2. A human-centered approach for designing a social care referral platform.

- Abstract
Health Information Technology (HIT) is increasingly being used to help providers connect patients with community resources to meet health related social needs (e.g., food, housing, transportation). Research is needed to design efficient, simple, and engaging interfaces during a sensitive process that involves multiple stakeholders. Research is also needed to understand the roles, expectations, barriers, and facilitators these different stakeholders (i.e., patients, providers, and Community-based Organizations (CBOs) face during this process. We applied the Human-Centered Design approach to develop a multi-interface social care referral platform. This approach allowed us to understand the needs of each stakeholder and address potential workflow concerns. This paper reports on the research team's understanding of the design process from 48 different user tests. We conducted three rounds of user testing on an interactive prototype(s) and adapted the prototype after each round. Our results summarize a number of key findings useful for patients, clinical teams, and staff of CBOs when designing a social care referral platform. Our user testing highlighted that patient-facing interfaces offer tremendous opportunities to allow patients to be the leader of the social care referral process. CBOs have varying needs that must be addressed, and providing CBO staff with opportunities to connect with patients is critical. Finally, healthcare teams have more structured workflows. Integration within the electronic health record system provides opportunities for healthcare staff to support their patients more easily given these barriers., Competing Interests: Drs. 3. Addressing social needs in oncology practices: A case study of a patient-centered approach using health information technology.

- Abstract
Given the dramatic growth in the financial burden of cancer care over the past decades, individuals with cancer are increasingly susceptible to developing social needs (e.g., housing instability and food insecurity) and experiencing an adverse impact of these needs on care management and health outcomes. However, resources required to connect individuals with needed social and community services typically exceed the available staffing within clinical teams. Using input from focus groups, key informant interviews, user experience/user interface testing, and a multidisciplinary community advisory board, we developed a new technology solution, ConnectedNest, which connects individuals in need to community based organizations (CBOs) that provide services through direct and/or oncology team referrals, with interfaces to support all three groups (patients, CBOs, and oncology care teams). After prototype development, we conducted usability testing, with participants noting the importance of the technology for filling a current gap in screening and connecting individuals with cancer with needed social and community services. We employ a patient-empowered approach that engages the support of an individual's healthcare team and community organizations. 4. Engineered Skin Substitutes in Dermatologic Surgery: A Systematic Review.

- Abstract
Background: Artificial skin substitutes are a flexible alternative to autografting in Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS), but the characteristics and clinical outcomes of skin substitutes are not well defined., Objective: Summarize clinical data of skin substitutes in MMS for cutaneous malignancy., Methods: A MEDLINE/Embase/Web of Science search was conducted. Articles with original data on outcomes after skin substitute use in MMS for cutaneous malignancy were included. Articles not in English or without original data were excluded. Bias was assessed using the Oxford CEBM Levels of Evidence Table. Outcomes were synthesized using weighted averages. This study was prospectively registered in PROSPERO., Results: Of 1,007 articles, 40 met eligibility for inclusion. In total, 898 patients who underwent MMS and received a skin substitute were included. Xenografts were most commonly used (n = 613). Semi-synthetic grafts (∼$<1/cm2) and xenografts (∼$10/cm2) are most affordable. Overall, outcomes were excellent for all skin substitutes, with a small proportion of patients experiencing correctable complications., Conclusion: Skin substitutes are highly effective in MMS, with enormous potential. While the data demonstrate positive outcomes, they predominately draw from small, retrospective studies or case reports. 5. Clinical, onychoscopic, nail clipping, and histopathological findings of malignant onychopapilloma.

- Abstract
This report describes the clinical, onychoscopic, nail clipping, and histopathologic features of a malignant onychopapilloma. A 71-year-old male presented to our outpatient clinic for a stable, asymptomatic lesion on his left middle finger that had been present for 2 years. Prior nail clipping histopathology showed nail plate thinning with subungual abnormal onychocytes. Clinical examination revealed a 2-mm-wide streak of longitudinal xanthonychia extending to the proximal nail fold, with distal hyperkeratosis and onycholysis. Onychoscopy showed irregular longitudinal nail plate ridging with scattered punctate hemorrhagic foci. An excisional nail unit biopsy demonstrated cellular atypia of the nail bed epithelium, matrix metaplasia, longitudinal abnormal onychocytes, increased Ki-67 staining, and negative HPV immunoperoxidase staining, confirming the diagnosis of malignant onychopapilloma., (© 2024 The Authors. 6. PM2.5, vegetation density, and childhood cancer: a case-control registry-based study from Texas 1995-2011.

- Abstract
Background: Air pollution is positively associated with some childhood cancers, whereas greenness is inversely associated with some adult cancers. The interplay between air pollution and greenness in childhood cancer etiology is unclear. We estimated the association between early-life air pollution and greenness exposure and childhood cancer in Texas (1995 to 2011)., Methods: We included 6101 cancer cases and 109 762 controls (aged 0 to 16 years). We linked residential birth address to census tract annual average fine particulate matter <2.5 µg/m³ (PM2.5) and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI). We estimated odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) between PM2.5/NDVI interquartile range increases and cancer. We assessed statistical interaction between PM2.5 and NDVI (likelihood ratio tests)., Results: Increasing residential early-life PM2.5 exposure was associated with all childhood cancers (OR = 1.10, 95% CI = 1.06 to 1.15), lymphoid leukemias (OR = 1.15, 95% CI = 1.07 to 1.23), Hodgkin lymphomas (OR = 1.27, 95% CI = 1.02 to 1.58), non-Hodgkin lymphomas (OR = 1.24, 95% CI = 1.02 to 1.51), ependymoma (OR = 1.27, 95% CI = 1.01 to 1.60), and others. Increasing NDVI exposure was inversely associated with ependymoma (0- to 4-year-old OR = 0.75, 95% CI = 0.58 to 0.97) and medulloblastoma (OR = 0.75, 95% CI = 0.62 to 0.91) but positively associated with malignant melanoma (OR = 1.75, 95% CI = 1.23 to 2.47) and Langerhans cell histiocytosis (OR = 1.56, 95% CI = 1.07 to 2.28). There was evidence of statistical interaction between NDVI and PM2.5 (P < .04) for all cancers., Conclusion: Increasing early-life exposure to PM2.5 increased the risk of childhood cancers. NDVI decreased the risk of 2 cancers yet increased the risk of others. These findings highlight the complexity between PM2.5 and NDVI in cancer etiology., (© The Author(s) 2024. - Abstract
Autosomal recessive congenital ichthyoses (ARCI) are a range of genetic disorders of keratinization. The rare CYP4F22 gene mutation can present with or without collodion membrane at birth and leads to the development of mild ichthyosis phenotype. We report a case of a novel pathogenic CYP4F22 genetic mutation presenting with collodion membrane and ocular manifestations. Ocular manifestations have recently been reported in a patient with ARCI with known CYP4F22 mutation, which further supports a possible correlation between the CYP4F22 mutation and this distinct phenotype., (© 2024 Wiley Periodicals LLC.)

- Abstract
On December 5, 2022, an indirect drive fusion implosion on the National Ignition Facility (NIF) achieved a target gain G_{target} of 1.5. This is the first laboratory demonstration of exceeding "scientific breakeven" (or G_{target}>1) where 2.05 MJ of 351 nm laser light produced 3.1 MJ of total fusion yield, a result which significantly exceeds the Lawson criterion for fusion ignition as reported in a previous NIF implosion [H. Abu-Shawareb et al. (Indirect Drive ICF Collaboration), Phys. Rev. Lett. 129, 075001 (2022)PRLTAO0031-900710.1103/PhysRevLett.129.075001]. This achievement is the culmination of more than five decades of research and gives proof that laboratory fusion, based on fundamental physics principles, is possible. This Letter reports on the target, laser, design, and experimental advancements that led to this result.

11. A Comparison of Three Area-Level Indices of Neighborhood Deprivation and Socioeconomic Status and their Applicability to Breast Cancer Mortality.

Neighborhood deprivation indices are widely used in research, but the performance of these indices has rarely been directly compared in the same analysis. We examined the Area Deprivation Index, Neighborhood Deprivation Index, and Yost index, and compared their associations with breast cancer mortality. Indices were constructed for Georgia census block groups using 2011-2015 American Community Survey data. Pearson correlation coefficients and percent agreement were calculated. Associations between each index and breast cancer mortality were estimated among 36,795 women diagnosed with breast cancer using Cox proportional hazards regression. The indices were strongly correlated (absolute value of correlation coefficients > 0.77), exhibited moderate (41.4%) agreement, and were similarly associated with a 36% increase in breast cancer mortality. The similar associations with breast cancer mortality suggest the indices measure the same underlying construct, despite only moderate agreement. - Abstract
Since its inception in 1991, the mission of the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program's (NBCCEDP) mission is to improve access to mammography. This program has demonstrated evidence showing that it has improved breast cancer screening rates for women who are uninsured and underinsured. However, the literature has shown that NBCCEDP screenings are decreasing, and only reach a portion of eligible women. Reliable estimates at the sub-county level are needed to identify and reach eligible women. Our work builds upon previous estimates by integrating uninsured and insurance status into spatially adaptive filters. We use spatially adaptive filters to create small area estimates of standardized incidence ratios describing the utilization rate of NBCCEDP services in Minnesota. We integrate the American Community Survey (2010-2014) insurance status data to account for the percentage that an individual is uninsured. We test five models that integrate insurance status by age, sex, and race/ethnicity. Our composite model, which adjusts for age, sex, and race/ethnicity insurance statuses, reduces 95% of the estimation error. We estimate that there approximately 49,913.7 women eligible to receive services for Minnesota. We also create small geography (i.e., county and sub-county) estimates for Minnesota. The integration of the insurance data improved our utilization estimate. 13. The Next Generation of Dashboards: a Spatial Online Analytical Processing (SOLAP) Platform for COVID-19.

- Abstract
The health and societal impacts of COVID-19 have created tremendous interest in the scientific community, resulting in interdisciplinary research teams that combine their expertise to provide new insights into the epidemic. However, spatial computation, exploratory data analysis, and spatial data exploration tools have yet to be integrated into these dashboards. Despite the availability of these tools, many of the existing COVID-19 dashboards have provided a limited set of data (i.e., last week's total cases), which limits the user's ability to interact with or customize the data visualization. We present a Spatial Online Analytical Platform that integrates spatial analysis tools that enable users to explore and learn more about spatial patterns of COVID-19. We present three interaction classes designed to support users' needs for knowledge about COVID-19 data trends. Our first interaction class allows users to apply user-defined data classifications (i.e., quantile, equal interval, user-defined) and map color choices. The second interaction class applies a risk index across the time series, informing users of the recent temporal trends. The third interaction class allows users to hypothesize about the presence of spatial clusters and receive results on demand. Our SOLAP platform supports the data analysis and exploration needs of big spatial-temporal data.
