Abstract

This study presents a search method for a solution space that aligns with a designer's design intent. The proposed method uses multiobjective optimization to determine the size of the narrowed solution space and the weakness of the constraint relationships between the design variables. The suitability of the proposed method is tested by applying it to the design problem of an electric motor for an EV, aiming to provide designers with solution spaces that offer a high degree of freedom in the later design stages and that have weaker constraint relationships among the design variables. 3. Experimental verification of active damping of powertrain vibrations with simple fuzzy logic compensation for time-varying control period

Abstract

To ensure comfortability and lifetime of components, transient vibrations in a vehicle powertrain must be suppressed. This study proposes a novel active vibration control strategy with straightforward fuzzy inference compensation for time-fluctuations of control periods of engines used as actuators. First, a model prediction algorithm including a sampled-data controller (SDC) is applied for addressing the maximal phase lag of the control input caused by the fluctuated control period. Fluctuated renewal timings of the control input that are deviated from those of the periodical operated SDC are defined by fuzzy sets. These fuzzy sets are expressed as “Nearly past timing” and “Nearly future timing.” Using a human-intuition-like fuzzy compensation with only four inference rules, unknown control inputs at fluctuated update timings are reasonably determined from such fuzzy sets and periodical control signals given by the SDC. Experiments using an actual test device are performed to investigate the damping performance of the proposed control scheme. The experimental tests demonstrate that the novel active damping strategy significantly reduces transient vibrations despite the fluctuated control period. Moreover, several different test conditions newly reveal the robustness of the fuzzy compensation against fluctuations of variable regions in the control periods.

4. Retrospective Observational Study on Telemedicine in Sublingual Immunotherapy for Patients with Japanese Cedar Pollinosis and House Dust Mite Allergic Rhinitis.

Abstract

Introduction: In Japan, telemedicine has gradually expanded due to deregulation in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, its current status remains unclear, as it is primarily provided by general practitioners. This study aims to examine the use of telemedicine in sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) for patients with Japanese cedar pollen allergy and/or house dust mite allergic rhinitis. Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of medical record data from seven otorhinolaryngology clinics and performed an exploratory evaluation between a group that combined telemedicine and in-person visits during the initial 6 months of SLIT and another group with only in-person visits. Results: Following propensity score matching, 51 and 82 patients were eligible for the telemedicine and in-person groups, respectively, with 33 cases in both groups. Both groups had similar characteristics after matching. No significant difference was found in the withdrawal rate at 6 months from the start of SLIT (6.1% and 9.1% in each group; p = 1.00), side effects, or treatment efficacy between the two groups. The average copayment for patients tended to be significantly higher in the telemedicine group after one, three, and 6 months following SLIT initiation. Discussion: The situation of patients who receive an appropriate combination of telemedicine and in-person visits is not significantly different from patients who receive in-person visits alone. This study may help indicate the actual status of telemedicine in Japan. Further investigation at more facilities is necessary in the future to dispel concerns in the practice setting.
