAPE activated the AMPK/SIRT1 pathway, thereby inhibiting mitochondrial membrane potential depolarization, reducing mitochondrial ROS generation, and maintaining ATP synthesis. However, the beneficial effects of CAPE were counteracted by an AMPK inhibitor and siSIRT1. Our results suggest that CAPE maintains mitochondrial homeostasis by upregulating the AMPK/SIRT1 pathway, which alleviates oxidative stress and MMT, thereby mitigating the damage to the peritoneal structure and function caused by PD. In abnormal states of nuclear power plants (NPPs), operators undertake mitigation actions to restore a normal state and prevent reactor trips. However, in abnormal states, the NPP condition fluctuates rapidly, which can lead to human error. If human error occurs, the condition of an NPP can deteriorate, leading to reactor trips. Sudden shutdowns, such as reactor trips, can result in the failure of numerous NPP facilities and economic losses. This study develops a remaining trip time (RTT) prediction system as part of an operator support system to reduce possible human errors and improve the safety of NPPs. The RTT prediction system consists of an algorithm that utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) and explainable AI (XAI) methods, such as autoencoders, light gradient-boosting machines, and Shapley additive explanations. AI methods provide diagnostic information about the abnormal states that occur and predict the remaining time until a reactor trip occurs. The XAI method improves the reliability of AI by providing a rationale for RTT prediction results and information on the main variables of the status of NPPs. The RTT prediction system includes an interface that can effectively provide the results of the system.

The anthracite and Lewis acid catalyst CuCl2 were mixed evenly and placed under the alternating action of microwave field and solid state shear field for solid state reaction. The microwave field made the internal temperature of the coal reach the reaction temperature of the coal-based graphenization and the Lewis acid catalyst made the alkyl removal reaction of the coal molecules under high temperature environment. Direct graphenization of the Taixi anthracite was achieved by strong shear force field and repeated pulverizing and exfoliating provided by the solid state mechanochemical reactor, and then the nanocomposites of coal-based graphene (CB–GE) and natural rubber (NR) were realized in solid state shear milling, and the CB–GE/NR nanocomposites were successfully prepared. The structure and properties of the nanocomposites were characterized by proximate analysis, elemental analysis, scanning electron microscopy, transission electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometer, Raman spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy. The results show that under the combined action of copper chloride catalysis, solid state shear milling and microwave irradiation, the grinding, stripping, deoxidation, dehydrocarb, dehydrogenation and aromatic condensed rings of the Taixi anthracite can be realized and then developed to the direction of graphenization. Finally, the "coal base graphene (CB–GE)" with 2D morphology of 3.5 nm thickness can be obtained. When the mass fraction of CB–GE is 20%, the tensile strength, elongation at break and electrical conductivity of the CB–GE/NR nanocomposites respectively reach 22.36 MPa, 278.8% and 9.8×10−4 S/cm. Compared with the natural rubber material, they are increased by 314.1%, 40.52% and 9 orders of magnitude, respectively. When the mass fraction of CB–GE is 4%, the antistatic requirements can be reached. The results show that the prepared CB–GE can enhance the natural rubber and carry out electrostatic functionalization. There is almost no waste generated in the process of graphenization of anthracite by copper chloride catalyzation-solid state shear force-microwave field, which can improve the economy of preparing coal-based graphene composites. At the same time, the solid-state mechanochemical compounding technology can realize nano dispersion and direct composite of graphenized anthracite in different polymer matrix materials, and can obtain oriented CB–GE/polymer nanocomposites.

ABSTRACT: This study investigated the preventive effects of whey protein fermented with Lactobacillus gasseri IM13 (F-WP) against dexamethasone (DEX)-induced muscle atrophy. C2C12 muscle cells were treated with F-WP followed by DEX treatment. Dexamethasone treatment inhibited myotube formation and the expression of myogenic regulatory factors; however, pretreatment with F-WP attenuated DEX-induced damage. The F-WP significantly activated the phosphorylation of the IGF-1/PI3K/AKT pathway and improved muscle homeostasis suppressed by DEX. Moreover, F-WP alleviated the phosphorylation of mTOR, S6K1, and 4E-BP1 and enhanced muscle protein synthesis. Muscle-specific ubiquitin ligases and autophagy lysosomes, which were activated by the dephosphorylation of FOXO3a by DEX treatment, were significantly attenuated by F-WP pretreatment of myotubes. For peptidomic analysis, F-WP was fractionated using preparative HPLC (prep-HPLC), and the AA sequences of 11 peptides were identified using MALDI-TOF/MS/MS. In conclusion, fermentation of whey protein by the specific probiotic strain IM13 produced bioactive peptides with high antioxidant and anti-sarcopenic-sarcopenic effects, which markedly enhanced myogenesis and muscle protein synthesis while diminishing muscle protein degradation compared with intact whey protein.

Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in Korea and the third leading cause of death from cancer. Treatment outcomes for colon cancer are steadily improving due to national health screening programs with advances in diagnostic methods, surgical techniques, and therapeutic agents. The Korea Colon Cancer Multidisciplinary (KCCM) Committee intends to provide professionals who treat colon cancer with the most up-to-date, evidence-based practice guidelines to improve outcomes and help them make decisions that reflect their patients’ values and preferences. These guidelines have been established by consensus reached by the KCCM Guideline Committee based on a systematic literature review and evidence synthesis and by considering the national health insurance system in real clinical practice settings. Each recommendation is presented with a recommendation strength and level of evidence based on the consensus of the committee.

The complex pathological mechanism of dry eye involves multiple pathways, such as immunity and inflammation, and requires an integral research program to control the whole picture. Various histological techniques can elucidate the complex physio-pathological state of organisms from a holistic and global perspective, thus providing more comprehensive biological information. Mass spectrometry can sensitively detect the changes of protein content in tear samples, providing convenience for proteomics research of dry eye. At present, proteomics has demonstrated its application in the identification of dry eye types, severity grading, and therapeutic effect evaluation. In addition, proteomics combined with metabolomics and microbiomics can more comprehensively explain the pathogenesis of dry eye. In the future, proteomics is expected to provide more powerful support for the precise diagnosis and treatment of dry eye, taking an advantage in targeted therapy.

BackgroundThe association between preterm birth and Mycoplasma species such as Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma urealyticum has been extensively investigated. In a clinical setting, conventional diagnostic methods for them involve culture methods for Mycoplasma spp. and Ureaplasma spp., along with PCR tests. However, the clinical utility of these tests remains controversial, highlighting the necessity for more robust and reliable methods for identifying and understanding Mycoplasma infections.ObjectiveThis study aimed to assess the distribution of microbiota in pregnant women with Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma urealyticum infection by the comparison of conventional diagnostic methods with vaginal microbial community analysis.Study DesignThis prospective case–control study involved 228 Korean pregnant women and utilized vaginal microbial community analysis, Ureaplasma/Mycoplasma culture, and 12-multiplex PCR for sexually transmitted diseases. Cross-correlation analysis in SPSS 27 compared the results of two conventional methods with vaginal microbial community analysis. R software generated box plots depicting the relative abundance of microorganisms. Network analysis was conducted using Cytoscape.ResultsPositive Ureaplasma urealyticum culture findings were observed in 60.2% of patients, with 76.4% positive for Ureaplasma parvum PCR and 13.2% positive for Ureaplasma urealyticum PCR. Mycoplasma hominis culture was positive only in two patients, while Mycoplasma hominis PCR was positive in eight women. Vaginal microbial community analysis identified significant differences in relative abundances of Gardnerella species type I and Fannyhessea vaginae between the Ureaplasma urealyticum PCR positive and negative groups. Mycoplasma hominis PCR positive patients exhibited significant differences in 11 bacterial species, including Gardnerella species I and Fannyhessea vaginae.ConclusionThis study suggests that STD-PCR may be more accurate than Ureaplasma/Mycoplasma culture for the diagnosis of Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma urealyticum infection. Also, the presence of Gardnerella species I and Fannyhessea vaginae implies their potential influences on Ureaplasma urealyticum and Mycoplasma hominis infections based on results of vaginal microbial community analysis. Therefore, vaginal microbial community analysis may give the more information of their pathophysiology.

SiO2/g-C3N4 composite aerogel material with high specific surface area and porous structure was prepared by direct ink writing 3D printing. The micro morphology and porous structure of the material were characterized，and its adsorption and catalytic degradation properties for high concentration Rhodamine B（RhB） in wastewater were tested. The research results showed that the 3D-printed SiO2 aerogel has a specific surface area of 482.1 m2/g，a nano porous structure with a pore volume of 1.195 cm3/g，and a good adsorption performance for RhB. The porous structure of SiO2/g-C3N4 composite aerogel prepared by modifying with g-C3N4 had little change and maintained high adsorption performance，and the removal rate of RhB（100 mg/L） by 3D-printed composite under UV could reach more than 99%. After five cycles of testing，the removal rate of RhB by SiO2/g-C3N4 composite aerogel was still 92.98%，compared with 55.75% for 3D-printed SiO2 aerogel. According to the mechanism analysis，g-C3N4 in the composite could absorb light energy and generate photogenerated electron-hole pairs ，the electron-hole pairs could react with H2O and O2 to produce oxidizing active substances superoxide radicals，and finally participated in the photocatalytic oxidation and reduction reaction to catalyze the degradation of RhB macromolecules. The high specific surface area of the 3D printing structure realized the large reaction contact area between the catalyst and RhB，and improved the photocatalytic degradation efficiency and cycle stability of the composite.

Occupational exposure limits for hazardous agents in the workplace—Part 1: Chemical hazardous agents (GBZ 2.1—2019) has been implemented since April 1, 2020. The document redefines the evaluation of occupational exposure by introducing a "reduction factor" to adjust the occupational exposure limits of chemical hazardous agents for long working hour systems to ensure a protection level reasonable for the workers and equivalent to conventional occupational exposure limits. This paper discussed common problems encountered in the context of using this adjustment strategy, such as the adjustment being unable to cover all working hours, and the adjustment of values of terms associated with occupational exposure limits. Corresponding solutions were proposed. Working cycle and average exposure time of each working cycle were introduced to evaluate the actual working hours of workers. Regarding involved terms, adjustments of their corresponding values were clarified according to their definitions and application scenarios. Examples were provided for occupational health service providers so that their occupational health practices could be carried out in a more scientific and reasonable manner.

Abstract Cu/SiO2 hybrid bonding presents a promising avenue for achieving high-density interconnects by obviating the need for microbumps and underfills. Traditional copper bonding methods often demand temperatures exceeding 400 °C, prompting recent endeavors to mitigate bonding temperatures through investigations into metal passivation bonding. In this study, we scrutinized the diffusion behavior associated with various metal passivation layers (Platinum, Titanium, Tantalum, and Chromium) in the context of low-temperature direct copper bonding and delved into the essential bonding mechanisms. We observed a deviation from conventional metal–metal bonding factors, such as surface roughness and grain size, in the diffusion behavior. Remarkably, our analysis revealed a pronounced correlation between the crystallinity of the metal passivation layers and diffusion behavior, surpassing the influence of other experimental factors. Subsequent post-bonding examinations corroborated consistent diffusion behavior in Pt and Cr passivation samples with disparate crystallinities, reinforcing the significance of crystallinity in the bonding process. Our findings underscore crystallinity as a pivotal factor governing diffusion behavior, even under varied bonding conditions. These insights are instrumental in achieving exceptional bonding characteristics at lower temperatures in Cu/SiO2 hybrid bonding. Implications of this study extend to the prospect of advancing highly integrated systems through die-to-wafer bonding, marking a substantial stride toward future applications.

Background Capsulectomy is a crucial procedure in cosmetic breast surgery, and there is demand for an efficient and convenient tool to perform it. This study analyzed the postoperative outcomes of total capsulectomy by comparing an ultrasonic system to conventional electrosurgery. Methods This retrospective cohort study included patients who underwent total capsulectomy and implant removal from 2012 to 2020. The ultrasonic surgery group underwent this procedure using the Harmonic scalpel, while the electrosurgery group underwent the same surgery using conventional electrocautery. A statistical analysis of the two groups was performed using multivariate linear regression analysis to determine the unbiased effect of ultrasonic surgery on operative efficiency and outcomes. Results A total of 89 patients were included in the study. The operative time was significantly shorter in the ultrasonic surgery group (60 minutes vs. 70 minutes, P=0.002). After adjusting for other independent variables that might also be related to the outcomes, shorter operative time (P=0.014) and faster drain removal (P=0.003) were associated with the use of ultrasonic surgery. Conclusions The use of an ultrasonic system (Harmonic scalpel) for total capsulectomy and explantation in cosmetic breast revision surgery was associated with shorter operative times and faster drain removal than conventional electrosurgery.

Sugarcane smut, caused by the fungal pathogen Sporisorium scitamineum, is a prominent threat to the sugarcane industry. The development of smut resistant varieties is the ultimate solution for controlling this disease, due to the lack of other efficient control methods. Artificial inoculation method is used to evaluate the virulence differentiation of pathogens. The mostly used artificial inoculation methods are soaking of the seed canes in the teliospore solution and injection of teliospores or haploid sporidia into the sugarcane sprouts. However, due to the infection nature of the pathogen that invades the sugarcane plant through meristem tissue of the sprout or shoot, the rate of successful infection is often low and fluctuated, resulting in low confidence of the assays. We recently reported a rapid and high-throughput inoculation method called plantlet soaking by using tissue culture-derived sugarcane plantlets as the test plants. Here, we compare different inoculation methods and report the characterization of parameters that may affect the sensitivity and efficiency of the plantlet soaking technique. The results showed that sugarcane plantlets were highly vulnerable to infection, even with the inoculum density at 6.0 × 105 basidial spores/ml, and this method could be applied to all varieties tested. Notably, varieties showing high smut resistance in the field exhibited high susceptibility when inoculated with the plantlet soaking method, suggesting that the plantlet soaking method is a good complement to the traditional methods for screening germplasms with internal resistance. In addition, this method could also be used to monitor the variation of cellular virulence of the smut pathogen strains in the field.

Selenium (Se) is an essential trace element for humans. The Ankang tea plantation area in China is the best place for producing high-quality and Se-enriched organic tea. However, accumulation of potentially toxic elements (PTEs) in soil and tea leaves has attracted a lot of attention. Therefore, in this research, the content status of Se and five PTEs (As, Cd, Cr, Hg, and Pb) in soil and tea leaf samples collected from 88 Ankang tea plantations was studied. Results showed that the average Se content was 0.17 mg kg−1 and the Se-enrichment rate was 25% for the 88 tea leaf samples, and As, Cd, Cr, Hg, and Pb contents in all tea leaf samples met the Chinese standard for pollution-free tea except for 11.2% excess Cr in only one sample. Cd concentrations in 56.82% soil samples exceeded the Chinese risk screening value for soil contamination of the agricultural land, and therefore the pollution degree of Cd is high in these soil samples. Moreover, the Hakanson potential ecological risk assessment of soil As, Cd, Cr, Hg, and Pb indicated that the Ankang tea plantation area was at a medium potential ecological risk level. These results will provide theoretical support for ecological risk management and safe production of Se-enriched tea in Ankang Se-enriched tea plantations.

Time-dependent emitted H2 content modeling via a reliable diffusion analysis program was performed for H2-enriched polymers under high pressure. Here, the emitted hydrogen concentration versus elapsed time was obtained at different diffusivities and volume dimensions for cylinder-, sphere- and sheet-shaped specimens. The desorption equilibrium time, defined as the time when the H2 emission content is nearly saturated, was an essential factor for determining the periodic cyclic testing and high-pressure H2 exposure effect. The equilibrium time in the desorption process was modeled. The equilibrium time revealed an exponential growth behavior with respect to the squared thickness and the squared diameter of the cylinder--shaped specimen, while it was proportional to the squared diameter for the sphere-shaped specimen and to the squared thickness for the sheet-shaped specimen. Linear relationships between the reciprocal equilibrium time and diffusivity were found for all shaped polymers. The modeling results were confirmed by analysis of the solutions using Fick’s second diffusion law and were consistent with the experimental investigations. Numerical modeling provides a useful tool for predicting the time-dependent emitted H2 behavior and desorption equilibrium time. With a known diffusivity, a complicated time-dependent emitted H2 behavior with a multi-exponential form of an infinite series could also be predicted for the three shaped samples using a diffusion analysis program.

The effect of hydrogen co-firing on the performance and operating conditions of gas turbines (GTs) and gas turbine combined cycles (GTCCs) was investigated. Two operating scenarios were applied, and off-design analyses were conducted for three GTs with different turbine inlet temperatures (TITs). In the first scenario, the TIT was kept constant. As the hydrogen co-firing ratio increases, the pressure ratio of GT increased, and the power outputs of both GT and GTCC increased. With 100 % hydrogen in the 1650 °C GT, power output and efficiency improved by 5.36 % and 1.55 %p for GT, and 2.90 % and 0.72 %p for GTCC. In the second scenario, the power output was kept constant. The operating point moves toward lower pressure ratio and TIT regimes, and the efficiency of both GT and GTCC increased. With 100 % hydrogen in the 1650 °C GT, TIT decreased by 50.3K, and efficiency increased by 1.42 %p for GT, and 24.9K and 0.42 %p for GTCC. In both scenarios, the higher the TIT, the impact of hydrogen co-firing was more pronounced. It is expected that the second scenario might reduce NOx emissions while still increasing system efficiency in comparison to the NG fired case by operating the GT at a lower TIT and equivalence ratio.

Reinforcement learning has shown promise in enabling autonomous ship navigation, allowing vessels to adapt and make informed decisions in complex marine environments. However, the integration of soft constraints and their impact on performance in RL-based autonomous vessel navigation research remain understudied. This research addresses this gap by investigating the implications of soft constraints in the context of the risk-averse ship navigation problem. Four distinct soft constraint functions are proposed, which are integrated with two widely used RL algorithms, resulting in the creation of eight risk-averse autonomous vessel navigation models. To ensure a comprehensive evaluation of their performance, comparative analyses are conducted across seven virtual digital channel environments. Additionally, a novel metric, known as Large Helm Momentum (LHM), is introduced to quantify the smoothness of autonomous vessel navigation. Through thorough experimentation, key considerations for the design of soft constraint functions in the domain of autonomous ship navigation are identified. A comprehensive understanding of how different soft constraint functions influence autonomous driving behavior has been achieved. Key considerations for designing soft constraint functions in the domain of autonomous ship navigation have also been identified. Five principles, namely the constraint association principle, dominance of hard constraints, reward-balance principle, mapping requirement principle, and iterative improvement principle, are proposed to optimize the design of soft constraint functions for autonomous ship navigation, providing valuable guidance and insights.

Previous studies have introduced a resonant caisson designed to enhance wave energy extraction in regions with low wave energy density; however, its operational mechanism remains poorly understood. This paper seeks to elucidate the operational mechanism of the resonant caisson by leveraging Star-CCM+ for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations, focusing on the influence of guides and their dimensions on the water levels, flow velocities, and vortex dynamics. The findings demonstrate the remarkable wave-amplification capabilities of the resonant caisson, with the maximum amplification factor reaching 2.31 at the calculated frequency in the absence of guides. Incorporating guides and expanding their radii substantially elevate the flow rates, accelerate the water currents, and alter the vortex patterns, thereby further enhancing the amplification factor. This study will provide a reference for optimizing the design of resonant caissons and wave energy converters based on resonant caissons, thus promoting the effective use of wave energy resources.

Background: Tai Chi is an increasingly utilized aerobic rehabilitation exercise in the field of cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, there remains debate regarding its effects on physiological function and mental health in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). This study aims to investigate the impact of Tai Chi-based rehabilitation exercises on physical and psychological health outcomes for CHD patients. Methods: By collecting data from 12 databases up to December 2022, we conducted a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to evaluate the effects of Tai Chi on the physical function and psychological health among CHD patients. Results: We analyzed twenty qualified studies involving 2095 patients. Meta-analyses revealed that compared with conventional therapy groups, those who participated in Tai Chi-based interventions demonstrated significant improvements in physical function as measured by six-minute walk test (6MWT) [mean difference (MD) = 56.40, 95% confidence interval (CI) (38.50, 74.29), p < 0.01], maximal oxygen consumption (VO2 max) [standardized mean difference (SMD) = 0. 57, 95% CI (0.12, 1.03), p = 0.01], New York Heart Association (NYHA) class [relative risk (RR) = 1.34, 95% CI (1.18, 1.53), p < 0.01] and physical health components (PHC) [SMD = 1.23, 95% CI (0.76, 1.69), p < 0.01]. Additionally, Tai Chi participants showed greater improvement than control groups across various psychological parameters including anxiety scales [SMD = –0.80, 95% CI (–1.33, –0.28), p = 0.003], depression scales [SMD = –0.77, 95% CI (–1.32, –0.23), p = 0.005] and mental health components (MHC) [SMD = 1.27, 95% CI (0.76, –1.78), p < 0.01]. The GRADEpro (Grade Guideline Development Tool) indicated evidence levels ranging from very low to moderate. Conclusions: The present meta-analysis demonstrates that mind-body rehabilitation exercises based on Tai Chi can improve both physical and psychological health outcomes for CHD patients. These findings suggest that this exercise pattern may be a potential option for cardiovascular rehabilitation. BackgroundDuring the data acquisition of an extreme ultraviolet (EUV) spectroscopic diagnostic system in experimental advanced superconducting Tokamak (EAST), significant amounts of one-pixel noises are consistently observed. This is attributed to the influence of hard X-ray on the charge coupling device (CCD) detector.PurposeThis study aims to detect and denoise spectral images in the EUV spectral image processing system based on the field programmable gate array (FPGA).MethodsFirst of all, based on limiting filtering algorithm, spectral image processing was optimized by replacing fixed limiting thresholds and sample deviations using parameters such as standard deviation and deviation from the mean, and Andor Solis software to was applied to converting the SIF format spectra to BMP format spectral images. Then, data discrimination method was combined with limiting filtering algorithm to process spectral image data in stages according to the setting working area of the algorithm. Finally, a simulation test module was designed to process the video data converted from EUV spectral images in AX7Z100 ZYNQ FPGA platform, simulating the actual acquisition process for functional testing of the system. To assess the system's capacity to protect effective spectral data, the image data was transferred to one-dimensional spectral data for comparative analysis.ResultsBased on the experimental results, the EUV spectral image processing system of this study can effectively eliminate noise data points in the spectral image while essentially maintaining the integrity of the spectral data.ConclusionsThis study enhances the processing of the spectral data and provides a new technological path for EUV spectral image processing.

Hydrogen uptake/diffusivity in nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) blended with carbon black (CB) and silica fillers was measured with a volumetric analysis method in the 258–323 K temperature range. The temperature-dependent H2 diffusivity was obtained by assuming constant solubility with temperature variations. The logarithmic diffusivity decreased linearly with increasing reciprocal temperature. The diffusion activation energies were calculated with the Arrhenius equation. The activation energies for NBR blended with high-abrasion furnace CB and silica fillers increased linearly with increasing filler content. For NBR blended with medium thermal CB filler, the activation energy decreased with increasing filler content. The activation energy filler dependency is similar to the glass transition temperature filler dependency, as determined with dynamic mechanical analysis. Additionally, the activation energy was compared with that obtained by the differential pressure method through permeability temperature dependence. The same activation energy between diffusion and permeation in the range of 33–39 kJ/mol was obtained, supporting the temperature-independent H2 solubility and H2 physisorption in polymer composites.

Abstract Objective The underlying mechanisms of Overactive Bladder (OAB) remain unclear. This research is designed to investigate the correlation between the intake of dietary live microorganisms and OAB. Methods This analysis encompasses a cross-sectional study of broad population information gathered from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (NHANES) spanning the years 2007 to 2018. Participants were categorized into three groups—low, medium, and high—according to their consumption of dietary live microorganisms, as per the Sanders Dietary Active Microbiota Classification System. We utilized a weighted logistic regression model, restricted cubic spline (RCS), and subgroup analyses to investigate the relationship between dietary live microorganism intake and OAB. Results This research encompassed 16,795 subjects. The incidence of OAB was reduced in the group consuming a high amount of live dietary microbes compared to the groups with low and medium intake of such microbes. After detailed adjustments for covariates, analysis revealed that participants in the high live dietary microbe group had notably reduced odds of OAB compared to those in the low live dietary microbe group (OR: 0.84, 95% CI: 0.71–0.99, p = 0.03). RCS analysis indicated a nonlinear correlation between high dietary active microbiota intake and the incidence of OAB. Conclusion This research emphasizes the potential advantages of a high dietary intake of active microbiota for preventing OAB. These findings support incorporating active microbiota into dietary guidelines, demonstrating their connection with a decreased incidence of OAB.

Abstract Background Rickettsia and related diseases have been identified as significant global public health threats. This study involved comprehensive field and systematic investigations of various rickettsial organisms in Yunnan Province. Methods Between May 18, 2011 and November 23, 2020, field investigations were conducted across 42 counties in Yunnan Province, China, encompassing small mammals, livestock, and ticks. Preliminary screenings for Rickettsiales involved amplifying the 16S rRNA genes, along with additional genus- or species-specific genes, which were subsequently confirmed through sequencing results. Sequence comparisons were carried out using the Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST). Phylogenetic relationships were analyzed using the default parameters in the Molecular Evolutionary Genetics Analysis (MEGA) program. The chi-squared test was used to assess the diversities and component ratios of rickettsial agents across various parameters. Results A total of 7964 samples were collected from small mammals, livestock, and ticks through Yunnan Province and submitted for screening for rickettsial organisms. Sixteen rickettsial species from the genera Rickettsia, Anaplasma, Ehrlichia, Neoehrlichia, and Wolbachia were detected, with an overall prevalence of 14.72%. Among these, 11 species were identified as pathogens or potential pathogens to humans and livestock. Specifically, 10 rickettsial organisms were widely found in 42.11% (24 out of 57) of small mammal species. High prevalence was observed in Dremomys samples at 5.60%, in samples from regions with latitudes above 4000 m or alpine meadows, and in those obtained from Yuanmou County. Anaplasma phagocytophilum and Candidatus Neoehrlichia mikurensis were broadly infecting multiple genera of animal hosts. In contrast, the small mammal genera Neodon, Dremomys, Ochotona, Anourosorex, and Mus were carrying individually specific rickettsial agents, indicating host tropism. There were 13 rickettsial species detected in 57.14% (8 out of 14) of tick species, with the highest prevalence (37.07%) observed in the genus Rhipicephalus. Eight rickettsial species were identified in 2375 livestock samples. Notably, six new Rickettsiales variants/strains were discovered, and Candidatus Rickettsia longicornii was unambiguously identified. Conclusions This large-scale survey provided further insight into the high genetic diversity and overall prevalence of emerging Rickettsiales within endemic hotspots in Yunnan Province. The potential threats posed by these emerging tick-borne Rickettsiales to public health warrant attention, underscoring the need for effective strategies to guide the prevention and control of emerging zoonotic diseases in China. Abstract Background Recent interest in the Non-High Density to High Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol ratio (NHHR) has emerged due to its potential role in metabolic disorders. However, the connection between NHHR and the development of kidney stones still lacks clarity. The primary goal of this research is to explore how NHHR correlates with kidney stone incidence. Methods An analysis was conducted on the data collected by the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) between 2007 and 2018, focusing on adults over 20 years diagnosed with kidney stones and those with available NHHR values. Employing weighted logistic regression and Restricted Cubic Spline (RCS) models, NHHR levels’ correlation with kidney stone risk was examined. Extensive subgroup analyses were conducted for enhanced reliability of the findings. Results The findings indicate a heightened kidney stone risk for those at the highest NHHR levels relative to those at the lowest (reference group). Background: Borrelia miyamotoi is a spirochete species transmitted via hard ticks. Following its discovery in Japan, this pathogen has been detected around the world, and is increasingly confirmed as a human pathogen causing febrile disease, namely relapsing fever. Its presence has been confirmed in the Northeast China. However, there is little information regarding the presence of B. miyamotoi and other hard-tick-borne relapsing fever spirochetes in southern China including Yunnan province, where tick and animal species are abundant and many people both inhabit and visit for recreation. Methods: For the present study, we collected samples of ticks, wildlife, and domestic animal hosts from different counties in Yunnan province. Nucleic acids from samples were extracted, and the presence of B. miyamotoi and other relapsing fever spirochetes was confirmed using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for the 16S rRNA specific target gene fragment. The positive samples were then amplified for partial genome of the flaB and glpQ genes. Statistical differences in its distribution were analyzed by SPSS 20 software. Sequence of partial 16S rRNA, flaB and glpQ genome were analyzed and phylogenetic trees were constructed. Results: A total of 8260 samples including 2304 ticks, 4120 small mammals and 1836 blood of domestic animal hosts were collected for screening for infection of B. miyamotoi and other relapsing fever spirochetes. Cattle and sheep act as the main hosts and Rhipicephalus microplus, Haemaphysalis nepalensis, H. kolonini and Ixodes ovatus were identified as the important vector host with high prevalence or wide distribution. Only one Mus caroli (mouse) and one Sorex alpinus (shrew) were confirmed positive for relapsing fever spirochetes. Evidence of vertical transmission in ticks was also confirmed. Two known strains of B. miyamotoi and one novel relapsing fever spirochetes, B. theileri-like agent, were confirmed and described with their host adaptation, mutation, and potential risk of spreading and spillover for human beings. Conclusions: Our results provide new evidence of relapsing fever spirochetes in vector and animal hosts in Yunnan province based on large sample sizes, and offer guidance on further investigation, surveillance and monitoring of this pathogen.

The complete mitochondrial genomes of two Iphiclides species, namely I. podalirius and I. podalirinus, were sequenced, assembled, and reported in this article. Both genomes comprise 37 genes, with 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, and two ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes. The gene orders and alignments agree with the reported mitogenomes of Leptocircini butterflies, while the start codon for the COX1 gene in I. podalirinus is CGA instead of the commonly seen ATN type. Codon preference shows that methionine and tryptophan are the poorest, while arginine, leucine, and serine are the richest. Phylogenetic analysis using Bayesian Inference shows both Iphiclides species are sister to the genus Lamproptera and are basal to all remaining Leptocircini species. The Kimura 2-parameter (K2P) distances of I. podalirinus from I. podalirius exceed 5%, demonstrating its solid species status. The K2P distance between the North African feisthamelii and podalirius exceeds 2%, indicating the reasonable elevation of I. feisthamelii to the full specific level as its type locality is Algeria. Future research is required to tackle the relationship between the Iberian feisthamelii and podalirius using more evidence.

Here, the taxonomy of the genus Rhagastis Rothschild & Jordan, 1903 (Lepidoptera, Sphingidae, Macroglossinae, Macroglossini) from China is revised based on differences in wing morphology, male and female genitalia, and the phylogenetic relationship of the DNA barcodes. Subspecies of Rhagastis albomarginatus (Rothschild, 1894) and R. castor (Walker, 1856) are treated as “good” species, namely Rhagastis dichroae Mell, 1922 stat. nov.; R. everetti Rothschild & Jordan, 1903 stat. nov.; R. aurifera (Butler, 1875) stat. rev.; R. chinensis Mell, 1922 stat. nov.; R. formosana Clark, 1925 stat. nov.; and R. jordani Oberthür, 1904 stat. rev. The distribution maps, biological notes, and ecological records of the genus Rhagastis Rothschild & Jordan, 1903 from China are given, and a species inventory of genus Rhagastis in the world is also included.
